1 CAMS Enterprise Update Release Revision Date: 07/24/2016 This document describes the items that are being deployed in the CAMS Enterprise Update Release. Enhancements, modifications, and system corrections are included and are categorized primarily by module. Those items needing CAMS Manager attention have been noted as such. For detailed information and instructions on the functionality additions and changes, refer to the online help files located in the CAMS Enterprise application and/or the updated PDF manuals which can be downloaded from the CAMS Community Website. Note that portal updates are not automatically installed on your site and must be applied by your institution. General 1. In CAMS Enterprise installations where SQL 2005 is still being used, a consistent news article will display on the CAMS Enterprise home page in the CAMS News & Updates section indicating that Microsoft has ended support for SQL ***CAMS Manager Action Required Microsoft ended support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 on April 12, If your instance of SQL is 2005, please consider upgrading to a version that is supported. 2. Error logging for reading/writing to the CAMS cookie has been improved in CAMS Enterprise. If CAMS fails to write/read the cookie, an alert message will pop-up indicating the error. The CAMS Enterprise cookie stores the database name, server name, and other information that is necessary for every user interface screen in the system. Admissions 1. The Prospect and Student BYOR criteria have been enhanced to better utilize the High School Lookup Codes that have been entered for schools. A new required field, Code Type, has been added to the Find function of the High School Code List's criteria. When selecting High Schools from the Find list, the schools selected must have a Code Type matching what is chosen in the Find window. This will help ensure schools entered in the High School Lookup have the correct Code Type entry in the Codes grid in order to ensure accuracy in reporting. 2. The Prospect BYOR Export reports were not exporting the results when any Event criteria was selected. The Export reports will now correctly export the results. 3. High Schools were not displaying on the Prospect BYOR if the High School was added to CAMS after the update, where multiple High Schools were allowed. High Schools will now correctly display on all reports that include them in the output. 4. For Students with multiple high schools, score reports were not returning accurate data for ACT and SAT due to the views being used. The score reports will now report accurate data for all students. 2 Registration Billing 1. The Transfer detail window has been enhanced. Previously the Credits, Transcript Att. Hours, and Clock Hours fields defaulted to zero. To facilitate easier entry, these fields now default to blank so that the zero does not have to be removed or overwritten. 2. The "Changed By" fields were not updating in Degree Audit Setup Programs tab when a user updated a Program. These user audit fields now correctly update when a CAMS user updates a Program. 3. With Tuition Billing Mode set to "Standard Full-Time" and a Cost Center's Audit Rate set to "Flat", when dropping an Audit course an error occurred and the course could not be dropped. Audit courses can now correctly be dropped in this scenario. 4. Register List by Name Directory report has been corrected to not show withdrawn programs. 5. Custom Grade Catalog grades were not being counted towards prerequisites when entered in a Transfer Course that was used as an equivalent. These grades will now count correctly toward prerequisites. 6. The IPEDS Compliant Fall Enrollment report was not showing a correct count of First Time students. This has been corrected by using Course Start Dates instead of only Term Start Dates and omitting students that do not show up for any classes. 7. Students with two or more high schools were displayed multiple times on the IPEDS reports. Students with multiple high schools will now display once in the IPEDS reports. 8. When Degree Audit utilized SQL in Group setup, not all degree information displayed in the Student Portal. Student Portal Degree Audit will now display correctly when SQL is used in setup. 1. Billing Authorize has been enhanced with the addition of new criteria selections. Users now have the additional options of Cost Type and AR Type to further narrow the selection for Unofficial Registration authorization. 2. In Billing Authorize, when processing over 200 records, the window would sometimes not display the results. Results will now display correctly when a large number of records are processed. Financial Aid 1. Improved Financial Aid Maintenance reporting processes to better allow for different variables used by different versions of Crystal Reports. 2. When importing a PowerFAIDS file, an error occurred and the import would not succeed. PowerFAIDS files will now import without error. 3. The Award References Yearly COD Parameters was not allowing records to be added or updated. Yearly COD Parameters may now be added and/or updated appropriately. Release Date 07/27/2016 Page 2 of 6

