7 2 Function 2.1 General The product is intended for operation as a controller in an automation system CPX-E and can be programmed with CODESYS in accordance with IEC Communication with a higher-order controller takes place via a EtherNet/IP network with real-time protocol (RT). Communication with a PC takes place via one of two network connections (Ethernet), which is connected to the controller by an integrated switch. Standard Ethernet (TCP/IP) and Modbus TCP are also supported. The integrated switch supports both star and line topology and enables the division of the network into segments. With the use of additional switches and routers, the network can be divided into additional segments. This makes it possible to structure the network and achieve greater network expansion Crossover detection (auto MDI/MDI-X) The product supports crossover detection (auto MDI/MDI-X), which means that there is the option of using patch cables or crossover cables. When using patch cables and crossover cables in the network, crossover detection must be activated in the higher-order controller. Festo CPX-E-CEC-...-EP

8 2.2 Internal address assignment In addition to the controller CPX-E-CEC, a maximum of 10 modules is permitted in one automation system CPX-E. The address space of an automation system CPX-E is limited. The controller provides the automation system CPX-E with a maximum address space of 64 bytes for inputs and 64 bytes for outputs. The internal addresses for the inputs and outputs of the automation system CPX-E are assigned automatically. 10 2.5.2 Rotary switch Rotary switch Function The 3 rotary switches are used to set the 4th octet of the IP address for the EtherNet/IP network connection: XXX. Possible settings 0 = use the internal configuration (factory setting) = Permissible address range 999 = reset to factory setting For invalid values, the internal configuration is used. 11 2.5.3 Operator unit CDSB (optional) Overview The operator unit CDSB is available as an optional accessory è Fig. 5 Fig. 6 CDSB operator unit As delivered, the interface to the controller CPX-E-CEC-...-EP is closed with a cover. The cover must be removed before plugging in the operator unit CDSB. For information on the assembly, general functions and the technical data of the operator unit see the Instruction manual for operator unit CDSB è 1.1 Further applicable documents. When the operator unit is plugged into the controller, it displays menus, information and symbols relating to the controller CPX-E-CEC-...-EP. After switching on the supply voltage to the controller, the operator unit CDSB automatically switches to the status display and displays the current status as start screen. 23 Time setting menu The following can be set using the "Settings" "Timeout" menu The period after which the start screen is displayed or the display returns from the CDSB menu to the main menu following inactivity. 24 Service menu In order that a project can be started via the operator unit CDSB: The run/stop switch must be in the Run position è Run/stop switch. The "Service" "Control" menu includes the commands for project control: "Start", "Stop" (default) and "Reset" ( Reset warm, which means that remanent data are retained). The user can select the chosen command by touching the "<" and ">" symbols. When activating"select": When a project is loaded: The selected command is executed and confirmed by briefly displaying the "OK" message. The higher-level menu "Control" is then displayed. If no project is loaded: The error message "No project loaded" is briefly displayed. The higher-level menu "Control" is then displayed. 26 2.6.3 Memory card slot The slot is used to save data and results to a memory card CAMC-M-MS-G32. The data are saved in the directory /mnt/sdcard. The data are accessed through SysFile and CAA.File è CODESYS libraries. Requirements: Maximum memory size: 32 GB Formatting: FAT32 (one partition only) Use only memory cards that are sold by Festo as accessories for the product è Festo does not provide any warranty for the use of other memory cards. The memory card slot is only intended for user-monitored operation. Do not use memory cards for continuous data recording. Memory cards cannot be used to execute CODESYS boot projects USB interface [USB] The USB interface (A-coded socket, USB specification 2.0) is used to save data and results to external storage media. The data from the USB memory are saved in the directory /mnt/usb. The data are accessed through SysFile and CAA.File è CODESYS libraries. Requirements: Maximum memory size: 32 GB Formatting: FAT32 (one partition only) NOTICE! Impermissible operating states of the controller result from high current consumption at the USB interface. Use only storage media with a current consumption of 0.5 A. The USB interface is only intended for user-monitored operation. Do not use storage media for continuous data recording. 27 2.7 Additional functions FTP server The controller provides an FTP server. The automation system CPX-E is online and has received an IP address but does not have a configured network connection. Communication has failed. 33 2.8.2 Diagnostics via EtherCAT The availability of diagnostic information via the EtherCAT network depends on the settings of the connected EtherCAT devices. Diagnostics via SDO access Diagnostic information can be requested from lower-order EtherCAT devices using SDO access. Diagnostics via diagnostics history The most recent diagnostic messages from lower-order EtherCAT devices can be displayed via the diagnostics object 0x10F3. An error message referenced with a code is displayed for every event (warning, error, information). A bus module CPX-E-EC, for example, provides 20 diagnostic messages. The diagnostic messages are converted via the ESI file and can then be evaluated by the CODESYS application Diagnostics history (object 0x10F3) The diagnostic messages of the lower-order EtherCAT device are stored in the diagnostics history by the object 0x10F3. Acknowledge mode: A diagnostic message must first be acknowledged before it can be overwritten with a new diagnostic message. When the number of unacknowledged diagnostic messages reaches 20, new diagnostic messages will not be saved and will be lost. The operating mode for diagnostic messages can be read and written using diagnostics object 0x10F3 (Subindex 5, Bit 4).
