1 ATAPS Suicide Support Line Guide for Allied Health Practitioners This short guide covers information about the service, what support we provide to clients, how to make referrals and how to access case notes from the ATAPS Client Database. What is the ATAPS Suicide Support Line? The national ATAPS (Access to Allied Psychological Services) Suicide Support Line is a free, specialised telephone service designed to support clients of the ATAPS Suicide Prevention Program when their allied health provider is not available. We provide support to clients at risk of suicide 24 hours a day to ensure your clients have access to professional support around the clock. We provide support for clients of this program by: 1. Providing crisis counselling to clients around the clock 2. Making initial contact and providing interim support if they are referred to the ATAPS Suicide Prevention Program over the weekend or on public holidays 3. Making contact with any clients you may be concerned about out of hours How do I make a referral to the ATAPS Suicide Support Line? Referrals to the ATAPS Suicide Support Line can be made by phone or . Phone: Referrals via phone can be made by calling the support line on Your call will be answered by a mental health professional who will record your details and your client s details to complete the referral process. 2 ATAPS Suicide Support Line Call Referral Form This form can be completed and ed to: Allied Health Practitioner details Allied health practitioner name Allied health practitioner phone number Medicare Local Client name Client phone number Client age or age range Client postcode Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander / Both Client details Would you like an outgoing call to be made to your client? (Yes/No) Date first call to be made Frequency of calls to be made e.g. once off, weekly or over the weekend Date last call to be made Call time window e.g pm-3.00pm Referral notes (Brief summary of client) Outgoing call details 2
3 Accessing the ATAPS Client Database (Case notes) To ensure continuity of care, you will have access to On the Line s case notes relating to your client s contact with the ATAPS Suicide Support Line, provided the client has given consent to share the information. When On the Line has had contact with your client, an automatically generated will be sent to you advising you to log in and review the case notes. Login details: Once you have been registered to the ATAPS Client Database, you will be sent your login details. Login details will include a username, password and a link to the icase website. You will be prompted to change your password when you log in for the first time. How do I use the ATAPS Client Database? ATAPS Site: When you navigate to the ATAPS website for the first time, it will prompt you to enter in your Username and Password. Enter in your details accordingly and click Login. 3
4 Once you log in, the following page will appear, listing your clients. To view case notes for a client, click on the View call records button under Actions (circled in red below). Wording in this diagram has been used as an example only Clicking View call records will then take you to the following call record screen. When one of our mental health professionals makes contact with your client, they will complete the following call record. Case notes, time and duration of the call, and a risk assessment are all recorded. Details in this diagram have been used as an example only. 4
5 The initial client record landing screen will only show the most recent call(s). If there are more calls to view, a plus sign symbol will appear at the bottom of your screen. Click this button to expand to hidden call records. To return to the main screen, click ATAPS, located at the top left hand corner of the screen.
