Offline access Get the same experience offline as the one you get when you are online Take the entire place offline, not just content libraries Take advantage of Lotus Domino services Security features Replication 18
Agenda 1 Functional Overview 2 Architecture 3 Customization 19
Lotus Quickr Design Principles Focus is on the user experience independently of the infrastructure End-users should not have to worry about what is behind the scene Example: connectors, and integrated use of places/templates across platforms Openness and flexibility Goal is to integrate with diverse content repositories, and provide an aggregated view of the content and collaboration to end users Protect our customers investments Providing different deployment options demonstrates IBM s intent to leverage our customers investments and skills: Lotus Domino services (storing the content in an NSF-based repository), or J2EE services (storing the content in a relational Database) A combination of the Lotus Domino and J2EE services 20
Install Lotus Quickr 8.0 today?... No problem... Express Installation of the server in about an hour In either a Lotus Domino or a J2EE deployment setup Connectors are self-provisioned and install in about a minute 21
Create Places in three simple Steps Done the new place is ready for use 22
What Gets Installed with Lotus Quickr 8.0? It s all in the box... Including a scalable content repository Server installation J2EE Services IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment IBM WebSphere Portal Multi-Platform (subset) IBM DB2 Universal Database 9.1 Enterprise Server Edition or use an existing IBM DB2 database Lotus Quickr 8.0 application Lotus Domino Services Lotus Domino with fix pack 1 Lotus Quickr 8.0 application 23
Lotus Quickr Architecture Browsers User s View Feed Readers Connectors Quickr Components (Docs, Wiki, Blog ) Quickr Content Services (Domino, REST, SOAP) Quickr Components (Docs, Wiki, Blog ) Quickr Content Services (Java, REST, SOAP) WebSphere Portal Server (subset) Domino WebSphere Application Server Domino NTF NTF NTF NSF NSF NSF RDB J2EE 24

Supported Servers OS and Database Lotus Domino OS Microsoft Windows 2003 Standard Edition Server SP 1 Microsoft Windows 2003 Enterprise Server IBM System i (IBM i5/os V5R4) IBM System p (IBM AIX V5.3) Sun Solaris operating environment V10 Database NSF J2EE OS Microsoft Windows XP SP2 - as development platform only Microsoft Windows 2003 Standard and Enterprise SP1, Windows Server 2003 R2 Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES, AS, WS, Desktop for (x86) 4.0 U4 Database Microsoft Windows DB2 9.1 Linux (Red Hat) DB2 9.1 Note: Oracle support is currently planned for 1H 08 27
Using Lotus Quickr with WebSphere Portal Two complementary value propositions and usage scenarios: 1. WebSphere Portal is a framework for building web sites with simple and consistent end-user experiences. These Web sites... Are created by the site owners for use by the site s user community Have more users/readers, than authors Are relatively few in number, serving relatively large user communities 2. Lotus Quickr is a team collaboration solution enabling teams to easily share information and collaborate on projects. These places... Are self-provisioned with place owners deciding on layouts and content Have a higher ratio of users that actively contribute content to the place Are large in number (one for each project or team) Many customers will want to access Lotus Quickr through WebSphere Portal. Just like any other app... 28
Lotus Quickr and the WebSphere Portal technology Lotus Quickr on J2EE services relies on WebSphere Portal technology Lotus Quickr places are implemented as composite applications The embedded portal server is a subset of WebSphere Portal Multiplatform but does not include: Business process choreographer, Virtual portals Portlets can be deployed into Lotus Quickr places Lotus Quickr and its individual components (e.g. document library) are not deployable into an existing WebSphere Portal server Business components (such as those built with WebSphere Portlet Factory) can be deployed into Lotus Quickr places Many components (ex: blog, wiki..) are implemented using IBM Web Content Management (WCM) technology Provides for customization of these components using the WCM authoring 29
Integration with an existing portal infrastructure (1) Tighter integration is currently planned with upcoming product releases Example: My Places and ATOM feed consuming portlets Options available today to visually integrate a Lotus Quickr server (Domino or J2EE-based) and an existing WebSphere Portal server: 1. Use Lotus Quickr Web services to access the Lotus Quickr content from custom portlets on the WebSphere Portal server Use existing tools (IBM Rational Application Developer, WebSphere Portlet Factory, etc.) to create new custom portlets (ex: a portlet to display a list of documents from Lotus Quickr) 30
Integration with an existing portal infrastructure (2) 2. Use an iframe within WebSphere Portal to access Lotus Quickr components Simple and easy to set up 31
Agenda Functional Overview Architecture Customization 32
Extending Lotus Quickr Business Users little or no technical skills but lots of domain knowledge Technical Users some technical skills in languages like LotusScript, Visual Basic, Javascript, HTML and some domain knowledge Developers deep technical skills in Java, C++, C#,.net. usually little domain knowledge 33
Extending Lotus Quickr Business Users Build the right application or template by selecting just the components that you need e.g. An RFP place with tasks and doc library Define a new form with custom fields E.g. customer issues Define a document workflow e.g. A workflow for approving a document for publish to ibm.com... Define a taxonomy for categorizing documents Define a new document type using predefined property sheets and custom meta-data e.g. A press release with a Microsoft Word template Define a shared view based on document properties and categories 34
Place customization 1. Create a place, and select the components you need Drag and drop (Qsite) 2. Use the theme (colors, branding) you want 3. Pre-load with seed content 4. Save as a new template (PlaceType) 35
Extending Lotus Quickr Technical Users Create new agents e.g. A placebot to archive a place Use HTML forms Change the user experience e.g. modify or create a new theme and skin Connect the components e.g. Wire in a new portlet that provides a custom document view of a selected document Extend components using authoring from Web Content Management (WCM) e.g. An improved blog based on the out-of-box component Define new business components using WebSphere Portlet Factory e.g. A project status component for a Project Management place 36
Extending Lotus Quickr - Developers Add new actions E.g. Adding a scan action to the document menu Develop new connectors using Web Services and REST API s E.g. FTP connector Implement content services on new back-ends E.g. Content Services on IBM FileNet Implement resource managers on new back-ends E.g. Feeds provider personalization rules 37

Why should I use Lotus Quickr or upgrade from Lotus QuickPlace -... today? 1. A better Web user experience New user interface, contextual menus, drag and drop, etc. 2. Access from the applications you use everyday Quickr connectors for Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows Explorer, Lotus Sametime, Lotus Notes Access Lotus Quickr content using ATOM feeds 3. New or updated collaborative components Wikis, Team Blogs, tasks, presentations, pictures, surveys, meetings, etc. 4. Collaborative content management and team collaboration Leverage portal infrastructure to build collaborative role-based applications 5. And don t forget the administrators New role for management of nested places, place statistics for business owners, etc. In-place upgrade from Lotus QuickPlace 6.5 and
