3 The locations of SpeedCast s Australian teleports have been chosen to strategically complement each other and provide customers with additional levels of redundancy and diversity. All three teleports are owned and operated by SpeedCast, providing us with access to a greater number of satellites and geographically diverse fibre links between regions, thus offering choice and tailored options for our customers. We account for all functional and performance, statutory and regulatory requirements. All field engineering staff have participated in factory training on all major components necessary to deliver satellite services for both land and sea. 6 SpeedCast s s are interconnected via a dedicated, uncontended and fully redundant terrestrial network to the core Data Centre infrastructure located in Perth and Sydney. Backbone Network SpeedCast connects all its sites in Australia via a high quality, low latency and uncontended terrestrial backbone, providing high-speed links for hosted customers. Our 10 Gbps fibre ring in Sydney enables local peering with Equinix & Pipe Networks along with high-speed transit peering, and peering in Perth via WAIX with optimised pathing for WA customers. 7 SpeedCast s unique satellite and backbone network infrastructure allows us to seamlessly combine and deliver Inmarsat Fleet Broadband and BGAN-based technologies with Ku & C Band VSAT services via one global private network. L-Band Capabilities Utilising our Earth Station in Henderson, WA we are able to connect to our wide DLAN network consisting of over 25 maritime dealers, delivering customers data and voice traffic with an enhanced level of performance and security. In addition, this facility hosts customers equipment and links remote sites to fibre and PSTN networks. Our Sydney PoP operates within the Global Switch facility and is fully connected to the Henderson, enabling intelligent routing of IP Data traffic to be exchanged between HQ and the remote site without traversing the Internet. SpeedCast has over two decades of experience in Mobile Satellite Services (MSS), offering a wide range of products on the networks of Inmarsat, Iridium and Thuraya. SpeedCast is a leading provider of legacy Inmarsat networks, and using our PoP infrastructure in Sydney, we are directly interconnected with Inmarsat s satellite network via a Point to point secure IP link. 8 Case Studies Background Satellite to All Remote Sites (STARS) project is a Northern Territory Government initiative of supplying a broadband VSAT network to extend its Department of Education and Training (DET) multimedia distance learning program to over 210 remote sites. Opportunity NTG required connectivity to the new remote sites as well as enable the number of Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) lessons via inbound video connectivity. Results SpeedCast delivered a dedicated and redundant broadband IP capable satellite communication network together with satellite bandwidth, utilising idirect technology and Ku-Band satellite capacity. Users of the STARS network have reported performance far exceeding the prior system allowing broadband intensive activities not possible with the previous system. Background The Kimberley region is one of nine regions in the top end of Western Australia. It is so remote that many towns are not accessible by road. Opportunity Results The Western Australian and Federal Governments required reliable and cost effective communications infrastructure for the Kimberley Region Connectivity was required for 12 locations, including base camps, construction sites and remote rig sites which require rapid mobilisation and demobilisation SpeedCast provided a mix of solutions including containerised satellite data and voice communications units, network services, and mobile satellite solutions Primary and secondary satellite connections, providing redundancy and greater availability. Background Perh-based network integrator Amstar and SpeedCast have been selected to provide vital communications services to the Gorgon Project, one of the world s largest natural gas projects, operated by Chevron. Opportunity Chevron required high performance and tailored communications for operational and administrative purposes, as well as personal Internet and phone services for more than 1000 staff living on-site. Results Using SpeedCast s wholesale satellite solution, Amstar deployed satellite services through SpeedCast s Bayswater to provide management and workers on the Gorgon project with: Greater access and management of their sites In-room entertainment Internet, Voice and pay phones to permanent and temporary accommodation villages on Barrow Island. Background A satellite communications solution was required to aid the construction of a circa 950 kilometre pipeline for Epic Energy, from Wallumbilla in South East Queensland to Moomba in South Australia. Opportunity Nixon Communications in conjunction with SpeedCast, were required to provide and manage communications via satellite to all campsites along the pipeline.
