1 May 24, 2017 FAQ s What is icruisepro and how does it differ from other available options? icruisepro is a stand alone timber tally, workup and stand and stock table report generating app that runs on the Apple ipad, iphone. All functions are performed directly in the field and finished reports can be ed before the forester leaves the woods (if they have cell service on their devices). Can an icruisepro representative demonstrate the program to our company? We can demonstrate the program with enough advance notice and the potential for multiple licenses. Is a demo version available for testing? We do have a demo version we can send out. It is a full version of the program that will stop working after a set number of days. Will this program run on other phone/tablet devices besides ipad or iphone? At this time, the database engine FileMaker Pro/Go only runs on Apple mobile devices along with Windows and Mac computers. FileMaker does NOT currently support Android devices. Is training available? Depending on the location, we can offer training for individual copies at a nominal cost and can offer free training for >5 copies. What tables are used to workup the data? Merchantable sawtimber volumes are calculated in board feet using Doyle Log Rule from Tables for Estimating Board-Foot Volume of Timber by Clement Mesavage and J. W. Girard, U.S. Forest Service. These tables have been proven to be very accurate in calculating volumes. Cord and cubic volumes for sawtimber, chip & saw and topwood were calculated using Tables for Estimating Cubic-Foot Volume of Timber by Clement Mesavage, U.S. Forest Service. Page 1 of 5

Can our company s proprietary volume tables be installed into the program? We can program a user volume table into the app for an additional fee or if more than 5 copies are being ordered, we can input the user tables at no cost. Does the program provide protection from losing data? icruisepro strongly suggests you backup your data during and after each cruise. You can your data out to whomever you choose at any time. You can do this several times a day if needed. You can currently only send out one job backup at a time so at the very least - as the job is completed - make sure to back it up and it out. Are there other options for backing up data in the field besides ? Recently there have been some external devices created that can be used to backup data on the iphone or ipad in the field. One such device is the SanDisk ixpand Flash Drive. It plugs into the Lightning connector on your device and can be used as an external hard drive. Once backed up, the data files can be easily transferred to a computer via the ixpand USB connection. Are there error checks built into icruisepro? icruisepro will flag entries that are outside of the Job Parameters that were created when first setting up the job. It will also flag questionable entries for you to evaluate. How many plots can be taken on a single job? The only limitation on number of plots is the available space on your device. If you take lots of photos on a cruise the data file will be larger. The data files are normally small (less than 10 mb) for each job so essentially you can have thousands of plots for any given job. As the number of plots increase, so does the time to calculate results but the newer iphone/ipad devices are very quick at these calculations. Can I delete erroneous plot data? You can delete a tree if later you decide the tree was not supposed to be tallied and you can also delete a plot if you find out later it was off the property or should not have been taken. Is there a duplicate tree option when entering tree data? We have a number of trees field in the data input screen so you do not have to enter all the tree data again if you have multiple trees of the same species, product, diameter and height on the same plot. You can also scroll back up to a previous tree on the same plot and change the number of trees. Page 2 of 5

3 Can I tally and workup multiple stands in one job? You can tally multiple stands in one job and by using the Stand Level Data form in the Job Parameters, you can have the plots taken in a specific stand worked up on the correct number of acres for that stand. Currently we only create one summary printout for each job. If you want individual printouts for each stand, you will need to create a separate job for each one. The newest version of icruisepro allows the user to separate plots into a new job. Can I rework up a job in different volume units? You can take any job you have tallied, bring that job back into icruisepro and reworkup the data in any of the available volume units and printout new reports. Just be sure to backup the current job you have entered tally data in prior to bringing in an older job to reworkup. Can I change species names? You can change species names as long as the first 10 species are left for pine. Can the reports be ed from the iphone/ipad? Yes. Once you have worked up the job, then just click on the Completed Tables button and choose the table you want to . That table will show up on the screen of the device. Tap anywhere in the middle of the screen and you will see a blue outline box with an arrow pointing up in the upper right hand side of the screen. Tap that Blue box with arrow and you can choose to or text message the report you had selected. Currently, you will need to each report separately. Can I export raw tally data? Raw tally data can be exported to an Excel file for easy auditing of plots if necessary. This Excel formatted file is created in the same location as the icruisepro files. It can then be ed to whomever you want. Is bulk pricing available? Multiple copy discounts are available: 2-5 copies are $1,150.00/license 6-10 copies are $995.00/license >10 copies are $925.00/license What is the typical cost of a complete setup for one device. If you already have an iphone or ipad, we would recommend putting the device in a waterproof, drop proof case like the LifeProof cases. These cost anywhere from about $70.00 to $ If you will be using an ipad or ipad mini, we strongly recommend the magnetic cover by LifeProof in addition to the waterproof case. This cover will automatically turn off the ipad when it is closed and then turn it on when it is opened so you do not have to click the ON/OFF Page 3 of 5

4 button. It costs another $ $40.00, but it well worth the extra investment. It also helps keep scratches off of the screen. If you don t have a device already you should go to the Apple website and look at all of your options. Costs will range from around $ to $ depending on the model, memory and screen size and whether the device can use cell phone service/gps or just uses wifi only. Total costs for complete system will range from ±$1,730 to $2,265. If you want to run icruisepro on a computer, you will need to purchase an additional FileMaker Pro license from FileMaker Inc. That license costs about $ Does my purchase include a support period? What about beyond the support period? Your license will include 90 days of free support by telephone or . Do I need a device with cell service or can I get by with wifi only? icruisepro does NOT require cell service to operate you will however need it if you plan on collecting GPS coordinates at each plot and to be able to files out from the field. You can use a Bluetooth GPS to collect the latitude/longitude but will still not be able to send out backup files by without cell service until you get into a wifi area. Does icruisepro automatically record the GPS coordinates of each plot location? We do NOT capture GPS coordinates automatically. You will need to click the Get GPS button to collect those coordinates. Many of our users do not need GPS coordinates for their plot data, so we make that optional on each plot. Can the reports be worked up in MBF and Cords? Yes you can use any volume units listed on the Job Parameters page. What is the stocking level based on? The criteria for classifying a pine stand and determining its stocking level were those defined and employed by the U. S. Forest Service in Mississippi Forests, USDA Resource Bulletin SO-67, Southern Forest Experiment Station, The stand class definitions are as follows: Sawtimber stands. Stands at least 16.7% stocked with half or more of this stocking in sawtimber or poletimber trees, and with sawtimber stocking at least equal to poletimber stocking. Pulpwood _ stands. Stands at least 16.7% stocked with growing-stock trees, with half or more of this stocking in sawtimber or poletimber trees, and with poletimber stocking exceeding that of sawtimber stocking. 5 with more than half of this stocking in sapling and seedlings. Nonstocked. Commercial forest lands less than 16.7% stocked with growing-stock trees.
