2 SI MEDIA TIMELINE SI Media is an Italian Software-house present in the broadcasting market for more than 30 years. Below the main stages of a long period of huge achievements: SI Media approaches new markets (Latin America, Asia and Africa) and in this period closes many important deals including OPMA, Teleformula and El Financiero (MEXICO), Iglesia Cristiana (Guatemala), Image, Omega and Kairali (INDIA) Contact TV, Asonga TV, Clubbing TV, TV Electron (AFRICA). Dr. Luigi Panozzo bases the IT Company EDS s.r.l (Elaborazione Dati e Sistemi), together with a partner, starting a service center and data entry that includes billing management also for the city of Castelfranco Veneto, accounting and billing management for some of the biggest footwear companies of North-East of Italy. The subsidiary Informatica & Cultura realizes, on behalf of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the cataloging of about 60,000 works of art in Veneto. First version of software packages SpotLine - MusicLine is released. The applications are made in Clipper under DOS environment, and become the first marketed solution in Italy for the management of advertising contracts and playlist creation for radio broadcasters. Servizi Informatici s.r.l. completes its first abroad installation in New York (USA), where the traffic modules SpotLine -ShowLine are installed to manage 13 television channels of the national network EABC (Ethnic American Broadcasting Company) based in New Jersey. Servizi Informatici s.r.l. begins to approach the foreign market by participating for the first time with its own stand to IBC (Amsterdam). The software becomes in compliance with the Louth communication protocol (VDCP), immediately applied in the first installation with video server Sea-Change BMC and later with Harris-Leitch NEXIO. All software modules migrate to Visual Basic 6 and to Sybase SQL 7.4 database engine and the new software module StoreLine to manage disks and tapes-archives is released. Servizi Informatici s.r.l. changes its brand to SI Media while maintaining the historic company s name and starts to quickly grow in the international market. At TVR (Romania), the first installation fully developed with. NET technology under Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is completed with software modules MediaPlay, MediaList, MediaRec and MediaDevice EDS s.r.l becomes exclusive dealership for IBM Personal Computer and a controlled agency for IBM systems. In the same time two software packages for trucking and leasing companies are released for the IBM company EDS s.r.l buys a radio frequency and repeats Radio Lattemiele s signal throughout the North-East of Italy and changes the company name to Servizi Informatici s.r.l., a private capital company born to be a software-house for radio production management applications. Servizi Informatici s.r.l. decides to enter the television market and releases the first version of the software package SpotLine -ShowLine for the management of advertising contracts and playlist creation for television broadcasters. After a few months starts a period of migration of all software packages from DOS to Microsoft Windows 95 platform, using Visual Basic 4 language and Microsoft Access as Database Engine Servizi Informatici s.r.l. implements the first version of the automation software for the television broadcasting market: RecLine, OnLine and DeviceManager, using MVCast boards for the encoding, Visual Circuits boards for the decoding of the clips and Mactronic servers as archives and video servers. The language of development is Visual Basic 5, while the database engine is Sybase SQL In this period Servizi Informatici s.r.l. totally renews all software modules moving from Visual Basic 6 to new platform. NET (Framework 2.0) taking the language Visual C#. The Sybase SQL database engine is replaced with Microsoft SQL Server Starting from the same year Servizi Informatici S.r.l. participate to NAB Show (Las Vegas) During the annual Broadcasting exhibition in Moscow (NATEXPO), SI Media receives the award for The Best Technological Project of the Year with its software (MediaStore) which has been successfully installed at the production company JV based in Moscow. From 2008 to 2010 SI Media completes several installations outside Italy: Televizija Vijesti (Montenegro), AlWatan TV (Kuwait), Nessma TV (Tunisia), Rain TV (Russia), Clubbing TV (France), JV (Russia). A new software module for creation and management of graphics projects on-air is released (MediaCG). 2 3

