1 JOB TITLE: Senior Database Administrator The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for managing multiple production and nonproduction Oracle, MSSQL, and PostgreSQL databases: 4 production Oracle database servers w/ 4 databases (2 primary and 2 at DR facility) 6 non-production Oracle database servers w/ databases (adjusts as needed for active projects) Each DBA is assigned as primary on 1-2 Agile teams and backup on 1-2 Agile teams. The individual works closely with the Software Development Manager, Enterprise Architects, Sr. Programmer Analysts, Front End Web Developers, the QA Manager, Automation QA Analysts, and Report Developers to deliver software solutions that support AF business strategies. The DBA also provides technical direction for new database technology and provides enterprise database standardization. The DBA is responsible for strategic planning & design of multiple database environments, including nearly real time replicated environments. The DBA ensures that AF databases are highly available and scalable. Communication and collaboration are key when interacting with internal and external stakeholders (technical and non-technical in nature) concerning AF database infrastructure. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES Application Database Development 40% Relational Database Modeling using ER Diagramming Software o Collaborates with Enterprise Architect and/or Developers on database schema architectural changes to support new development and enhancements to existing applications. o Develops and enforce standards for design and naming conventions for tables, columns, and data types. o Oversees database schema consistency of application development. o Documents tables and columns in both logical and physical models in ER diagramming software. o Maintains and implement reference integrity, check constraints, indexes and triggers. Develops & deploys structural (DDL) and data changes (DML) required by agile application development teams o Works in a fast-paced agile environment; provide support to multiple agile teams, complete tasks quickly and with high quality. o Adheres to change control policy to deploy database changes to production [in conjunction with AppDev code pushes or independent stand-alone DB changes]. o Provides technical database design and deployment experience in OLTP and DSS/Data Warehouse.

2 o Collaborates with Business Analysts/Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, Developers, and Automation QA Analysts in Agile framework, including but not limited to: Daily stand up meetings (task updates, commitments, parking lot) Story Grooming (requirement vetting &estimation) End of Sprint meetings (story close-out, product demos, retrospective) Sprint Planning (task assignment & accountability) o Partners with Developers to develop optimal technical solutions to user stories o Develops SQL DDL Scripts to implement data models and database designs o Programs PL/SQL of Packages, Procedures, Functions, and Triggers o Develops SQL DML Scripts for migration of new data sets (dev, QA, UAT, production databases) o Develops SQL DML Scripts for migration of data to support application changes impacting underlying database schema structure o Maintains scripts under version control o Maintains upkeep of high level reference data o Plans of deployment process for each database change script release and coordinating downtime and code push in coordinated effort with new application enhancement rollout. o Deploys database changes to all oracle database Environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Load, and Production). o Deploys database changes in a Multi-Master Replicated Environment using Oracle Enterprise Manager o Supports QA testing Acts as a Technical Resource for Developers, Report Developers, System Administrators: o Relational database methodologies and table relationships o Evolving database technologies and best practices o Application design in a multi-master replicated (active-active) environment o Schema structure and reference data of company applications o Data analysis o PL/SQL programming (includes creation/modification of triggers, functions, procedures, and packages for company applications ) o SQL coding and performance tuning o Backup/recovery and disaster recovery strategies for applications o Database server configuration Secure, Monitor, and Maintain Oracle Databases 20% Monitors and Maintains o Monitors 24-7 on-call production and non-production oracle databases using centralized Oracle Enterprise Manager for Monitoring and Alerting o Maintains and tunes Oracle Enterprise Manager including alerts, and RMAN catalog

