6 CAPACITY EXCHANGE VALUES: ETSO definitions (I) A MW B TRM ATC NTC TTC NTC (Net Transfer Capacity) ATC (Available Transfer Capability) TTC (Total Transfer Capability) TRM (Transmission Reliability Margin) NTF (Notified Transmission Flow) NTF T (horas) TTC determination (A B) : the generation in A system is increased (and decreased in B system) the physical flow from A to B is increased until a security criteria is violated. 6

7 CAPACITY EXCHANGE VALUES: ETSO definitions (II) The Net Transfer Capacity NTC: Maximum total exchange program (MW) between two interconnected power systems available for commercial purposes, for a certain period and direction of active power flow. NTC is obtained from subtracting the corresponding TRM from TTC. NTC = TTC-TRM The Total Transfer Capacity TTC: Maximum total exchange program (MW) between two interconnected power systems compatible with the fulfilment of the security standards d established by the respective power systems, for a certain period and direction of active power flow The Transmission Reliability Margin TRM which is a security margin that copes with uncertainties on the computed TTC values 7
