7 Project objective The overall objective is to co-create and deploy innovative solutions for safer and more efficient waterborne operations. The project has seven specific objectives

8 1: Maritime Cloud Create and implement a ground-breaking communication framework the Maritime Cloud that will enhance information sharing in and around the maritime sector for smarter traffic management, facilitating a comprehensive e- maritime and e-navigation environment, enabling the maritime internet of things. Maritime Cloud VIDEO

9 2: e-navigation services Identify, develop, test and, where possible, standardise and implement e- navigation solutions that will reduce the risk of accidents, especially in dense waterways, as well as increase the efficiency of the transport chain. 7 different e-navigation services will be matured and developed in the project

10 3: e-maritime services Develop, test and, where possible, implement e-maritime solutions for automated reporting and efficient port information and, thus, minimise delays and turnaround times as well as administrative burdens. 3 services to decrease administrative burdens will be matured and developed

11 4: Emergency response solution for Arctic Create and implement navigational support services and a new self-organizing emergency response solution in remote and difficult environments such as the Arctic in order to reduce the risk of loss of life 4 solutions for Arctic will be matured and developed in the project

12 5: SOx emissions monitoring service Develop solutions to monitor emissions with a focus on SO x and conduct validation trials in the Baltic Sea Region. A service for monitoring information about vessels SOx emissions will be developed

13 6: Novel communication channels Create innovative and cost-effective solutions with novel communication technology to deal with ships challenge of getting access to information services at a reasonable price, especially in remote places such as the Arctic. Work will focus on maturing VDES (VHF Data Exchange System)

14 7: Standardisation and harmonisation Set the technical and governance standard for the above areas, particularly in regards to e-navigation solutions. The consortium has the experience and capabilities necessary, not only to create new and innovative technology, but also to transform these into international standards and globally accepted best practices as well as getting it all the way out to the users. Direct work by partners in standard-setting organisations such as the IHO, IEC, WMO, ITU and IALA as well as influencing the regulative regimes in the EU and IMO in particular will be important outputs of the project.

15 First the Arctic and Baltic then the rest of the globe A number of services will be made operationally available during the project in the Baltic Sea Region and the Arctic. The services will initially be made available on a web-based platform. Equipment manufacturers in the project will implement a few services in the project. The aim is through standardisation to prepare all services to be implemented globally and reach the users through onboard equipment
