We offer models to mount either in the wall/ headwall or in the lighting fixture itself. Our latest model, the LVC-2000 (page 2), is our most advanced low voltage controller yet, with the ability to control up to three loads with dimming. 5 Product Design and Application The LVC-2000 Low Voltage Controllers are designed to mount inside a lighting fixture or in a five-gang masonry box. All connections should be made within the lighting fixture or masonry box and capped with wire nuts or equivalent. A qualified electrician should perform the installation. These pictures are for reference only and depict a typical LVC-2000 installation. Many alternate luminaires and installations may exist. Please consult with local EC Codes and other applicable agency listing requirements for specific installations requirements. Wiring The low voltage side of the LVC has connections for up to eight wires: Violet Light Grey Violet Light Grey Brown Dark Grey Blue Red The violet (dimming output) and Light Grey (dimming common) connections are outputs compatible with any 0-10V dimming compatible dimming driver (fluorescent, LED other). The Red (switch 1), Blue (switch 2), Dark Grey (switch 3) and Brown (common) connections are for the dry contact, normally open, momentary switches such as a pillow speaker. This LVC is capable of interfacing with 3 switch inputs (Red, Blue and Dark Grey respectively). The Brown input is the common for these switches. If the three switch inputs do not share a common, the separate commons need to be wired together and then connected to the Brown input. The high voltage side of the LVC has connections for up to six wires: Black White Green Pink Yellow Orange The Black (AC hot) connection should be tied to the AC power source. The White (AC common) connection should be tied to the AC common line. The Green (earth ground) connection should be tied to earth ground or the luminaire chassis. This wire is already electrically connected to the chassis of the LVC. The Pink (Load 1), Yellow (Load 2) and Orange (Load 3) connections are outputs for AC out to the actual Loads to be driven. The AC voltage out will be the same as the input. See SPECIFICATIOS for details. 7 Product Design and Application The LC-060 Low Voltage Controller is designed to mount inside a lighting fixture. All connections should be made within the lighting fixture and capped with wire nuts or equivalent. A qualified electrician should perform the installation. Wiring The three wires on the low voltage side of the unit are designated as red, blue, and brown. When wiring as a single momentary switch, sequential controller, you must connect the red and blue wires together to one side of the switch. The brown wire is the other side of the switch. This wiring can be connected to a receptacle, or directly to a pillow speaker if it is hard wired to the nurse call system (Figure 1). When wiring as a two switch combination control, the brown wire is common for the two switches. Blue is S1 and red is S2 (Figure 2). On the other side of the control housing is the high voltage side, which has three groups of wires. One group is the AC voltage in. It consists of a black wire (hot), and a white wire (neutral). The second group of wires is the AC voltage out to the load (lights). It consists of a yellow wire (hot, load 1), a pink wire (hot, load 2), and a green wire (earth ground). These connections go directly to the room lights, or other devices being controlled, and earth ground. The third group of wires is for input voltage designation (a black wire with red stripe and a white wire with red stripe). For 120 volt applications: the black wire with red stripe gets wired to the black (hot) wire and the white wire with red stripe gets wired to the white (neutral) wire. For 277 volt applications: the black wire with red stripe and the white wire with red stripe get wired together and capped off. 9 Product Design and Application The light controller is designed to mount inside a two gang, 3.5" deep masonry box. All connections should be made within this box and be capped with wire nuts. The ational Electrical Code requires that barriers separate the low voltage and line voltage wiring in all hospital and nursing home patient rooms. To effectively use the barriers provided with the Light Controller, low voltage and line voltage must be in separate conduits, which enter the box at opposite ends, or top and bottom. All box connections must be kept isolated/separate from other circuits. A qualified electrical contractor or a hospital staff electrician should do the installation. Wiring The three wires on the low voltage side of the unit are designated as red, blue, and brown. When wiring as a single switch, sequential controller, you must connect the red and blue wires together to one side of the switch. The brown wire is the other side of the switch. This wiring can be done to a receptacle, or directly to a pillow speaker if it is hard wired to the nurse call system (Figure 1).
