2 LOGIN DIFFICULTIES- TIMED OUT I used the correct username/password combination, but it won t let me log in! There is an endless loop occurring between the MySOU portal, AIMS, and Internet Explorer. SOLUTION Two choices. Either will work just fine: 1. Use Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, or Safari (Mac) as your browser instead of Internet Explorer. All of these browsers are free. Firefox and Chrome are installed on all campus lab computers. 2. Instead of going through the MySOU portal, go to the Disability Resources website at and click on the Sign in to AIMS link. LOGIN DIFFICULTIES - EXPIRED I used the correct username/password information, but I can t get in! Generally, this happens when a notetaker has graduated or withdrawn from classes for more than three terms.

3 SOLUTION In order to reactivate your account, send an to letting us know that you are again taking classes and ready to take notes. I FORGOT MY LOGIN INFO NOW WHAT? Is it the same as my network/mysou login? SOLUTION It might be, if that s what you set it to. The AIMS login is separate from your network account. If you forgot your password, Click on the Reset My Password link on the login page. Enter your username and the CAPTCHA (two words in the graphic). This helps us distinguish that you are, in fact, human. If you have trouble reading the words, try listening to the audio (click the speaker button) or enlarging the screen (CTRL+). I RESET MY LOGIN INFO, SO WHERE S THE WITH NEW INFO? There are a couple possible reasons that your reset doesn t show up. 1. You entered your username incorrectly. 2. Your account status has expired. 1. In either case, please us at DSS@sou.edu. We can figure out what happened and let you know what needs to happen from here. If you can, please send a screenshot of the error message, as this will help us figure out the problem.

4 BECOMING A NOTETAKER Using Firefox or Safari, login to the MySOU Portal. Click on the Academic Support tab, then the $50 and Priority Registration? Apply to be a notetaker! button. On the right, click on the Notetaker, Sign Up! button. After reading the notetaker expectations, enter your SOU ID (beginning with 940), select a username, and enter your SOU address. Then enter the words in the CAPTCHA box so we can verify you re a human and not a spambot. If you have trouble reading the words, try listening to the audio (click the speaker button) or enlarging the screen (CTRL+).

5 Continue to fill in the next page. You will then receive an with your login information from your and then log in to AIMS. A notetaker contract must be completed prior to registering or uploading notes for courses. A confirmation page will show what registered courses are active or canceled. UPLOADING ELECTRONIC NOTES All notes you take must be uploaded to AIMS in order to be tracked by our system and to get to all students in the course who are eligible for them. If you do not upload notes, you will not receive priority registration or the Bookstore gift certificate. 1. Scan (instructions below) or type your notes. AIMS can accept uploads of the following formats:.doc,.docx,.txt.,.rtf,.pdf,.xls,.xlsx 2. Log in to AIMS 3. Scroll down to the uploading section of the page

6 4. Fill in the information requested 5. Click the Choose File button and select the file for the notes you ve taken. 6. Confirm below that your notes have uploaded correctly WHY WON T MY NOTES UPLOAD? - SIZE AIMS will only accept file sizes of 1 MB or less. With Word or text notes, this is rarely an issue. If you have scanned your notes, you will need to re-scan at a lower resolution. 1. Make sure you have chosen a black-and-white scan rather than color or grayscale 2. Set resolution at 150 dpi or lower (check your scanning software s help files to see how to do this)

7 3. If you took a number of pages of notes, you may need to split them into 2 or 3 batches of a couple of pages each. WHY WON T MY NOTES UPLOAD? - FORMAT AIMS will only accept file formats of.doc,.docx,.txt.,.rtf,.pdf,.xls, or.xlsx. If you have scanned your notes, you will need to re-scan and save as a.pdf. Rescan your notes as a.pdf. If you need assistance, check your scanning software s help files.