Today, SI Media is one of the leading providers with decades of experience in the development and deployment of Traffic, Playout Automation, Media Asset Management and NewsRoom solutions for TV Broadcasters. The SI Traffic, Automation, and Newsroom systems are available for deployment either as stand-alone solutions, or integrate in a harmonic and homogeneous workflow. In most of the cases it happens that the different devices can t speak to each other, significantly reducing the potential of the system. 8 Quality Check Proxy & KF Archive Manager Trasncoder MediaStore Client (Media Asset Management client interface) is the application module for the management of the broadcaster contents archive. It features a set of tools for advanced search and the preview of contents, using low-res copies generated by MediaStore Proxy. It allows a detailed indexing and categorization of contents using MediaStore Client s search engine and virtual path management in order to customize the organization of the contents. The metadata schema is flexible and fully customizable. In MediaStore Client it is possible to create baskets and export them in EDL/XML format to NLE systems. It has also its own integrated proxy-editing and an automatic import from P2\XDCAM memory cards. MediaStore HSM (LTO tape-based library manager) archives and restores assets in LTO tapebased or digital libraries. It accesses the library through the FC/SAS direct standard protocol (without the necessity to use third party s\w h\w), allowing SI Media to control directly many different brands of LTO libraries. The application includes an automatic function to verify the integrity of each tape and the possibility to compact empty or corrupted spaces. MediaStore HSM manages also a partial timecode-based restore from any digitized asset. MediaStore Coder (Transcoder server manager) handles the video format conversions across all the system, with the possibility to set up a transcoding farm linking together several transcoding servers. MediaStore Coder allows to create a multi-format platform with mixed workflows (HD- SD), generating and managing a complete list of supported Video Codecs, Media Containers and Audio Codecs. NLE Integration HSM Search & Cataloguing Web Client The SI Media (Media Asset Management) has been designed and developed to be the core of the contents delivery platform. The application suite allows to manage multi-format contents in a deeply integrated and customizable workflow. Our is the perfect bridge among the different devices that are part of your system, thanks to the SI Media long-time experience in the integration of 3rd party devices and software modules (by now more than 200). With our quality-check and transcoder application modules we ensure that video and audio contents which enter the system comply your desired standards and we give the possibility to transcode contents from any to any format, depending on their final destination (video-servers, web platforms, ftp servers and many others). Our server applications easily allow to manage a flow integrated with all the most important NLE systems (Avid, GV Edius, Adobe Premiere, Apple FCP, Sony Vegas) and to configure a hierarchical storage management (for example to retrieve contents from LTO tape libraries). The user-friendly client solution (available also as web-application), ensures the possibility to easily organize and catalogue the contents of huge archives, search among them, edit and customize the metadata, use our own proxy-editing engine. MediaStore Manager (Media Workflow Manager) is an application suite for the management of the media assets life cycle (creation, metadata retrieval, transfers across different levels of storage, deletion and delivery to final destinations as web, mobile and playout). At any moment, following the rules defined into the integrated workflow manager, MediaStore can automatically move the assets throughout different level archives both in IT and\or server-branded platforms. This rulebased automation frees operators from any manual activity. The Workflow Manager can also automate import from FTP sources or watch-folders and export of contents or baskets to FTP servers, Youtube and other social networks. MediaStore Manager is designed to be cooperative and multi-threading; new servers can be added at any time to scale up the system elaboration power in order to fairly distribute the workload. MediaStore Proxy (Low-Resolution (Proxy) generator) manages the macro functions of Proxying, Key Framing, Subtitling, Story Frames (i.e. Story Board) Generation and Transcoding. Media Store Proxy can import subtitles from SRT files, or auto-generate them through the integrated speech detection module. The filling phase is automatically taken in charge by when an asset comes into the system, in each desired format and bitrate. MediaStore Web (Web client interface) is the application developed by SI Media to allow users to access the main functions of newsroom from any place. It means that just with the use of a network connection, each operator can: enter the asset archive; search, index and tag the contents; edit metadata and also mark or cut the clips (using proxy preview), manage a basket and export the EDL to any NLE system. Users can also create new stories and rundowns, linking audio-video contents and\or baskets to each press report. MediaStore QC (File-based Quality Check) is a complete analysis of the incoming assets that allows to optimize the flow throughout the system, to significantly reduce the handling time of each file and problems concerning input formats. It is composed by: a depth static analysis of the incoming contents; a play-test to check each file and its compatibility; a search for black or frozen frames, for absence of audio and/or audio peaks; the possibility to assign quality certificates to the contents or features to comply, and from this define a rule to manage them

