2 Document Purpose: Quick reference for BladeCenter Interoperability. Compliment to ServerProven, COG, and the Configuration tools with ServerProven being the most reliable, accurate, and up to date tool. This paper is intended to provide information regarding BladeCenter Interoperability. It assembles data from other published IBM tools. Findings may not be realized in all customer environments, and implementation in such environments may require additional steps, configurations, and performance analysis. While this is not violating any safety rules, we recommend that your clients review the electrical infrastructure and power distribution of their installations to account for a peak of 14.4A Note-4 95W is supported but will throttle performance to fit in power envelope recommend using in BladeCenter H or HT. This is true for processor models xx and 8xx. They will run n- speed in BladeCenter E and BladeCenter T chassis. However, processor models 3xx and 83xx do not have the ability to run n-. They are not supported in BCE or BCT. Note-5 HC10 (7996) requires AMM on E chassis. Note-6 When the JS1 blade boots, the BMC will determine what chassis it is running in and "set" accordingly the processor frequency. The -way configuration functions at.7ghz processor frequency in BladeCenter H (885) or.6ghz processor frequency in all other BladeCenter chassis. The 4-way configuration functions at.5ghz processor frequency in BladeCenter H (885) or.3ghz processor frequency in all other BladeCenter chassis. Note-7 Supported only in Non-NEBS environment 4

7 I/O Modules to Chassis Interoperability continued A Brocade SAN Switch Module for BladeCenter or any other Brocade switch or director utilizing the Fabric OS Access Gateway mode can connect to an INCITS T11 NPIV compliant device. The Brocade Access Gateway mode was designed to adhere to this standard. In addition, any INCITS T11 NPIV compliant device can connect to a Brocade switch or director that supports NPIV connectivity. Brocade does not test or make a discreet statement of support for any other vendor s devices. Brocade will assist IBM with problem determination for compliant configurations.
