Domino 7.0 Highlights Dramatic performance gains Major Administration improvements Notes Client improvements Many valuable functional enhancements Expanded Platform Support
Domino 7.0 Performance
Performance Testing The following information reflects measurements performed on pre-ga builds of Domino 7. Results in deployed environments will vary. Measurements conducted using Notesbench, with R6Mail and R6iNotes workloads Comparisons conducted with Domino 7 beta 2 (and later), versus Domino 6.5. Identical system configuration used for each test, including single Domino partition and with Transaction Logging disabled. Performance optimization work will continue until final Domino 7 test cycle
Domino 7.0 Performance Highlights Domino 7 NRPC scalability has increased by at least 50 % on all platforms Removed limit of 10,000 users per partition Domino 7 DWA scalability has increased by at least 20 % on all platforms Domino 7 DWA CPU has decreased by at least 20 % on most platforms We will continue improving D7 performance until we ship Domino 7 beta with Domino 6.5 on same system configuration with one Domino partition and R6 Notesbench mail workloads
Examples of Domino 7.0 Improvements Notes NRPC (R6Mail) AIX 5.2 Domino K users, Domino 7-15K users CPU/user cost remained same Linux SuSE SLES 8 D6.5-3K R6Mail users, D7-10K users Domino Web Access (DWA) (R6iNotes) Solaris 9 CPU/user cost decreased with Domino 7 Domino K users, Domino 7-6.5K users Windows 2003 (.Net) Domino K users, Domino 7-5.5K users CPU/user cost decreased with Domino 7

Domino Domain Monitoring Reduces TCO by providing a means to quickly monitor and determine the health of an entire domain at a single UI location and quickly resolve problems. How? Automate problem determination/analysis by feature Rollup, prioritize and resolve problems across servers Hide details until you need them. Make DDM checks and reporting configurable and flexible Pave the way for further autonomic initiatives
Policy Based Management Apply settings to multiple users based on the structure of the organization based on explicit, non-organizational assignments In 6.5 Notes Client desktop/setup: security, registration, archiving In 7.0 Client Policy Lock-Down for all settings Mail and calendar settings Benefits: Reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)!
Smart Upgrade Improvements in 7.0 Notify administrators of Smart Upgrade tracking Governor - Limit the number of Smart Upgrades per hour Smart Upgrade server cluster failover to another server Smart Upgrade failover from shared drive path kit to Attachment kit. Smart Upgrade fields added to the desktop policy settings document. Smart Upgrade tracking reports
