3 2 Categorized SonarWiz Enhancements 2017 Q4 Highlights Summary Table (blue items have companion graphics) Here are the highlights of SonarWiz enhancements for 2017 Q4 (Oct, Nov, December). Section - Functional Category 2.1 SonarWiz 7 General Enhancements Production-version SonarWiz releases were released during Q3 Any new SonarWiz customer, or existing customer with a current EMA on their license key as of 7/1/2017, can run SonarWiz 7. Highlight Description 1. The SonarWiz7 integrated CTI3DViewer has a great new reporting option - the ability to capture 3D-action video or your manually-controlled scene actions. You can now share an active-graphic presentation of your 3DViewer results, with anyone who can read a WMV-format file (reads with the free Windows Media Viewer) 2. Contact editing just got faster! New hot-keys support allows you to step through the process to next-contact with less key-strokes. Click the link below, for more information: Introducing SonarWiz 7! 2.2 Sidescan Enhancements 1. S7K multi-beam file backscatter data can now be imported as sidescan, which enables data viewing for anyone with just a sidescan post-processing license. 2. Under operator control, a turbo mode SS digital filtering option is now available, which can speed up certain combinations of signal processing by a factor of x2.5. Solo EGN process has been boosted for faster processing, and multi-threading CSF-file processing has been added, which can add up to a x5 speed increase. 2.3 Bathymetry Enhancements 1. LiDAR post-processing support is the newest bathymetry feature in SonarWiz, with full initial support for the Velodyne VLP16 sensor system. 2. We've added the ability to split out multi-frequency R2Sonic files to post-process the LF/HF channels separately, much like our separate LF/HF data-processing option for SS files. 4 2.4 Sub-bottom Enhancements 1. Seabeam special-feature SEG files are now fully supported for post-processing in SonarWiz 2.5 Magnetometry Enhancements 2.6 Real-time Data-acquisition Enhancements 1. Magnetometry CSV export of CMG and other data have been added as custom features requested by users. 2. Magnetometry internal computation of CMG and SPEED is now done, even if the mag import template had not provided these data. 1. Our most innovative new real-time feature for LiDAR surveys, initially supports recording data from the Velodyne VLP16 sensor system. It can be recorded concurrently with MBES data by SonarWiz, using the MBES server option. NOTE: Highlights items described above, are presented below in bold. Q Page 4

5 2.1 SonarWiz 7 - General Enhancements SonarWiz 7 integrated 3DViewer video-capture is now supported for any 3D scene you have imported / created in the integrated 3D Viewer. Just create a 3D scene, for example by exporting your SonarWiz map-view GRID to the 3DViewer. Select to see the scene controls, then click on RECORD VIDEO: Then in the next dialog, choose a folder like 3DView in your project, and enter a filename to save the video - it will be WMV type: Q support@chesapeaketech.com Page 5

6 Then your scene video record starts and you can use the mouse/cursor to zoom, pan, roll to actively demonstrate the scene. To stop the recording, select to display the scene controls once again, and click STOP RECORDING: Q Page 6

9 2.2 Sidescan-specific Enhancements Single-head, conventional mount (no rotation) S7K records can now be imported as sidescan CSF files. This is a boon to users with a sidescan post-processing license, but no bathymetry post-processing license. Ordinarily backscatter imports as part of a bathymetry sonar import, and displays much like sidescan, with a few of the same digital filter options: Sometimes though, you will actually get a better view of the same data set, importing it with the new capability to present the backscatter data as sidescan: Q support@chesapeaketech.com Page 9

10 Next time you have recorded some single-headed MBES-sensor data in S7K format, give this a try! 2.3 Bathymetry-specific Enhancements The newest post-processing feature for SonarWiz is the LiDAR import option, supporting a number of import file formats, and able to be displayed and exported like all other bathymetry data sets. All you need is the bathymetry post-processing feature set to import LiDAR at this time: Q support@chesapeaketech.com Page 10

11 The data may be filtered / edited using all of the bathymetry editors, and of course viewed in 2D or 3D. LiDAR has an advantage for viewing structural 3D since it can be pointed in any direction with a fixed-mount, not just directed at the seafloor like many MBES systems. Our current support is for data from the and 32-bit "PUCK" LiDAR model from the same company. 2.4 Real-time Data-acquisition Enhancements Our newest real-time feature is the ability to record Velodyne VLP16 and VLP32 LiDAR data, capturing it to an XTF file, which can be imported into SonarWiz, as a "LASER Scanner" file: Q support@chesapeaketech.com Page 11
