2 1 Abstract This document contains information on news and changes that are introduced with the current version of the software. Additionally it gives an overview of the tested and supported functional range of the various software versions. 2 Validity This document applies to the software SMAVIA Viewing Client. It has been created on the basis of the software version Compatibility The software SMAVIA Viewing Client is compatible with the following hardware and software after the update to the current version: DMS 2400 as of version DLS 1600 as of version IPS 2400 as of version VideoNetBox II as of version DVS 1600 II as of version DVS 1600 II IPS as of version SMAVIA Recording Server (Windows) as of version Operating System Microsoft Windows 1) 7/8 32 Bit Microsoft Windows 7/8 64 Bit 4 Notes Note that this update is free of charge. the innovations are only generally described in this document. the use of some functions may require a license subject to charges. the Dallmeier support hotline is always available for further questions. 5 Procedure The update is available on the corresponding product page at SMAVIA Viewing Client is offered as a full version only. An older version can be updated by installation into the existing program folder. Note that the ProgramData.bin configuration file is not overwritten during the installation. This file must be deleted prior to installation if you want to use the default settings of the new version. 6 Auto-Update SMAVIA Viewing Client has an auto-update feature that can be enabled / disabled via Configuration > Login > Check for updates. If a connection to the Internet can be established, the function periodically checks whether an update is available. 3 7 Innovations Panomera S7/8 Integration The current version of the SMAVIA Viewing Client software has been optimized for live display and playback of Panomera Multifocal Sensor Systems with 7 or 8 sensors. After the definition of the corresponding recording system (SMAVIA Recording Server as of version 8.x.6). the live display or playback can be activated in a split as usual. Note and use the beneficial features such as individual split-definition or corridor mode. If multiple clients are to access a Panomera Multifocal Sensor System simultaneously, the connection can be realized via multicast. SMAVIA Recording Server as of version 8.x.6 Workstation according to the Best Practice system requirements Panomera Streamer The current version of the SMAVIA Viewing Client software has been optimized for the use of a Panomera Streaming Server. A Panomera Streaming Server provides a single Full HD stream which summarizes the various Sub-Channels (streams) of a Panomera multifocal sensor system. The current version of the SMAVIA Recording Server software now supports lossless zooming in the stream provided by the Panomera Streaming Server. As a digital PTZ function, the zoomed area can be placed anywhere. With SMAVIA Recording Server as a proxy these functions can now be used by SMAVIA Viewing Client via network. The digital PTZ function for the stream of a Panomera Steaming Server is available in the Live mode and in the Playback mode as well. Panomera Grid SMAVIA Viewing Client now allows for the display of a grid as an indicator for the layout of the Panomera master and slave modules. The grid can be activated and deactivated with the F1 and F2 keys during the display of a Panomera multifocal sensor system. 3

4 Panomera Demonstration In order to demonstrate the advantages of a Panomera multifocal sensor system (consistent depth of field and high resolution across the entire object space) it is now possible to change between the views Overview Only and Multifocal View. The view can be switched with the F3 and F4 keys during the display of a Panomera multifocal sensor system. Use the Zoom function for the demonstration of the different resolution qualities. Panomera Backup The current version of the SMAVIA Viewing Client software has been extended for the creation and playback of the backups of Panomera multifocal sensor systems. The creation of a backup can be defined and started in the same way as for a conventional camera during the playback of a Panomera multifocal sensor system. The streams of the master and slave modules are summarized automatically in the backup. The selection of individual streams is not required. The playback of the backup is automated as well. Panomera Connection Monitor The function Connection Monitor has been extended for the display of Panomera multifocal sensor systems in the current version. The connection monitor displays the quality of the network connection of a split (stream) by different colors (green = very good, orange = good, red = poor). 4

5 Zoom Function The zoom function is particularly convenient: Just use the mouse wheel to zoom into the image. At the same time, a small additional window opens in which you can see the overview image and the selected section at any time. This additional window can now be scaled and moved with drag-and-drop. Support of new Camera Series The current version of SMAVIA Viewing Client has been extended for the support of the camera series DF5200HD, DF5300HD and DF5400HD. System Information The About dialog has been enhanced for the current version. It now allows the storage of system information (CPU, RAM, GPU and graphics card) as a TXT file. The stored system information can be helpful, especially in the case of a support request. Live Display and Delay Smavia Viewing Client allows the setting of a delay for the live display in order to ensure smooth playback in case of network load peaks (previously default delay = 200 ms). As of the current version, a new function analyzes the video stream and adjusts the delay optimally (new default delay = automatic). However, a manual adjustment of the delay is still possible. For fast control of PTZ cameras live display is recommended without any delay (delay = 0 ms). 5

6 Function UDP Live Smavia Viewing Client allows the transmission of the video stream over the network protocol UDP (User Datagram Protocol). The extended options for UDP Live now enable the decoding and display of corrupt video streams. Corrupt video streams may contain incomplete frames (images), frames without beginning and frames with damaged packages. GOP Size > 30 The current version of SMAVIA Viewing Client has been optimized for the support of 3rd party IP cameras sending a video stream with a GOP size >
