How to set up Restrictions on the ipad

1 1) Tap on the Settings icon. How to set up Restrictions on the ipad ***You must have an itunes account*** 2) Tap on icloud-you will sign into icloud with your itunes account information. 3) Once you are logged into icloud, you will see this screen. Tap OK This allows Find My ipad to use the location. 4) Toggle the switch to Find My ipad to On.

2 5) You will want to Turn Off the Mail, Contacts, and Calendar options. Otherwise you may end up with duplicates. You can always go back and turn them back on if you choose. Each time you turn one off, the blue box will appear asking if you want to keep, delete or cancel. You want to delete. 6) Next, tap on General and locate Restrictions about midway down the list.

3 7) Tap on Restrictions, you will notice that the items are grayed out. 8) Tap on Enable Restrictions. You will be prompted to enter a 4-digit code twice. Pick something you can remember.

4 9) Scroll down a bit and you will see Privacy. Tap on Location Services.

5 10) Next, tap on Don t Allow Changes. This prevents a person from being able to turn off the location services which is what Find my ipad uses to locate the ipad. 11) Tap the gray Restrictions arrow which will bring you back to the main Restrictions page.

6 12) Tap on Accounts under Allow Changes. And do the same thing you did in step 10. If you want to add another account, you will need to go back in to restrictions and Allow changes in Accounts. When you are done adding go back and Not Allow Changes. Not allowing changes to Location and Accounts prevents a person from both turning off your location finder and deleting your icloud account which is the host to the Find my ipad. You ll also notice many other options that you can restrict; music, TV, movie and app ratings. If you are using these in the classroom, you might want to think about choosing some of these ratings restrictions.

7 To Locate a Missing ipad Option 1- Find My iphone App 1) Download the free app Find My iphone from the App store. 2) After you download it to your ipad, locate it on your screen tap the app and you will be brought to this screen. Log in with your itunes account info or whatever itunes account the ipad is associated with.

8 3) You will come to a screen that will show you where your device is. If you have more than one device on your itunes account, you can tap on Devices and a list with all of your devices will appear. If your ipad turns up missing, you may access this App from your iphone (if you have one) or another person s ipad. You will need to use the itunes account log- in information that the missing ipad is associated with. Option 2- Sign into icloud on a desk top computer. 1) On your computer go to 2) Sign in with your Apple ID and Password

9 3) Click on Find My iphone 4) As long as the ipad is on and on a Wi-Fi network, your ipad will show up on the map. Important things to remember If you do not set up the Find My ipad within icloud and the ipad goes missing you will not be able to locate it. Remember to set up the Do Not Allow Changes to both location and accounts. Please, do not set up a 4-digit screen lock code if you do and the ipad is taken, the person who takes it will be unable to access Wi-Fi which means, you will not be able to locate the ipad. And finally, these are not fool proof measures and there are ways around them. It is our hope that these safeguards will buy you some extra time to locate a missing ipad.
