2 This document contains the release notes for the 3.20 release of the 369 Motor Protection System. Affected product: 369 Motor Protection System Date of release: March 25, 2008 Firmware revision: 3.20 nervista version 3.80 release is compatible with 369 firmware version 3.20 and is backwards compatible for previous versions of 369 hardware. Release details In the following change descriptions, a revision category letter is placed to the left of the description. Refer to the Appendix at the end of this document for additional details. 369 Motor Protection System Quick Start Guide The 369 Motor Protection documentation has been expanded to include a Quick Start Guide that will provide users with a compressed version of the 369 Installation and Instruction manual. The 369 Quick Start Guide is designed to contain information relevant to enabling the user to commission the 369 with minimum reference to the 369 Installation and Instruction manual. Communications Guide The 369 Motor Protection documentation has been expanded to include a communications guide that provides users with detailed information about the Modbus, Modbus-TCP, Deviceet, Profibus-DP, and Profibus-DPV1 communications protocols available in the 369. The Communication Guide is separated from the 369 manual and can be downloaded from the G Multilin website. Current Based Phase Reversal Protection Current based phase reversal has been implemented in release 3.20 of the 369 Motor Protection Relay. With this added feature the relay is able to detect phase reversal through current inputs when voltage inputs are not present or not configured in the 369 relay. Two Speed Motor Protection With the release of firmware version 3.20 the 369 Motor Protection Relay has been upgraded to include the protection of Two Speed Motors. In applications requiring Two Speed Motor protection the 369 can be configured to protect the motor in both speeds based on the operating characteristics of the motor and parameters programmed by the user. 2 G Multilin

3 User Configurable Data Logger A user configurable data logger has been implemented in the 369 Motor Protection Relay. The user configurable data logger provides flexibility to the user by allowing the user to configure the analog and digital parameters. With the implementation of the user definable data logger this will allow users to trend information that will assist with configuring setpoints as well as scheduling preventative maintenance. The following parameters can be configured in the 369 relay: Trending of up to sixteen (16) analog or digital parameters at a time Trending of any metered or calculated analog value within a provided list Trending of digital input and output states All trended information is stored in the relay s volatile memory (RAM) User configurable resolution of trending from 1 second to 1 hour Access all trending information though nervista set-up software. D Preset Motor Statistics Additional enhancements have been implemented to the Preset Motor Statistics in the 369 Motor Protection System in version With the release of version 3.20 the following statistical data can be written back to the relay, allowing the user to retain data when installing a new 369 relay in an existing installation. Preset umber of Motor Starts Preset umber of mergency Restarts Preset Motor Running Hours Preset Auto Restart Attempts Profibus Loss of Communication Tripping Additional functionality has been implemented to the Profibus Loss of Communication Tripping function. ew settings and functionality have been added to allow the 369 to issue a motor trip in the event of loss of communications with the Profibus Master. ach output relay in the 369 can be configured to operate Failsafe or on-failsafe after a user-defined delay upon detecting a loss of Profibus communications. This functionality will operate with relay programmed for either Latched or Unlatched. This functionality applies for 369 relays ordered with either the P (Profibus DP) or P1 (Profibus DPV1) Interface options. Hiding of on-applicable MMI Displays In order to streamline the MMI display interface, MMI displays for features that are order code dependent and had been visible in previous releases when the corresponding options were not installed will now be hidden. 4 Test Output Relays: Force Relay Duration The Testing Output Relays feature will now change the output relay being tested back to it s original state after the time indicated by the Duration setpoint when programmed for Failsafe operation. Hottest Stator RTD nhanced To Include Information From Remote RTD Units The measured Hottest Stator RTD information has been enhanced to include measurements from any Remote RTD units, in addition to local RTDs in the 369. This enhancement has also been included in vent Recorder records. Motor Start Data Logger nhancements have been made to log the phase voltage type in applications where the VT Connection Type dynamically changes from Wye To Open Delta. Phase Angle Display Improvements Phase Angle Display has been improved to display the phase angle for Open Delta connections, Vab, Vbc, and Vca. Previously only Va, Vb, and Vc were shown without indicating the reference for each angle. on-nhanced Display LCD Contrast Adjustment Updates to the 369 MMI display hardware have included improvements to the LCD contrast to remove the necessity of having a contrast adjustment setpoint. This setpoint will now no longer be shown. Improvements to MMI Display Initialization nhancements have been made to the 369 MMI display to allow the display to initialize in cases where the control voltage is held slightly below minimum 369 specifications for a period of time before raising to within the specified input control voltage range. This improvement allows the MMI display to operate in a larger control voltage range. RTD Biasing Improvements When Using Remote RTD For egative Temperature Measurements RTD Biasing functionality has been improved when utilizing temperature readings from a Remote RTD unit in applications with negative Celsius temperatures. 4 G Multilin

5 3.80 nervista TM 369 Set-up Software Two Speed Motor Protection With the release of nervista version 3.80, the 369 Set-up software has been enhanced to support the newly implemented Two Speed Motor Protection function in the 369 Relay. In applications requiring Two Speed Motor protection the 369 can be configured to protect motors in both speeds based on the operating characteristics of the motor and parameters programmed by the user. User Configurable Data Logger Additional improvements have been implemented to the 369 Data Logger allowing increased flexibility to the user. The 369 nervista Set-up software version 3.80 allows the user to configure the data logger in the 369 Motor Protection Relay. Analog Output Settings The 369 nervista Set-up Software has been enhanced to allow setting files that contain Analog Output values assigned to Motor Load to be copied from the offline window to the online window. Prior to release 3.80, when copying an Offline setting file to the Online window, if the Analog Output value is assigned to Motor Load, the default value for the Maximum Analog Output of 0.01xFLC will override the programmed valued and be copied to the relay. Setting Files Prior to 3.80, if the file name had File in the file name and a space after File the 369 nervista Set-up software would not be able to find the file or load the file to the relay nervista 369 Set-up software has been enhanced to include the ability to allow the use of File and a space in the file name. 6 Upgrade paths Customers are able to upgrade their version of 369 Setup software to the new 3.80 release for free. This can be done either via nervista Launchpad or by direct download from the following site: If using nervista Launchpad, follow these steps: 1. Open nervista Launchpad 2. Click ID Setup 3. Click Check Updates. ote: this will check for updates to all of the ID setup software shown. 4. Select the 369 version 3.80 upgrade for download.
