3 Phase II: School Safety Report School Safety Diagnostic for Schools School Safety Requirements 1. Does the public school building have an Emergency Management Plan (EMP)? Baker Intermediate School has an Emergency Management Plan. This plan is reviewed annually by the Baker Intermediate School SBDM Council. In addition, the Emergency Management Plan is reviewed with all staff certified and classified staff members. 2. Did the SBDM Council adopt a policy requiring the development and adoption of an EMP? For public school buildings without an SBDM council, did the district adopt a policy requiring the development of an EMP? Provide the date of adoption in the comments box below. Baker Intermediate School's SBDM Council has a policy requiring the development, adoption, and annual review of the Emergency Management Plan. The Baker Intermediate School Emergency Management Plan Policy was adopted by the SBDM Council on November 5, This policy is reviewed annually by the SBDM Council. 3. Did the SBDM Council or district adopt the EMP? Provide the date of adoption in the comments box below. The Clark County Public Schools District has an Emergency Management Plan. Baker Intermediate's Emergency Management Plan aligns with the district and is specific to the needs and logistics of the school. Baker Intermediate School's Emergency Management Plan was adopted by the Baker Intermediate School SBDM Council on November 5, The policy has been reviewed every school year since. 4. Has the public school building provided the local first responders with a copy of the building's EMP and a copy of the building's floor plan? Baker Intermediate School has provided first responders with a copy of the school's Emergency Management Plan and a copy of the building floor plan. 5. Has the EMP been annually reviewed and revised as needed by the SBDM council (when applicable), principal and first responders? Baker Intermediate School's Emergency Management Plan is reviewed and revised as needed by the SBDM Council, principal, and first responders. The policy and plan was most reviewed by the SBDM Council and principal on September 6, The first responders were provided a copy of Baker Intermediate School's Emergency Management Plan in October Page 3 of 6
4 6. Was the EMP reviewed with the faculty and staff prior to the first instructional day of the school year? Baker Intermediate School's Emergency Management Plan is reviewed with all staff certified and classified staff members prior to the first instructional day of the school year. The review of the Emergency Management Plan with teachers and staff occurred on August 14, Were local law enforcement and/or fire officials invited to review the EMP? Local law enforcement and fire officials were provided a copy of the Emergency Management Plan and were invited to witness drills and to provide feedback to school officials. 8. Are evacuation routes posted in each room at any doorway used for evacuation, with primary and secondary routes indicated? Every classroom and office area has evacuation routes posted within each doorway. These evacuation maps primary and secondary routes. 9. Has the local fire marshal reviewed the designated safe zones for severe weather and are they posted in each room? The local fire marshal and fire department has reviewed the designated safe zones for severe weather. Safe zone signs are posted above the door of each safe zone and rooms. The Emergency Management Plan were provided to the Clark County fire departments in October Have practices been developed for students to follow during an earthquake? Baker Intermediate School has developed practices for students and staff to follow during an earthquake. 11. Has the public school building developed and adhered to practices designed to ensure control of access to the public school building (i.e., controlling access to exterior doors, front entrance, classrooms, requiring visitor sign-in and display of identification badges)? Baker Intermediate School has developed and adhered to practices designed to ensure control of access to the public school building. All exterior doors remained locked throughout each school day. All visitors must sign-in and wear a visitors badge. The SBDM adopted a visitors policy on October 4, Page 4 of 6
5 12. Has the public school building completed all four emergency response drills during the first 30 days of the school year? (Fire in compliance with Fire Safety regulations, Lockdown, Severe Weather and Earthquake). Baker Intermediate School completed all four emergency response drills during the first 30 days of the school year. The first instructional day of the school year occurred on Wednesday, August 16, Fire and earthquake drills were conducted on August 17, A severe weather drill was conducted on August 18, A lockdown was conducted on August 29, Are processes in place to ensure all four emergency response drills (Fire in compliance with Fire Safety regulations), Lockdown, Severe Weather and Earthquake) will occur within the first thirty instructional days beginning January 1? There are processes in place to ensure all four emergency drills (fire, lockdown, severe weather, and earthquake) occurs within the first thirty instructional days beginning January 1. Baker Intermediate School conducts monthly drills and submits the drill record sheets to central office. Page 5 of 6
