Security directly impacts reliability, availability and functional safety. There is no safety without security. Novel architectures with Ethernet and increasingly open interfaces demand new mechanisms to ensure security and thus protect the functional safety. The development of protected E/E systems starts with systematic evaluation of safety hazards and security threats. On this basis safety and security requirements are identified and implemented. Verification and validation has to be done thoroughly, such as regression tests and efficiently to control cost. 6 > Modern railway vehicles carry an On Train Monitoring Recorder (OTMR), analogous to the black box on airplanes. In late 2014, Fishbone Solutions embarked on an R&D project funded by Angel Trains which identified a lot of valuable information within the OTMR. This presentation will demonstrate how the algorithms developed by Fishbone Solutions have been used to interpret this raw data and how Vector vsignalyzer software can visualise this data. The future potential to roll out the solution as a key aid to predictive maintenance and opportunities to supplement the OTMR data with additional Vector hardware will also be explored. 15:30 10 How to Improve Software Quality by Ensuring Testing Completeness Jason Evans, Field Application Engineer at Vector Software > For any organization building software, the first step to improving quality should be to understand what they are currently testing. One of the easiest ways to measure existing testing completeness is to add code coverage analysis to the test process. Code coverage measurement can be deployed throughout the development lifecycle without requiring a huge investment in time and money, or negatively impacting the project schedule.
