2 INTRODUCING The Jockey/Jacking pump controller is for the control and status display of a Jockey/Jacking pump. The intuitive design and functions of this controller has been designed to comply with the current Australian Standards.(AS ) DISPLAY AUTO OFF/ RESET MAN FEATURES The Jockey/Jacking pump controller provides the following features: Contactor and thermal overload protection for the pump Pump thermal fault lock out with keypad reset Keypad with Auto/Off/Manual buttons Momentary manual control, only while button is pressed Pressure switch input for automatic control Normally open volt free fault relay output 16x2 backlit LCD to display current status. Pump start counter and pump run hours Configurable run on timer for pump output PCB mounted pushbutton to place unit in configuration mode 1

3 POWER The controller is supplied in single phase 240Vac (FPC-70011) and three phase 415Vac (FPC-70013) models. CONNECTIONS Inputs The device has 2 inputs, each running from an internal 12Vdc power supply. Note that the inputs are not optically isolated and therefore care must be taken if connecting these to anything other than voltage free contacts. Safe devices are such as float switches, pressure switches or relay contacts Fault Output The unit provides a universal fault indication output for connection to BMS or other systems. This output is a set of voltage free relay contacts with a capacity of up to 1A and 24VDC. This output is open when the system is OK and closes when there is a pump fault. Pump Output The pump output switches 240VAC to directly control the pump contactor coil. Note that a small pump (<300W) could be switched directly, but the overload detection would not be included. When set to Off the pump output will remain off. In Automatic mode the pump operates under control of the inputs. Manual mode operation depends on the configuration, as described below.

4 KEYPAD The Jockey/Jacking pump keypad provides operator control via four buttons: Auto, Off, Manual and display. Keypad layout is as follows: DISPLAY AUTO OFF/ RESET MAN OPERATIONS System Mode Operation of the system depends on which mode it is in: Automatic, Off or Manual. When set to Off the pump output will remain off. In Automatic mode the pump operates under control of the inputs. Manual mode operation depends on the configuration, as described below. Automatic Operation In Automatic mode the pump operates under control of the inputs. Input 1 is a pump fault signal from the overload auxiliary contact (open on fault). Input 2 is the pump run input, supplied via a pressure or float switch (close to activate). If both inputs are closed then the pump will operate. Manual Operation Manual operation only works while the MAN button is pressed down. Once the button is released the pump will stop. 3

5 Run On Timer An optional feature for the controller is the run on timer, which causes the pump to run for a period of time after the pump run input opens. By default this is zero seconds, but through the configuration menu it can be set to any value up to 255 seconds. Pump Fault Regardless of the system mode, if the pump fault input opens then the pump is immediately switched off and the system enters a fault state. The fault output contacts will close, the system will remain in this state until reset. This facilitates the use of automatically resetting overloads. The fault can be reset by either cycling power to the unit or pressing and holding the OFF button for 3 seconds. OPERATOR INTERFACE The Jockey/Jacking controller features a 16 character by 2 line backlit LCD used to provide an operator interface. The LCD unit has been selected to provide high contrast over a wide range of viewing angles for best legibility in both dark and bright locations. All settings and statistics are persistent and will restore after power failure. In order to conserve power the LCD backlight operates automatically and switches on when a button is pressed. It will remain on for 2 minutes from the last button press. Main Screen The main screen is always displayed by default on the LCD: 4

6 This screen displays the system mode and pump state, including a small animated pump icon. Pressing the Auto, Off or Manual buttons will change the system mode accordingly: In the event of a fault the main screen will also report accordingly: Pressing the Display button on the keypad will change to the statistics screen. Statistics Screen The statistics screen lists the number of pump starts and elapsed run hours of the pump. The run time hours is displayed in the format [hours:mins]. 5

Firmware Revision Screen Pressing and holding the DISPLAY button for two seconds when either the main or statistics screen is visible will show the firmware revision of the device.
