6 Economical. Simple metering by Walk-By and Drive-By Walk-By is the easiest way to access remote meter reading. The energy data is simply collected in passing using a tablet computer with a mobile radio receiver, for example. But also when using Drive-by at 50km/h, the new generation of Diehl Metering radio technology is able to read every single meter. Climb aboard! With automated mobile metering, energy data is simply collected as often as is necessary and reasonable. You simply follow your route at up to 50km/h. Residential areas can be easily covered on foot. Metering takes place using an IZAR BT receiver and IZAR@Mobile, the appropriate software automatically and within seconds. Using high-performance IZAR PLUS radio technology, high-quality, current data can be harnessed with minimum effort. Automated metering in a flash Readings for individual household meters is work-intensive and expensive: individual appointments have to be made. If the end user fails to show up for the appointment, the journey to the house was in vain. This means billing to the cut-off date is impossible: when tenants change, there is often no valid data for the final billing. In particular, shaft metering according to legal safety regulations is complex, tying up personnel, time and costs. With the help of radio technology, they were able to lower the error rate from 8 % to 0.5 %, with reading efficiency rising sharply. Appointments are no longer necessary. Additionally, certain city districts are targeted and readings more frequently carried out if leakages are suspected. With the planned installation of smart ELICIUS electricity meters, Lauterbach Municipal Utilities will nearly double their system efficiency. In the future, radio-ready electricity meters will be read at the same time as water meters, with no additional effort necessary. No additional investment in readout technology is necessary

Because of high system performance in terms of coverage and current data, fewer receivers are needed for the radio network. As a result, urban or industrial locations with a high density of meters, as well as widespread settlements, can be run with considerably lower planning, maintenance and investment costs. Unidirectional radio communication guarantees data security: all energy data is only analysed and interpreted once it has reached the energy supplier. Water meters, too, have already been integrated into the infrastructure. Now, Wiener Netze GmbH is testing the integration of electricity meters in a pilot project. The results concerning system performance and reading frequency are excellent: Using Diehl Metering radio technology, gas meters are continuously read every 15 minutes. The original target of achieving valid daily values has thus been far exceeded. 100 % of meters are successfully read each day. Wiener Netze uses the complex energy data for billing purposes.
