5 2 Function 2 Function ID of Motion app Designation of Motion app Pictogram for Motion app 02 Proportional directional control valve Tab. 2.1 In order to operate the Motion app on a valve, the ID of the Motion app must be transmitted using the valve mode of the process data (bits in byte 0 (PDO)) ( Description of the Motion Terminal VTEM, function and parameterisation). 2.1 Functional description Motion App 02 makes it possible to model proportional directional control valves. There are two variants to choose from: 2x 3/3-way and 1x 4/3-way valve function. Using a setpoint value signal of 100 % to +100 %, it is possible to specify both the direction of flow and the degree of opening. With a setpoint value in the region of 0 %, the valve adopts the closed mid-position. The particular valve position is detected and fed back by means of integrated stroke sensors. With the 4/3-way valve type, only the setpoint value for port (2) is specified. The setpoint value of port (4) is transmitted as the inverted setpoint value of port (2) for the 4/3-way valve type. The working ports (2) and (4) can be pressurised or exhausted using a proportional directional control valve function. There are two options for controlling the ports: Joint control of both ports (corresponds to the function of a 4/3-way proportional directional control valve) Flow Fig. 2.1 Festo VTEM-MA02-EN English 5

In additional it is possible to determine whether the two ports are blocked or active (set value status ). 7 2 Function 2.4 System parameters used None 2.5 Application parameters used Characteristic (2) The parameter specifies the characteristic of the regulator for working port (2). Possible characteristics Precise: The set value for the valve cross section is achieved as accurately as possible; the recovery time is longer. Universal: Balanced relationship between accuracy and recovery time Fast: The set value for the valve cross section is achieved as quickly as possible; the accuracy is lower. 8 2 Function Control of the Motion app (app control) Activating the proportional directional control valve function The proportional directional control valve function can be activated or deactivated using the control bits in byte 0 (PDO). The 2x 3/3 proportional directional control valves can be operated independently of one another. If the proportional directional control valve function is deactivated, the associated working ports are blocked. A blocked port does not respond to changes in the setpoint values. 9 2 Function 2.7 Return values Status of Motion app (app state) Status of the digital inputs (end position detection) The status of the inputs of the digital input module CTMM-...-D-... that are assigned to the valve currently in use ( Description of the Motion Terminal VTEM, function and parameterisation) is given by bits 2 and 0 in byte 1 (PDI). This status information is only available if proximity sensors are installed in the end positions of the drive.
