8 About MyAssistant As of MyAssistant version 9.7, the MyAssistant version must match the Sage Timberline Office version. The installation type determines where the MA Server resides. Product Activation determines the feature available to a specified user. Separate product keys for MyAssistant Server, MyAssistant Designer, and MyAssistant Product activation tied to a Windows user on a specified computer 9

MyAssistant Server: Runs tasks Generates Crystal reports Creates messages Install MyAssistant Workstation on Terminal Server. Each user activates a license of MyAssistant or MyAssistant Designer when opening the application on the Terminal Server for the first time. 11 Workstation

11 4 Simple Steps To Install or Upgrade MyAssistant 1. Install MyAssistant Server on Server. 2. Activate and configure MyAssistant Server. 3. Install MyAssistant Workstation on workstations. 4. Activate MyAssistant or MyAssistant Designer on workstations and run configuration. 12

12 Review the Installation Guide. The key to a successful installation is in the preparation! Check the system requirements. Gather the necessary information. 13

13 Before You Begin Check the following on the server and the workstations: The latest MS Windows and Office updates have been installed. Installing the High Priority updates is recommended. That the Sage Timberline Office server was rebooted the night before. That you can start Sage Timberline Office (even on the server). Hardware / Software requirements are met. Sage Timberline Office ODBC driver is installed. 14

14 Before You Begin Exclude the following from anti-virus, firewall or other Internet filtering software: ISDAdminServices.exe MyAssistantConfigurationManager.exe Myassistant.exe 15

15 Step 1: Install MyAssistant Server Normally installed on Sage Timberline Office server (95%). Before you begin the installation on the server: Is the full version MS SQL Server already installed? Is server a Domain Controller? Deactivate Windows User Access Control (UAC). Deactivate Windows / other firewall running on that machine. Pause Anti-virus software. 16

16 Step 1: Install MyAssistant Server What is installed? Prerequisites as needed: Windows installer 4.5.Net 3.5 SP1 ISD Instance of MS SQL Server Express 2008 R2 SP1 (optional) Crystal runtime MyAssistant program files MyAssistant MyAssistant Configuration Manager MyAssistant Live Tile MyAssistant Alert Sage Desktop plugin 17

17 MyAssistant Server Installation Potential Issues: User stops the SQL install or upgrade because it s taking a long time. MS SQL Server fails due to system check. Server is pending a reboot from a prior install. Firewall. Domain controller. MS SQL Server version is older than Upgrading 32-bit SQL installation in a 64-bit environment. 19

18 Step 2: Configure MyAssistant Server During the configuration process, you: Activate MyAssistant Server. Specify SQL Server connection information (Optional). Select the version of pre-built Tasks (Construction or Real Estate). Specify the Sage Timberline Office data folders to monitor, and the Sage Timberline Office user ID and password to access the databases. Creates Windows DSNs to access the STO and MA data. Provide the server and credentials for sending notifications. 20

19 Before Configuring the Server Gather the following information: Customer ID and MyAssistant Server product key. List of Sage Timberline Office data folders that should be monitored. Make sure company is in File > Open Company list. If Service Management is used, open the application and run a report to ensure that an ODBC connection to the SM database is established. Sage Timberline Office user ID and password used to access the databases. Must have sufficient security privileges to run Tasks. Password set to never expire. 21

20 Before Configuring the Server Gather the following information: account MyAssistant will use to send notification messages. Name or IP address of the outgoing mail server (SMTP Connection). User name and password for the account. port if different than 25. * Microsoft Exchange is not required. May use ISP or web-based . Proxy server user name and password (if proxy server is used). 22

21 Configure MyAssistant Server Potential Issues: Activation Internet access is blocked. Product key is wrong or in use on a prior server. During the Sage Timberline Office database selection: Not all data folders are displayed. Unable to create DSN because Sage Timberline Office ODBC is not installed correctly or insufficient privileges. SM DSN not created from Service Management. Windows user not mapped to Sage Timberline Office user. server connection Non-Outlook client is blocked. Server won t reply. Anti-virus software is blocking. 25

22 Step 3: Install MyAssistant Workstation What are you installing? Prerequisites as needed: Windows installer 4.5.Net 3.5 SP1 Crystal runtime MyAssistant program files MyAssistant MyAssistant Live Tile MyAssistant Alert Sage Desktop plugin 26

23 Step 4: Configure MyAssistant Workstation During the configuration process, you: Activate the software using the product key for: MyAssistant MyAssistant Designer * License tied to Windows user. Specify path to Sage Timberline Office data folders specified when configuring the MyAssistant server. Enter the user s Sage Timberline Office user ID and password. Define MyAssistant settings. 28

24 Before Configuring the Workstation Gather the following information: MyAssistant or MyAssistant Designer product key. List of databases that should be monitored. Make sure company is in File > Open Company list. If Service Management is used, open the application and run a report to ensure that an ODBC connection to the SM database is established. 29

25 Installation on Standalone Machine For Business Partners and consultants who are installing MyAssistant on their machine for demos. Install MyAssistant Server. Run the MyAssistant Server configuration and use the product key for MyAssistant Server. Open the MyAssistant application. The first time you open MyAssistant, it launches the User Configuration Manager. Enter the product key for MyAssistant Designer and complete the configuration. 31

26 Test the Installation and Configuration Open MyAssistant Designer. Print a list of the pre-built Tasks (Reports > Tasks). Activate a Task. Send the notifications to yourself by . Run Task with Check For option in Live Tile. 32
