4 1 General This document describes the mini IP camera connection options for obtaining live stream video. First, connect your mini IP camera to your PC via Eth port and power it on. 2 Direct stream using a VLC media player The first option is to obtain a video stream directly via VLC media player. To do so, please follow these steps: 1. Download VLC media player from: 2. Install the VLC media player you have downloaded. 3. Open the VLC media player. In the upper left corner, go to Media, then choose Open Network Stream : Figure 1: Network stream opening Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+N buttons. 4. Under the Please enter a network URL: line, enter the current line: RTSP:// :554/user=admin&password=&channel=1&stream=0.sdp? and press the Play button. Confidential Page : 4 / 8

Note that the VLC media player adds a delay / latency of between 500msec 1sec (as shown on Figure 3). If you wish to reduce this latency, you can reduce the VLC caching buffer size. To do so, right click on Show more options. The default caching buffer size is 1000msec (equivalent to 1sec). You can reduce it, but keep in mind that this could lead to a video stream capture fail (depending on your PC hardware). 6 3. Streaming using ispy free DVR software Another option for streaming is to use ispy software. If you choose this option, follow the steps below: 1. Download the ispy software from: Download the file according your operating system word length (x86 for 32bit and x64 for 64bit). If you are unsure about the word length of your operating system, please do the following: 1. Left click on the Start button. 2. According to your operating system (presuming Windows operating system), go to the Run or Search programs and files line. Type dxdiag and press Enter. You should see the following pop-up window: Figure 4: Operating system word length 2. Install the ispy software. 3. After the installation is complete, open the software. In the left upper corner, click on the Add button and select IP Camera : Confidential Page : 6 / 8

7 Figure 5: Adding mini IP camera in ispy software 4. Go to VLC plugin, and in the VLC URL line enter the following: RTSP:// :554/user=admin&password=&channel=1&stream=0.sdp? In Arguments line add: --rtsp-caching=100 --network-caching=200 Figure 6: Video stream creation using ispy software with VLC plugin option 5. Press OK. You should see live video streaming from the mini IP camera. 6. Also, you can connect your IP camera by selecting FFMPEG (H264), enter the RTSP:// :554/user=admin&password=&channel=1&stream=0.sdp? string on the URL line and select the RTSP mode.
