4 Asia Green IT Forum Portal Site In the Asia Green IT Forum, we created a joint statement as attached. Now, to discover further each other s activities as noted in the statement, we have built a portal site for the Asia Green IT Forum within the GIPC Japan website.

5 Promotion of Green IT at WEF - Las Vegas 17th World Electronics Forum (WEF) January 10, 2011 Las Vegas The WEF is held annually as an occasion for the heads of industrial associations around the world to exchange information on issues of mutual interest, deepen ties between their associations, and work together to deal with shared problems. * The meeting drew around 70 participants from 22 countries. The international activities of the GIPC were outlined, along with the direction the GIPC plans for its future international partnership. Other countries were encouraged to pursue green IT.

6 Promotion of Green IT in APEC - San Francisco APEC Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) and related meetings September 12-26, 2011 San Francisco, CA Sub-Committee on Standards and Conformance Conference on Aligning Energy Efficiency Regulations for ICT Products September 12, San Francisco, CA Aligning Energy Efficiency Metrics of Data Center Nomura Research Institute The presentation outlined government-private sector cooperation among Japan, the US and Europe toward establishing the Data Center Performance Per Energy (DPPE) metric as an international standard.

8 Annual Meeting of Taiwan-Japan Business Dialogue This dialogue has been held annually since 2009 to encourage business matching between Japan and Taiwan in areas such as e-commerce, green IT and digital content to promote partnership between Japanese and Taiwanese IT business. The event attracts a wide range of participants from both countries IT industry and research Institutes and other key figures. 10 Training Program on Green IT for Asia ー Training in Japan ー Trainees from eight Asian countries were invited to Japan to learn about green IT initiatives and cases here. October 7-14, 2011 Tokyo, Japan Invitations were extended to 30 green IT professionals from industry, business and government in China, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Indonesia and the Philippines.

14 Survey on Energy Saving by IT in Asia The government of Japan arranges surveys on energy saving by IT which utilize advanced Japanese energy saving/control technologies in Asian countries. GIPC member companies conduct surveys in the following facilities. 22 Overview of DPPE Measurement Project Energy consumption at domestic data centers is being measured to test the practicality of DPPE as an energy-saving metric and ascertain the actual state of energy consumption in data centers. Project overview Duration: August 2011 onward (currently underway) Target: 28 data centers Businesses: 21 *Energy consumption will also be measured at one data center in Vietnam and one in Singapore. 24 International Coordination on Metrics (Japan-US-EU International Workshops) GIPC and US and EU organizations (both private and public sector) have held a succession of Japan-US-EU workshops toward the global harmonization of metrics for data center energy efficiency. 30 Green IT Awards 2011 METI Minister s Awards ( Of IT ) NTT DATA CORPORATION Private cloud system Lindacloud This system is designed with consideration for customers convenience and planned from the viewpoint of a system integrator. It is attracting attention from industry and is highly regarded. The focus on private cloud computing using a simple design instead of extravagant specifications as well as the improved energy consumption thanks to the redesigned heat radiation will be extremely valuable.

31 Green IT Awards 2011 METI Minister s Awards ( By IT ) Panasonic Group, SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. Energy-saving efforts through cooperative control of energy-creation, energy-storage, and energy-saving devices utilizing IT Large-scale demonstration tests in Kasai Green Energy Park SANYO Electric is making various efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, including energy creation by photovoltaic modules, energy storage using a large-scale storage battery system, and energy utilization through visualization technology based on IT. These efforts are considered outstanding since they use many existing energy-saving technologies such as LEDs and brightness sensors. Though the Kasai Green Energy Park is currently undergoing demonstration tests and has not yet been evaluated as a plant, it has been running for one year since it was set up last October. This example is expected to provide many insights into how to combine energy creation and energy storage in the future.
