As pioneers in this field, the solutions from ICLEAN were readily accepted by the customers. 4 ABOUT CLEANROOMS Cleanroom is an environment, typically used in manufacturing or scientific research, that has a low level of environmental pollutants such as dust, airborne microbes, aerosol particles and chemical vapours. To give a perspective, external environment would be considered about a 5,000,000 class cleanroom. Cleanrooms can be small or very large. Entire manufacturing facilities can be contained within a cleanroom with factory floors covering thousands of square meters. They are used extensively in Semiconductor manufacturing, Biotechnology, Life sciences and other fields that are very sensitive to environmental contamination. The air entering a cleanroom from outside is filtered to exclude dust and the air inside is constantly recirculated through High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) and Ultra Low Penetration Air (ULPA) filters to remove internally generated contaminants. Staff enter and leave through airlocks (can include an air shower) and wear protective clothing such as caps, face masks, boots and coveralls. Equipment inside the cleanroom is designed to generate minimal air contamination. Common materials such as paper, pencils and fabrics made from natural fibres are often excluded. Low-level cleanrooms are often not sterile (i.e., free of uncontrolled microbes) and more attention is given to airborne particles. Particle levels are usually tested using a particle counter. Some cleanrooms are kept at a higher air pressure so that if there are any leaks, the air rushes outside the room. This is similar to the lower pressures used in biological hot zones to keep the microbes inside. Cleanroom HVAC systems often control the humidity to low levels, such that extra precautions are necessary to prevent electrostatic discharges. Entering a cleanroom usually requires wearing a cleanroom suit. Cleanrooms can be very large. Entire manufacturing facilities can be contained within a cleanroom with factory floors covering thousands of square meters. In pharmaceuticals manufacturing facilities, it is essential to minimise man / material movement and avoid cross contamination between different classified areas to achieve desired classification and to maintain integrity of products and processes. Pass Box is designed to allow material transfer without much personnel movement. It also aids controlling ingress of particulate contaminants into clean room and between different classified areas. 9 PRODUCTS CLEAN ROOM EQUIPMENTS Air Shower Sterile Trolleys Air Shower is designed to supply Class 100 HEPA filtered air at high velocity to remove particulate matter from the person entering into the Clean Room. Clean room trolley is designed for transporting sterile products under ISO Class 5 (Class 100) particle free work area. DUMMY PIC Air shower is a self-contained air chamber installed at the entrance to cleanrooms in order to minimize the amount of particulate contaminants entering the cleanroom. Personnel move through the air shower while particulate contaminants are washed off with high velocity HEPA-filtered air jets. The high air velocity of 6000 FPM ensures efficient scrubbing action necessary to remove particulate matter. 10 PRODUCTS CLEAN ROOM EQUIPMENTS Bio-Safety Cabinets 18 Dispensing & Sampling Booths All Class II cabinets are designed for work involving microorganisms assigned to bio safety levels 1, 2 and 3. Protection from airborne contaminants generated during powder handling operations such as sampling, charging and dispensing. Bio-safety cabinets are designed to provide personnel, environmental and product protection. Air flow is drawn around the operator into the front grille of the cabinet which provides personnel protection. Additionally, the downward laminar flow of HEPA-filtered air provides product protection by minimizing the chance of cross-contamination along the work surface of the cabinet. Because cabinet air passes through the exhaust HEPA filter, it is contaminant-free (environmental protection). All Class II cabinets are designed for work involving microorganisms assigned to bio safety levels 1, 2 and 3. Class II cabinets provide the microbe-free work environment necessary for cell culture propagation, and also may be used for the formulation of non-volatile antineoplastic or hemotherapeutic drugs. Bio safety cabinets are available in powder coated Galvanized Steel, SS 304 / SS 316 or a combination of both. A clean, constant, laminar downflow of Class 100 air is supplied in work area suppressing any dust clouds generated during open powder processing, removing and capturing airborne particles from the operator s breathing zone. The Prefilters at the base of the rear wall, capture the airborne contaminants generated. Intake velocity at prefilters increases to ensure scavenging effect. A small percentage of air is discharged from the booth through the bleed exhaust HEPA filter to maintain the working space under negative pressure. Air handlers usually connect to ductworks that distribute the conditioned air through the building and return it to the AHU. Sometimes AHUs discharge (supply) and admit (return) air directly to and from the space served without ductwork.
