The Maker will hold one program at a time. You do not need to delete files from the Maker before you copy another one onto it; the new file will just replace the old one. There are 4 main components that make up any computer. input output The processor The processor This is usually a small chip inside the computer; it show the computer processes and uses information CPU stands for central processing unit. processor is the brains of the computer the faster the processor, the more quickly the computer can think. The memory This is how the computer remembers things. There are two types of memory: 1. RAM (random access memory) You can think of this as the computer s short-term memory. 2. Storage (also referred to as the hard drive ) This is the computer s long term memory where it stores information even when the power is turned off. Inputs This is how a computer takes in information from the world. In humans, our input comes in through our senses, such as our ears and eyes. examples of computer inputs: keyboard, mouse, touchscreen, camera, microphone, game controller and scanner. Outputs this is how a computer displays or communicates information. Humans communicate information by using their mouths when they talk. Also blushing and sign language. examples of computer outputs: monitor/screen, headphones/speakers and printer
There are three ways to power your Maker: Through the USB port at the top By connecting a battery pack to the battery connector Through the VIN Pin at the bottom (not the recommended way to power your Maker)
algorithms are a set of instructions. Algorithms tell the computer how to process input and what, if any, output to produce. An example of an algorithm you might have seen in maths function machine. The value of x represents the input and the value of y represents the output. Software is a ( code or computer programs). The software tells the hardware what to do and in what order to do it using algorithms. a simple algorithm to make toast :
UNIT 3
Computer programs process information. It stores some information in a temporary location called variables. Programmers create variables to hold the value of information that may change. In a game program, a variable may be created to hold the player s current score, since that value should change during the game.? ثابتة( constants ) What pieces of information have values that don t change? The days of the week the year the students names the school address?متغيرات (variables) What pieces of information have values that do change during a single day The temperature/weather the current time standing or sitting Keeping score Scorekeeper What variables would these be? The number of times player 1 wins The number of times player 2 wins The number of times there is a tie What other things can you calculate apart from adding scores? Calculate and display if player wins orlose? Display the score as a percentage. Calculate and display number of tied game as a percentage of all rounds. Think of a situation where you had to make a decision and share your decision with other students in class. If I get over 90 I will get a big present If you finish your homework you can watch Tv till 12 If you eat your lunch you will get Ice cream
End of Unit Quiz The decision making process in programming is known as? Conditional Statements (IF statement) What other maths calculations you have learned in this unit? Adding (+) Subtracting (-) Division (/) Multiplication ( * ) Ardublockly software uses blocks which can be dragged and dropped from the menu to create programs that can be uploaded to the maker; Program Name Menu Upload to Maker button Some of the blocks that can be dragged from the menu
Ardublockly Blocks Blocks to set variables Blocks to handle input Logic blocks for conditional Blocks to handle output
