2 Page 2 1 KAS-Lift Control System (LCS) components The following diagram shows the components of the Lift Control System, which incorporates the Access Control Reader (ACR) and the Lift Control Module (LCM). KAS will have already setup the mode switch according to the client s specifications; please do not change these mode switch settings. The Lift Control Module (LCM) can be powered from 240V AC (as it has an internal transformer converting to 5V DC), or it can be powered directly from a separate 5V DC power source if preferred. 240V AC transformer will be supplied with each LCM. 240AV / 5V DC transformer 3 contact terminals for each Lift Button Access Control Reader (ACR) connecter bar Mode switch (as set by KAS) 3 contact terminals for each Lift Button

3 Page 3 2 Control dimensions Lift Control Module Model SN-910A Installation tip: The Lift Control Module (LCM) is generally installed on top of the roof of the lift cart, in close proximity to the rest of the lift system s electrical hardware. The LCM can also be installed inside the internal control panel inside each lift. This facilitates easy access to wire each control lift button. 3 Access Control Reader (ACR) dimensions The following diagram shows the dimensions of the Access Control Reader (ACR):

4 Page 4 4 Requirements for multiple LCM s Connect Controller (A) to Controller (B) Notes Using controller (A) only, you can have up to 16 floors. For more than 16 floors, a second lift controller (B) will be attached, doubling your level capacity to 32 floors. Recommended maximum distance between LCM and Reader: 60 metres

6 Page 6 6 Installation tips for LCS and ACR Lift button contact terminal There are 3 'contact terminals' for each Lift Button: 1) Join the "DOT" contact to one side of the original Lift Button 2) Remove the other wire from the Lift Button and join to one of the "+" contacts. 3) Run a new wire from the other "+" contact back to the second side of each Lift Button. Note: The symbols for the button contact terminals are on the outside stainless steel cover Summary of contact terminal setup for each lift button: + First terminal connected from the original Lift Button wire + Second terminal contact with a new replaced wire to Lift Button Terminal is to be joined with the other existing wire on the Lift Button See image on previous page for wiring diagram The output from the LCM is designed to connect to the standard switching wires/circuit for each of the push buttons in each lift, by allowing the associated push buttons in the lift to be selected according the permissions of the presented guest card. If a guest is not allowed to a certain

7 Page 7 floor, pushing the button on the lift to those non-permission floors will have no effect, thus not allowing that guest access to those floors. Our system is not designed to be used with the later model touch screen lifts, but rather the traditional (and more common) lifts that have a physical push button for each floor. Note: KAS strongly recommends wiring the Lift Control System with an isolation master switch, preferably controlled from reception, or at least the control room, whereby the LAC system can be isolated from a normal functioning lift where you could still push any button to get to any floor (ie Fail Safe). In this way, should there be any malfunction, the LAC can be isolated allowing continued access to all floors by any person, until the issue is resolved.