9 Base band Ingest Edit-While-Ingest Base Band Ingest (MediaRec) is the application to ingest from VTR, satellite and live feeds, ensuring the automatic control of A/V Routers or Matrix and the switch from one signal to another. It is possible to set a multiple encoding from the same ingestion session in different formats, to see the audio and video previews of the incoming signals, to add and edit the metadata of the contents while ingesting. MediaRec can also schedule the encoding sessions (Tasks) to record at fixed times and dates and monitor at any time the status of each task. Edit While Ingest (MediaRec): this function allows to see the preview of the incoming assets, edit the contents and create bookmarks while the ingestion session is still open. Thanks to this, the clips can be inserted in the playlist and/or in the rundowns ready to be on-air before the completion of the creation and import of the complete asset. Live Feeds Craft Editing FIle Ingest Bookmarks Insertion The SI Media contribution area is responsible for manual and automatic scheduling of both video signal ingest from VTR, satellite and live feeds and for file ingest from FTP servers and watch folders. Thanks to SI Media s versatility, through the application MediaRec it is possible to encode both from a capture card such as AJA LHe+ or AJA Corvid22 to generate SD or HD contents and from an external Video Server like Harmonic, Grass Valley, Harris, XOR and many others. The application ensures the possibility to generate at the same time high quality and low-resolution copy (i.e. proxy) during an ingestion session and remotely control devices as VTRs, Cart Machines or Audio/Video Routers for the automatic assignment of the video source that is going to be recorded. Edit-while-ingest and play-while-ingest allow to save time working on a content on flight, while the ingestion is not finished yet. File Ingest SI Media s ingest applications ensure the possibility to set an automatic import from FTP servers and/or watch folders. It means that when the new contents in each format are available in a configured path, automatically takes in charge the import in the system and the delivery to any destination. The incoming assets can be checked by SI Media s Quality-Check, and if required by the customers they can be transcoded or normalized in any desired format during the acquisition. Play While Ingest (MediaRec): the play-while-ingest enables to put contents directly on-air while the ingestion session is not closed yet, saving the time required to copy the incoming contents to the central archive in order to make them available for the delivery at the closure of the ingestion. It is the best solution when the operator needs to acquire a long and big-sized content and cannot wait the completion of the process to put it on-air. Craft Editing (MediaRec): this function allows the operator to create bookmarks during an ingestion and transcode them into physical assets without the necessity to wait the completion of the ingest process. Proxy Editing SI Media has a powerful integrated proxy-editing tool with its own transcoding engine, which displays a timeline where to edit videoclips, audio-clips and baskets. It is possible to concatenate clips or part of them, add to the project a voiceover audio track, untie video from audio and merge with effects and transitions such as fade, crossfade and also to insert graphics projects thanks to the integration with MediaCG engine. The proxy-editing allows also to split a clip, cut-cut sub-clips, to compact as desired the empty spaces among the different clips and to manage many multi-format audios at the same time

10 Secondary Events AD Insertion Pre Billing As Run Log Reports & Analysis MediaList (daily playlist creation and management) manages the creation of the daily playlist for unlimited automation channels and the import of advertising playlist both created by SI Media s MediaSpot module and from external agencies through the automatic import of xml or xls files in MediaList. It is one of the most powerful traffic systems available in the market, thanks to features that allow an intuitive mid-long term scheduling for the contents, the management of the rights of each program and the possibility to use the low-res copy of the assets, automatically generated by MediaStoreProxy, to see the preview, to cut and mark the clips, and also to check the graphics projects. MediaList manages GPI and GPO signals and in general all the secondary events like channel brandings and graphics projects for unlimited channels at the same time, which can be added to different levels (single clip, program container or category). MediaAccount (for billing and pre-billing management) is a tool to generate manual and automatic invoices, to manage the agents commissions, to elaborate and print analysis and statistics reports, or to export the data coming from advertising contracts to 3rd party accounting software through MediaLinker application module. Directly from each contract, MediaAccount loads data like: customer, unit