1 Online Plan Room Viewer View Mode Quick Start Supplement Version 10.7

2 Introduction 1 This guide is intended to cover the basic tools available for viewing and estimating project documents using On-Screen Takeoff s View Mode plan viewer. For help with the Full Mode plan view, please refer to the Full Mode On-Screen Takeoff Guide. Downloading and Installing To download and install On Screen Take Off, click on the Install Software link located in the Online Planroom and select your operating system then click the link to Download On-Screen Takeoff Plan Viewer. At the On-Screen Takeoff Download page, follow the 7 steps for download and installation of OST on that page.

3 2 A dialog box will appear asking if you would like to Open or Save the On-Screen Takeoff Setup file, click on Save and save the file to your desktop. Upon selecting Save, a box will appear displaying the download progress. Note: The file that you are downloading is approximately 65 MB and may take some time to download. Please be patient! When the file download is complete, a Setup file icon will appear on your desktop. To install the program, open the Setup file.

4 3 Upon opening the Setup file, the InstallShield Wizard will appear and guide you through the installation of On-Screen Takeoff. When the installation is complete, the On-Screen Takeoff icon will appear on your computer desktop. You are now ready to begin using the On-Screen Takeoff Plan Viewer. Viewing Documents Upon opening On-Screen Takeoff, a list of documents will be shown in the pages tab on the lower left. The listed folders contain files or project documents. To expand the folders to list the documents, click on the + located on the left of the folder name.

5 4 Note: The Conditions, Takeoff and Worksheet Tabs are disabled and used only for the Full Mode Plan Viewer. To view a document, double-click on the name of the page that you would like displayed. Main Toolbar While a document page is displayed, a number of functions on the tool bar are made available. We will now review these numbered tools below and their function.

6 5 View Tools The Select Tool interacts with all menus, toolbars and dialogues and selects On-Screen Takeoff objects. Additionally, clicking on the select tool will disable any previously selected tool. The Zoom Tool does just that; it zooms in and out from the page when left-clicking and right clicking, respectively. You may hold down the appropriate mouse button and drag to zoom to an outlined area. The Pan Tool manipulates the page in the takeoff area. Hold down the left mouse button and drag to pan the page left, right, up, or down. Magnify acts to magnify the immediate area, without changing the zoom percentage of the page view. Hold down the left mouse button to activate. Dimension shows length between walls; just click and drag from one wall to another (a dimension line will snap between them). Text allows the user to write notes right on the drawing or plan takeoff. The Highlight tool block-highlights any area of the page in image view. The Hot Link tool is disabled while working in View Mode. Zoom Tools Zoom Full Page will bring the page back to full view (fit page to window). Zoom In will incrementally zoom in on the page. Zoom Out will incrementally zoom out on the page. Zoom 100% will display the page at 100% zoom. Quick Takeoff Tools The Quick Takeoff Toolbar is located at the top right of the image view. It has three buttons designated for three types of takeoffs: Linear, Area and Count. The Quantity drop down list will

7 show secondary quantities for Linear and Areas. The Units drop down allows you to select how you want your quantities displayed: Feet, Inches, Yards, Millimeters and Meters. 6 The Scale tool will set the scale for the page currently being displayed. To change the scale, click on the arrow to the right of the current scale and select the appropriate scale factor for the page. Note: Be sure to set the page scale and units before using the measuring tools described below. Line will take a linear measurement on the project drawing. Left click and hold on the beginning point of the item to be measured and pull and release at the end point. The measurement will be displayed in the toolbar. Area will take an area measurement on the project drawing. Left click on the begging point of the item to be measured, move to the next point and left click and repeat until the box is complete. Double click to end the measurement. Once complete, the area measured will be filled in with a grid. The measurement will be displayed in the toolbar. Count will count items on the page by left clicking once per item. The total number of items will be displayed in the toolbar. Note: Every time you takeoff a new quantity, the previous quantities and takeoff objects will disappear. They will also disappear when you change pages. Image Toolbar The image toolbar will allow the user to further enhance the view of the project documents. When selected Darken Plans will darken the plans and, when not selected lightens the plans. Notice; when you choose to darken the plans it will darken every page. When Enhance Plans is selected the plans have more of a crisp look. Notice; when you choose to enhance the plans it will enhance every page. When depressed All Pages will identify with the choice of the tools below. Rotate Image Left allows the entire image to rotate to the left. Rotate Image Right allows the entire image to rotate to the right.

8 7 Flip Image Horizontal allows the entire image to flip horizontally. Flip Image Vertical allows the entire image to flip Vertically.
