8 ASEM Education Hub Thematic Network on Human Security About the Network Human security is a conceptual framework that covers both traditional and non traditional aspects of security issues. The European security strategy paper A secure Europe in a better world (2003) presents in the introduction a clear approach on human security. Thanks to its embracing nature, the Human Security conceptual framework can serve as overarching umbrella for Europe-Asia discussion on security issues. Addressing strategic topics for the present and future Asia-Europe relations, a dialogue in the field of Human Security among ASEM countries will contribute to the promotion of mutual understanding and conflict prevention. The ASEM Education Hub Thematic Network on Human Security aims at fostering academic high level exchanges and cooperation among Universities and Research Centres of Excellence from Europe and Asia on human security issues, with a special emphasis on non-traditional aspects of security issues.
