3 1. LIVE VIEWING FOR CAMERAS The cameras should be viewable in grid with live images. On the bottom/top of each grid, the corresponding name of the camera will be shown. (Please see the diagram 1a.) Diagram 1a : Snapshot of the grid window. To view a camera Double-click on the grid you would like to view. The camera you have chosen will come up in a full-screen mode. To choose another camera, please click the corresponding camera number on top-left hand corner of the screen. (the camera numbers as seen on the top-left corner of the screen, please see the diagram below) Diagram 1b: Snapshot of camera numbers. If you would like to view all cameras in a multimode on the monitor, please choose any one of the following methods, 3
4 STEP 1 You need to have administer privileages to be able to view cameras. Please see the diagram 11 below. Diagram 11: System requests for password. To input the password, please click on the admin icon and you will see the password field like this (Please see diagram 12). In order to enter your password, please click on the numeric buttons and hit the Enter key. Diagram 12: Enter Password. 5 STEP 2 To view cameras in quad, 9-channel,13-channel or 16-channel display, please click on the corresponding menus. 2. SEARCH FOR FOOTAGE When you are viewing live camera, please follow these steps to search for a footage STEP 1 Right-click using the mouse and you should see the Setup icon like this (please see the diagram below.) STEP 2 (Setup icon) Move the cursor on to the setup icon and click on it. This will display a submenu which looks like this (Please see the diagram below.) STEP 3 Move the cursor to the Search menu and click on it that will bring up a screen like the diagram 2a. To search for a particular footage click on the Time Search option. 5
6 Diagram 2a: Search setup window. STEP 4: Time based search DATE Time based search allows you to search for a footage with specific time and date. Also, the month and year can be changed to your requirements by clicking on the specified field. Example (Please see diagram 2c) If you want to change the year to 2009, click on the year and set it to If you want to change the month to 11, click on the month and set it to 11. Note that dates with recording data are marked with a red square Diagram 2c. Changing date. STEP 5 TIME 6
7 Once you have selected a date you will now be able to select the time period. You can change time (hour/minute/second) (Please see diagram 2d ).Once you have changed the time to your requirement then click Ok. Diagram 2d: Time Search window. BACK UP VIDEO FOOTAGE Note: If you choose to backup the footage to a USB stick, then plug in the USB stick first before proceeding with the following steps. However, if you wish to backup in a blank CD then you need to put in the blank CD first before proceeding with the following steps. When you are viewing live camera, please follow these steps to back up a footage. STEP 1 Right-click using the mouse and you should see the Setup icon like this (please see the diagram below.) 7
8 (Setup icon) Move the cursor on to the setup icon and click on it. This will display a submenu which looks like this (Please see the diagram below.) STEP 2 Move the cursor to the Backup menu and click on it. Choose Time frame. To backup a footage for a specific date and time period, you need to define the time period from start date (mm/yyyy) time (hh/mm/ss) to end date (mm/yyyy) time (hh/mm/ss). Example (Please see diagram 3a): Let s say, if we want to do backup for the time period From: 2009/11/11 15:00:00 To: 2009/1/11 15:03:20. Diagram 3a: Selecting time frame for the backup. You can click on the time stamp parallel to From to choose your start period for the back up. Once you have selected a date you will now be able to select the time period. (Please see the diagram 3a.1 below for assistance). 8
9 Diagram 3a.1: Input time and hit the Enter Key. Similarly, you can click on the time stamp parallel to To to choose your end period for the back up. STEP 3 Choose Device type. Depending on if you are using a USB Stick or a blank CD, this will show up in the drop down menu. Please see the diagram 3b. Diagram 3b: Selecting device type for the backup. DVR supports two methods of backup devices DVD RW and USB drive. Before choosing the DVD RW device, be sure that the DVD is writable. Click on the drop down menu list to select the method of backup and click on the refresh button to know how much storage is available on the USB or blank CD. Hit calculate button and DVR will calculate how much storage is needed to back up on a USB Stick or a blank CD for the date and time specified. If the required space is more than the free space, then you need to put in a CD/USB with a higher capacity to store the relevant footage. 9
10 STEP 4 Finish Once you have selected with the time period selection and device selection, hit Start button to start the back up process. There will be a progress bar appearing once the back up process is initiated. Once the process is complete, it will show up a message Backup Success! NOTE : Please click calculate button before starting to back up. Please do not unplug the USB device, or eject the DVD whilst the DVR is backing up. 4. VIEWING BACKUP FOOTAGE FROM A COMPUTER To view the footage that you saved, please insert the DVD or the USB in a computer. STEP 1 After you insert the DVD or the USB stick in a computer, you will be able to see the contents of the storage device like this. (Please see the diagram 4a below) Diagram 4a: Contents of the storage device. STEP 2 To view the footage, please install the software named ifileplayplack. (To install the software, please double-click on the file, see diagram 4b for assistance). Diagram 4b: Install software ifileplaypack. STEP 3 After successful installation, the following screen will come up. Please click Open to navigate to your USB or DVD drive s location and click on the file which has the file extension.irf. (Please see the diagram 4c & 4d.) 10
11 Diagram 4c: File Play, click open to navigate to your DVD or USB drive s location. Eg: F:\DVR-VIDEO. Diagram 4d : Please click on the file which has.irf extension and click Open. Eg: _14100.irf STEP 4 The software plays back the footage you have backed up. Please see the diagram 4e for assistance. 11
12 Diagram 4e. Viewing the backed up footage. You can select the menus on the left to view all cameras in multimode. 5. REMOTE VIEWING To remotely view your cameras, you can use Internet Explorer. The DVR supports Internet Explorer 6+. Please follow these steps. STEP 1 Open Internet Explorer Please click on the Internet explorer icon form your Desktop. STEP 2 Type the address In the URL portion of the window, please type in the IP address of the DVR that was given to you. Example : :90 After you enter the address, hit enter. When remote monitoring on IE for the first time, an alert message occurs Install ActiveX control on the tool bar Please do the following, 12
13 Please click Install to proceed STEP 3 Once you have installed the Active X. You will be asked to input username and password before you can view the cameras. Please type in the username and password given to you in the corresponding fields and hit Ok or Enter. STEP 4 If the username and password is correct, you should be able to view all the channels. (Please allow a few seconds for IE to display your cameras) 13
