ALERT SIA-IP driver 1) Installation A) Installation of the SIA-IP driver When installing the software ALERT, the driver "SIA-IP" should be selected (Component "Alert" option "Communication drivers"). If the software installation has already been performed, proceed to a new installation by selecting this option. The old options are preserved. B) License registration To be able to activate the driver SIA-IP, the license of the driver (common to drivers SIA and SIA-IP) must be validated. To check that this license is validated, you can display the "About" dialog box (menu "? / About ALERT") then search in the list the option "SIA driver license". If this option is not marked "Enabled", contact your dealer to acquire the required license.
2) Configuration of the SIA-IP driver In the dialog box "Communication" (menu "Configuration / Communication"), tab "Drivers", if the "SIA-IP" entry is not displayed in the list, you have first to add the SIA-IP driver by clicking on the "Add" button. When the SIA-IP driver has been added, double-click on the entry "SIA-IP" in the list to configure it. A) Definition of the receiver stations The list of Central Station Receivers (CSR) that can be contacted by the SIA-IP driver is displayed in the first dropdown list. Each station is defined by a name (a numeric identifier by default), a connection mode (UDP / TCP), an IP address and an IP port. To change the settings of the station selected in the list, click on the "Edit" button. The dialog box to configure the communication parameters of the station is displayed (see E below). To add a station, click on the "Add" button. The same dialog box is displayed to define the communication parameters of the new station (see E below). To delete the station selected in the list, click on the "Delete" button.
B) Transmitter parameters These parameters can be defined with different values for each of the receiver stations. The parameters shown are those of the receiver station selected in the dropdown list at the top of the dialog box. The Premises Equipment (PE) simulated by ALERT is defined by 3 identifiers: The account number, mandatory, consists of 3-16 hexadecimal digits. The account prefix, optional, consists of 6 hexadecimal digits maximum. The receiver number, optional, consists of 6 hexadecimal digits maximum. These identifiers are normally provided by the remote monitoring company that will process the SIA-IP messages sent by ALERT. The drop-down list "Message Format" defines the format of data transmitted in the SIA-IP message body. In the current version of the driver, you can select one of two following formats: SIA-DCS: format SIA DC-04. ADM-CID: format Contact ID DC-05. The parameters of the format selected in the list can be defined by clicking on the "Parameters" button adjacent to the drop-down list (see F and G below). C) Parameters of the receiver station These parameters can be defined with different values for each of the receiver stations. The parameters shown are those of the receiver station selected in the dropdown list at the top of the dialog box. Response timeout: maximum waiting time for acknowledgment by the receiver station of messages transmitted by the driver (recommended value: 20 seconds). Max transmission attempt count: maximum number of transmissions of a message to the receiver station in case of no response or negative acknowledgment (recommended value: 3). Connection control period: period for sending a link control frame to the receiver station. This period is displayed in the format "hh:mm:ss" (hours, minutes, seconds), but can be entered in seconds. This period can be set between 10 seconds and 3600 seconds to 1 hour and 1080 hours (45 days). The "Encryption" option validates the encryption of messages. If this option is enabled, the encryption key must be defined: Selection of the key size (128 bits, 192 bits or 256 bits). Definition of the key as a string of respectively 32, 48 or 64 hexadecimal characters, relatively to the size of the selected key. For security reasons, this key is never displayed and is stored in encrypted form. To enter it, it may be preferable to first type it in a text editor (e.g. notepad) then copy it in the edit field of the dialog box. The "Timestamp" option validates the addition to the messages of a timestamp in GMT time. This option is always forced for encrypted messages. D) General options
The following parameters are defined for all the receiver stations: Automatic acknowledgment of calls: when this option is enabled, the call to the receiver station is automatically acknowledged when all messages have been transmitted and accepted by the central station (transmission acknowledgment). Trace of transmitted messages: This option validates the trace in the ALERT journal of all messages sent to the receiver station. E) Connection parameters of a receiver station This dialog box defines the connection parameters for a receiver station: The name of the station. This name is an alphanumeric string to designate the station to call when defining a SIA-IP call for an operator. By default, the name of a station is defined by a unique numeric identifier and auto incremented. The IP address of the receiver station. The IP port defined as input port on the receiver station to receive the connection requests (TCP mode) or the datagrams (UDP mode) transmitted by ALERT. The used link protocol: UDP (datagrams exchange without connection) or TCP (connected mode).
F) Parameters of SIA-DCS format The SIA-DCS format is defined by the norm SIA DC (Digital Communications Standard - SIA 2000 Protocol for Alarm System Communications). The default event codes are those that will be sent by ALERT for all alarms that do not redefine the event code associated with their short message (see 3 "Usage" below). The alarm code is the code that will be sent when an alarm is triggered, the reset code is the code that will be transmitted when the alarm is reset (if the call on reset is validated for the alarm in question). By clicking on the buttons on the right of the fields displaying the default event codes, one can choose another code belongs the valid codes proposed:
G) Parameters of ADM-CID format The ADM-CID format is defined by the norm DC (Digital Communications Standard - Ademco Contact ID Protocol for Alarm System Communications). The default partition number is defined by a numeric value which designates a group number between 0 and 99. The default event code is the code that will be transmitted by ALERT for all alarms that do not redefine the event code in their associated short message (see 3 Usage below). By clicking on the button on the right of the field displaying the default event code, one can choose another code belongs the valid codes proposed:
3) Usage A) Definition of the operators called by the SIA-IP driver The monitoring company called by the SIA-IP driver is defined as an operator in ALERT, which can be added to all groups called for the alarms that will require warning the monitoring company. The "dial numbers" of the monitoring company must be defined for this operator with the type "SIA-IP" corresponding to the SIA-IP driver previously installed. These "numbers" are the names of the central stations that were defined when configuring the SIA-IP driver (see 2-E above). Multiple numbers (stations) can be defined for the same operator, the second number being called if the call of the first number failed, and so on. B) Definition of alarm messages transmitted by the SIA-IP driver The SIA-IP driver only uses the short messages of the defined tags. The short message is used as an identifier of the event transmitted to the monitoring company. Its interpretation depends on the message format defined in the configuration of the SIA-IP driver: SIA-DCS format: The short message can define a numeric code of 1 to 4 characters to be transmitted with the default event code configured in the driver SIA-IP, or a specific event code for the alarm. In this case, the short message begins with 2 alphanumeric characters followed by 1 to 4
numeric characters. The first 2 characters define an event code to choose among the valid codes (see the list of codes in the default configuration of the driver for a list of valid codes). Example: The short message 1234 will be sent as the event UA1234 (standard configuration of the default event code) to signal a technical alarm on the zone The short message "GA1234" will be sent as is to signal a gas alarm in the zone "1234". ADM-CID format: The short message can define an area code (or user code) between 0 and 999, which will be sent with the default event code defined by the configuration of the driver. The short message can also redefine a specific event code (see list of valid codes in the configuration of the driver), followed by the character "-" and the zone or user number. Example: The short message "1234" will be sent as the event " " (standard configuration of the default event code) to indicate a general alarm in the zone "1234" The short message " " will be sent as is to signal a gas alarm in the zone "1234".