prize, payments, agents. All these economic data can be filtered and used to automatically generate the invoices, to analyze costs and revenues of each campaign or to calculate agent commissions. RIght Management Daily Playlist The SI Media s traffic solution has been developed to enable the creation and management of multi-channel daily playlist and advertising playlist. It is possible to plan and schedule both clips and live events coming from any source and set logos, graphics projects, A/V router switching commands and all the secondary events related to the broadcasting automation. SI Media gives also the possibility to create the advertising playlist and automatically import it in the daily playlist in an extremely user-friendly interface, that also allows to see the low-res preview of each content in order to mark, cut or check the graphics projects. There are many other tools to manage for example the rights of the programs, to generate reports, analysis and prebilling prints from advertising contracts, to view and print out the As-Run-Log playlist for legal compliance purposes, to set an automatic check of all the errors that are present in a playlist (duration, free space, deleted clips and so on). MediaSpot (advertising playlist creation and management) manages the creation of the advertising playlist for unlimited channels, which can be imported and merged in MediaList or exported to any 3rd party traffic solution. It has been developed to schedule advertising campaigns and to manage advertising contracts. It allows a mid-long term scheduling of each planned content, with the possibility to insert all contract data, to customize a price list, to calculate the costs and revenues related to agents and their commissions. It is also possible to link to each advertising break a different jingle or a particular logo and/or graphic project. All the data coming from MediaSpot can be used to generate prints and reports, and for billing purposes. MediaReport (for prints, analysis and reports) is the list of all reports, prints and analysis that can be generated in MediaList. First of all an automatic report of the contents that went on air is always available thanks to the as-run log playlist. Then an exhaustive list of prints related to advertising contracts, customer s break times and number of passages showed for each content and many others, can be used to generate reports and analysis for prebilling purposes, for financial long time evaluations, for advertising campaign reports or free slots analysis. Unit prices, contracts data, agents and all the other fields can be used as filters for analysis and reports

11 RunDown MOS Gateway Studio (PCR) Play out MediaNews (creation and management of rundowns): manages the creation of stories and rundowns in a deeply integrated environment where, thanks to the user s rights management, the editor in chief has always the possibility to overview the flow of each press report and coordinate the work of all the operators (journalists, editors, ENG operators, archivists, anchormen). The interface is extremely userfriendly and allows the creation of a story in a single page with SI Media s own free text editor compatible with all languages, a direct access to s archive, the possibility to link and see the preview of graphics projects thanks to Proxy, to create basket composed by audio and video assets and\or bookmarks and export them to NLE systems. In MediaNews it is also possible to set an automatic import of wires coming from any configured news agency allowing journalists to have all the latest news available at any time with also a search engine to filter the wires. A full management of the storylife of rundowns is available, also with possibility to calculate the remuneration of each operator in order to have detailed reports and prints about the cost of each rundown. MediaCG (Logo, Graphic and Character Generator): manages the creation of animations, crawls, logos, DVE (i.e., picture-in-picture) and other graphic objects. It is fully integrated in the system allowing the possibility to check the preview of the projects from Traffic, NRCS, Automation and Contribution play out. MediaCG allows the creation of elaborated graphics with more than one ticker: so it can be used for showing news texts, stock exchange indexes, sports results, SMS, Facebook and Twitter contents combined with the TV Logo, the clock and other information. It guarantees a total On-Air CG Control and a powerful graphics engine that fully supports 3D and HD projects, integration with dynamic data sources, DVE (picture-in-picture), with the possibility to manage groups of objects in the same project, with a user-friendly timeline management interface. Wires Graphics SI Media has developed a complete platform composed by several modules for NRCS (News Room Computer System), with an application to create and manage stories and rundowns, a play out software for Studio/Program Control Room and a fully integrated CG s solution. All these features create a deeply interconnected environment, thanks to the complete integration of SI Media s NRCS applications with workflow manager. The solution supports MOS