3 o Monitors, diagnoses, investigates, and resolves database errors and issues related to performance, server resources, storage capacity, replication, and data o Performs capacity planning for growth of tables, database, and Netapp storage. o Physical design and implementation of Online Transaction Processing(OLTP) and Decision Support System(DSS) databases o Develops and maintains Linux shell scripts to automate routine and repetitive database administration tasks o Maintains licensing of Oracle products as well as other third party databaserelated software o Assists manager with budgeting and planning related to Oracle database administration. o Creates and maintain database-related technical documentation o Collaborates with IT Ops and Dev Ops on projects related to Oracle database servers (includes storage and snapshot management, hardware upgrades, VMWare updates, Linux OS changes) o Monitors databases during load testing and provide performance information to load tester Security o Manages database security and user privileges in conjunction with application owners, system admins, and technical services o Manages privilege/role/profiles o Quarterly reviews of user accounts o Fulfills audit and regulatory requests for database-related information Supports Technical Services o Installation and patching of Oracle client on laptop images o Troubleshoot reported issues; work with end-users as needed Cloning, Backup/Recovery, Data Replication, and Disaster Recovery 20% Designs, implements, and maintains backup & recovery/disaster recovery/replication strategies using Oracle/NetApp Collaborates with system administrators to implement backup & recovery/disaster recovery plans Researches and implements recovery/replication plans appropriate to each application schema residing in Oracle databases. Maintains multiple databases at geographically dispersed sites (Tampa and Charlotte) Responsible for data replication (use Oracle advanced data replication) Responsible for database backups (use NetApp snapdrive tech for backup, RMAN for catalog and recovery) Creates and maintains technical documentation for backup/recovery and DR plans Plans, implements, and conducts annual DR test Manages data imports & exports Maintains snapshots

4 Clones & restores databases for Dev, QA, Load and UAT Testing Upgrade/Patch Management 20% Schedules and Performs Oracle Database Software Upgrades and Patches o Responsible for database patch management o Installs and configures database management software (DBMS) o Reviews, tests, and implements database software upgrades and patches o Reviews, tests, and implements central enterprise manager software upgrades and patches o Partners with QA Manager & Agile teams to coordinate QA regression testing of impacted applications o Collaborates with IT Ops on hardware upgrades impacting database server VMs o Collaborates with Dev Ops on OS upgrades/patches for database server VMs Provides DBA Support for Third-Party Application Software Upgrades o Develops and maintains backup recovery and replication strategies for third party applications. o Monitors and implements quarterly CLEAN_ADDRESS address verification software updates. o Reviews, modifies for replication, and implements vendor provided updates of Empower accounting software. o Applies and tests updates of NetApp Snapdrive for Unix utility in coordination with IT Ops. o Provides support for other application development software using Oracle as database engine. o MS SQL Server and other database technologies o ETL development and maintenance REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Experience and Technical Knowledge Necessary: Minimum of 8 years Oracle database work experience. College degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, related field or equivalent work experience. Oracle OCP is a plus. Vast experience in problem solving / troubleshooting database connectivity and performance issues. Strong hands-on experience with the following technologies / environments: o Designing configuration of hardware and operating system for Oracle database servers o High availability concepts (preferably Advanced Multi-Master Replication, but equivalent Oracle Streams or Data Guard knowledge do translate) o Backup and Recovery knowledge required, including RMAN. o Linux scripting o Strong SQL and PL/SQL programming and debugging skills

5 o Expertise in database performance tuning o Working with Oracle database in a virtualized environment o San storage arrays and storage snapshotting technology o Maintaining multiple prod/non-prod databases in an agile SDLC environment o Use of Centralized Oracle Enterprise Manager o Change control management of database schemas and application reference data o Strong understanding of advance database architecture and technology o Understanding of Oracle licensing Certifications - One or more of the following: Oracle o OCP or OCM or OCE 10g, 11g, 12c MSSQL o MTA, MSCA PostgresSQL o EnterpriseDB Skills: This is a senior level DBA role with a large amount of work in the agile application development arena. Should possess experience in all phases of a development life cycle as well as working within development agile teams including project planning, estimating, application architecture, programming and testing. Limited travel is required as needed (up to 1-2 weeks per year) to support off-site databases and/or training. Key Competencies Include: Ability to mentor/train other DBAs and/or Developers where database knowledge intersects software development Excellent written and verbal communication Must possess strong problem solving skills and solid understanding of how to quickly troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues that involve databases. Must be able to research and implement recovery plans appropriate to any installed software. Independently reliable, performs tasks without close supervision Results oriented, demonstrates leadership and constructive cooperation with other departments Detail-oriented, methodical, and organized Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment.