3 CAMS Manager Tools 1. Faculty Portal has been enhanced with an override option to allow registration from the Faculty Portal if Schedule Registration prevents it. To override Schedule Registration to allow Faculty Portal registration, enable Override Schedule Registration Check in CAMS Manager >CAMS Portal >Portal Configuration >Faculty Configuration. 2. Application Portal Configuration and Grad App Portal Configuration windows were displaying all 10 possible test slots regardless of the amount selected in the "Number of Tests to Show" drop-down. These configuration windows will now display the correct number of test slots to set up. 1. When importing a PowerFAIDS file, an error occurred and the import would not succeed. PowerFAIDS files will now import without error. 2. When CIP Codes in the Major/Minor table consisted of more than 6 characters, the NSLC Export was capturing the left 7 characters, then incorrectly using the right 6 of those. In all cases the NSLC Export now uses the left six characters of the CIP Code as entered in the Major/Minor table. Release Date 07/27/2016 Page 3 of 6

4 CAMS Portals Important note about portal updates: When portal updates are distributed, it is not only the portal pages that are modified, but the associated COM objects as well. If you have moved your portals to a server separate from the CAMS Enterprise IIS server, you will need to ensure that you also update those COM files. To do this you will need to follow the instructions in item 1 below and either item 2a or 2b, depending on how you have your portal server set up. 1. Copy uiceupload.dll, CAMSSession.dll, LanapBotDetect.dll files from the UIDLL folder under CAMS Enterprise to the portal server and register them with regsvr32.dll 2. a. If you copy the files over as a proxy package, you will need to uninstall the previous packages before installing the new packages. Ensure that you copy the CAMS and CAMSAD packages over to your portal server. OR b. If you do not use the proxy package, you will need to do the following: Copy all the dll files in the MTSDLL folder under CAMS Enterprise to the portal server and re-register them in COM Copy the CAMSAD.dll file in the MTSDLL\CAMSAD folder to the portal server and register it/re-register it in its own package (i.e.: CAMSAD). The package should run with user privileges (identity). If the portals are on a domain other than the user account the CAMSAD package runs under, that user account must also be a user on the other domain if you want to log into the student portal using an active directory account from the domain CAMS Enterprise is on. NOTE: An alternative to the above procedure is to utilize the CAMS Enterprise Web Services functionality. Fewer DLL files will need to be copied; all communications between the CAMS IIS server and portal server are handled via port 80 or an SSL port; no COM+ object is required. 5 Faculty Portal How to Update the Faculty Portal ***CAMS Manager Action Needed Portal files will be downloaded to your CAMS Enterprise \ Portal Updates directory. If you do not (or have not yet) customized your portals, follow these instructions: If there are specific instructions below for the Faculty Portal, follow them precisely. If not, then simply MOVE all files from the CAMS Enterprise\Portal Updates\Faculty Portal to the installation directory for your Faculty Portal. Do not copy the folders but only the files in those subfolders to the same subfolder in the portal folder. If you do customize your portals follow these instructions: After making a backup of your customized portal pages, move the stock portal files for this update to the installation directory for your Faculty Portal then apply your customizations to the new, stock portal files. 1. Faculty portal has been enhanced with an override option to allow registration from the Faculty Portal if Schedule Registration prevents it. To override Schedule Registration to allow Faculty Portal registration, enable Override Schedule Registration Check in CAMS Manager >CAMS Portal >Portal Configuration >Faculty Configuration. 2. Final grades were not being calculated correctly in instances when students had multiple dropped grades. This has been corrected and now the Final Grade calculations are correct. 3. Schedule conflict warning was not appearing in the faculty portal when attempting to register students in courses that has a schedule conflict. This has been corrected and now the schedule conflict message appears. Student Portal How to Update the Student Portal ***CAMS Manager Action Needed Portal files will be downloaded to your CAMS Enterprise \ Portal Updates directory. If you do not (or have not yet) customized your portals, follow these instructions: If there are specific instructions below for the Student Portal, follow them precisely. If not, then simply MOVE all files from the CAMS Enterprise\Portal Updates\Student Portal to the installation directory for your Student Portal.