protocol with all levels implemented, giving extreme flexibility to integrate our applications with 3rd party teleprompters, CG s, Playout Contribution and other devices or software. This allows to configure a comprehensive workflow with all the tools required to have a competitive digital NRCS: wires acquisition, proxy-editing, stories and rundowns management, graphics, play out contribution, VOD and much more. MediaNewsPlay (News play out Contribution in Studio\Program Control Room): manages the delivery of contents in Studio\PCR. The software can operate managing the rundowns coming from MediaNews, or as a stand-alone application, that can communicate with 3rd party NRCS applications thanks to MOS Protocol. MediaNewsPlay provides a long list of tools to make last second changes to add for example directly contents from asset archive and to edit the clips on-the-fly and manages until four decoders at the time in order to give full flexibility to the operator to coordinate all the processes with SI Media s device controller. Also graphics projects can be edit directly from the application with the possibility to switch from an automatic to a manual control of them. MediaMOS (MOS gateway server): is the SI Media s MOS gateway server, in compliance with MOS protocol versions 2.8 and earlier. It implements levels from 1 to 7 of the MOS protocol (certificated by AP/ENPS), allowing the integration with applications of 3rd party NRCS, contribution playouts, graphic and character generators and teleprompters

12 Digital Logging editor to review the live signal incoming. It gives the possibility to remove the inappropriate audio, to blur out segments that can t be put on air, or cut not fit to air video and/or audio. After a certain delay (normally from 5 to 15 minutes, depends on customer s requirements), the edited event is played out live on air. Cut video time will be automatically offset with fillers and a list of promos available when needed, in order to catch up the timeline. MediaCensor can also integrate a scheduled regional AD-Insertion to manage the switch from the advertising breaks on the incoming live program to the regional advertising. 24/7 Automation Play out VOD & Live Streaming CensorShip Logo & CG MediaPlay (playout automation): is the SI Media application for Playout Automation in MCR. MediaPlay is able to play different types of programs: Files (in many different formats), live sources (satellite, studio cameras and other sources) and other like VTRs, Video Servers, etc. It also can control, using MediaDevice, several types of devices like: audio/video routers, master control switchers, graphics and character generators, logo generators, GPI and GPO, aspect ratio converters and many others. MediaPlay allows to do last second changes in the playlist during the on-air session: skip to the next event, insert and delete programs on-the-fly, edit the clips (cut-cut), change the playlist order and change or add graphics. All the commands are executable by shortcuts, the grid and the countdowns are fully customizable, and the Bumper (filler) insertion is automatic and configurable from MediaList MediaStream (VOD and Live Streaming): manages the streaming of a signal coming from MediaPlay. It is able to encode and automatically stream live on a web-site or an FTP server in several formats (WMV, WM9, AdobeFlash, Mpeg4, H264). It can work both as a 24/7 streaming channel and by request planned from traffic system or NRCS (the operator select which contents have to be streamed for VOD). Device Controller SI Media is the leading company in Italy for automation solutions, and in the last few years, other than successfully export the playout automation software abroad, has expanded the range of products with device controller, digital logging, streaming, video on demand and the new censorship module. SI Media s automation can work indifferently in IT environments, server branded solutions or mixed platforms. The automation system is fully integrated with the other parts of the system (, Traffic, CG) in order to optimize transfers and copies, and in general the time necessary to execute the requests coming from the automation. The backup (available in 1:1, 1:N and M:N mode) guarantees the continuity 24/7 in any case of failure. SI Media provides also features to monitor the status of each application and to immediately communicate any issue by sms or to the operator. MediaCensor (live censorship module): manages an incoming signal while it is being ingesting and the playout keeps going on air, allowing the MediaLogger (digital logging): manages the logging of trasmitted signals usually for legal purposes (to have a storage of what went on-air) but also to use the recorded material to export to a FTP server or for other purposes that require a certain format. System is defined to capture an audio/video signal (analog or SDI) 24 X 7 and can be scheduled by date and time, codec, bit rate of encoding and archiving duration (depending on assigned storage).other features are water mark for time, date and graphics and the possibility to search and browse in the recorded video. Both the SD and HD formats are supported
