2 1. Project outline An exploratory piece of work to evaluate the opportunity to connect AstraZeneca s various Cambridgeshire based facilities to the existing GBN (Granta Backbone Network), to enable the fast and transparent transfer of data between AstraZeneca sites, collaborating institutions and access to national and international network resources via Janet. AstraZeneca have provided a number of locations that they would wish to be connected via the University fibre optic network (specifications detailed later in this document). The proposed extensions are based upon the following presumptions: (a) All sites will be connected via a physically diverse ring for resilience purposes. (b) Costs provided are indicative at this stage. Dependent upon urgency of connectivity, prices may vary to include additional contract labour to assist in implementation. Conversely, if extensions to the network (specifically the Milton Road Science Park) can be aligned with proposed City Council redevelopment, implementation costs would reduce. (c) All prices are excluding VAT. (d) The costs are broken down into four discrete projects, each of which may be permitted in isolation. Page 2 of 9

Existing connected sites available to GBN customers Connection to the GBN will not only provide direct fibre connectivity between those locations, but also to the existing GBN customers and partners. GBN Specification Subject to negotiation, the GBN installs standard telecommunications specification: (a) 90mm ducting (not shared with BT or Virgin Media) (b) Minimum of 144 core (72 pair) OS2 steel taped armoured fibre (c) Presentation within locations as per customer specification i.e. FC/UPC, LC/UPC etc. (d) Dark fibres can be provided either between AstraZeneca sites or between AstraZeneca and another customer on the GBN. (e) Whilst lit circuits for routed data traffic is monitored for service availability, dark fibre is not visible to the Network service department and service monitoring would need to be performed in collaboration with the customers. 8. Capital and operational expenditure The GBN is an asset owned by the Collegiate University. The operation and expansion of this network is self-funding but not for profit. It would be anticipated that the GBN would recover the costs of extension over a reasonable period of time, although whether this is through a capital implementation charge or recurrent operational (lease) charges is open to negotiation. All proceeds from the GBN are re-invested into the service to either extend its reach or improve resilience. Page 5 of 9
