2 Demonstrate the correct way to set up a municipal government Facebook page. Common mistakes and how to fix them.

3 You will need the following items: 1. Primary and Secondary Municipal addresses dedicated to Facebook 2. Sign-in Name and Password for Facebook Account 3. Profile Photo/Graphic (Seal) 181 x 181px 4. Cover Photo 851 x 315px

4 Base Account Use your municipal address (not your personal address) and name. Later you should add additional administrators in case you leave When finished click on Sign Up

5 Base Account Skip this step. Because your address is new, this step is of no value.

6 Base Account Add the name of your Town. Leave the other items unselected. Click Next.

7 SWITCH TO YOUR Log in to the account you provided during the initial account setup. Open the from Facebook and click on the Confirm Your Account button. You will be returned to Facebook.

8 Base Account Go to Settings and in the General category on the left, set Your Username. This is important. You cannot set your town Facebook address later without a username.

9 FB PAGE Now Create the Facebook Pages Account that will become your Municipal Facebook Page. (Do Not sign out of Facebook) Go to your web browser address bar and type or copy and paste

10 FB PAGE Select Company, Organization or Institution

11 FB PAGE Select Government Organization and also add the name of your town Click on Get Started

12 FB PAGE Description: This is the Official Municipal Government Facebook page for the Town of MYTown Add your website address Create your Facebook Town Address

13 FB PAGE Upload your Town Seal for the Profile Photo. The graphic should be 180px square and can be jpg, png or gif.

14 FB PAGE Add your Town Website as a Favorite Link.

15 FB PAGE Skip the Reach More People section. This is a fee service where they pay people to Like your page.

16 FB PAGE A series of pop-ups will appear to recommend next steps. Click on the Page link

17 FB PAGE Click on Add a Cover (top left This is the large photo/banner. The size should be 851px by 315px You can have it larger or smaller, but will need to move it around.

18 FB PAGE Enter a custom Facebook Page address. Note, your user name must be set first. You can only change your Facebook address once. Watch for typos.

19 FB PAGE Click on Settings to manage the ability of visitors to post comments, videos and photos.

20 FB PAGE Click on Posting Ability Edit to change visitors posting ability; Review posts by other people before they are shown on my page or disable posts by other people on my timeline to not allow posts.

21 FB PAGE Turn on the profanity filter. Use Page Roles to set up a second Administrator or at least Editor. In Apps add the Events App use it as a calendar for upcoming events.

22 FB PAGE Suggested Edits turn on to allow people to suggest changes to your Facebook Page. Only you see them and you can accept or decline them.

23 FB PAGE Featured if you have other pages for town departments/functions add them to the Featured section. Mobile tells you how to update the site using your cell phone.

25 Facebook was set up with a personal address. Change the Primary Facebook address 1. Go to General Account Settings 2. Click on Edit in the section 3. Click on Add an 4. Facebook will send a confirmation to the new address to confirm its yours 5. In the you receive, there is a "please click here" in the body of the - click on that link 6. Takes you to Facebook Login screen 7. Login with the OLD address and your password 8. This action will update the new address as primary and remove the previous address

26 Facebook was set up as personal account. Convert a Personal account to a Facebook Page Friends will be converted to Likes Download your Personal profile information so you can rebuild the Pages account. Posts, photos and bios are not converted. In Account Settings, click on download a copy of your Facebook data NOTE: Posts, photos and bios are not migrated to your Page.

28 We have multiple Facebook Pages, but no central control Appoint one Primary Administrator to be added to all Facebook Accounts. Require the administrator for each Facebook account to add the designated person as a second administrator.

29 Can we merge two Facebook accounts? No, you cannot merge two Facebook Accounts. The best you can do is download everything from one account and then recreate it as a new Page in the Base Account. You will have to manually add Friends to become Followers. Step-by-step procedure Log in to your base account and create an new Page account Set up additional Pages when logged into the base account
