2 Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service allowing library items to be made available from one library system to another. We borrow books, audiobooks, videos, DVDs, CDs and articles from other libraries not available in the Yavapai Library Network. Guidelines This service is available to any Sedona Library card holder in good standing. Borrow books, DVD's, CD's, articles and more from libraries across the country not available in the Yavapai Library Network. There is a $3.00 fee if an item comes from a library outside of Arizona. You may limit your request to Arizona at no charge. Please be aware, this service is subject to availability. If the Sedona Public Library or other Yavapai Library Network library already owns an item, it is not eligible for ILL request. When your item arrives, you will receive a phone or notification to pick it up at the Reference Desk at the Sedona Public Library or SPL in the Village. Checkout periods and renewal requests for ILL materials are determined by the lending library. The average lending period is 3 weeks. Each card holder may have up to 5 active requests. $.25 fee for each day an item is returned after its due date. If you order an article we may be able to deliver it electronically at no charge. If you require an article to be printed, there is a $.10 per page printing fee due at pick-up. Requesting an Item from another Library Begin your search at Under Resources select Interlibrary Loan : o o Fill out the ILL Request form or Search for items and submit your request in WorldCat Discovery Services Searching WorldCat Discovery 1. On the Basic Search page enter a title, author or keyword and click the magnifying glass. 2. To narrow your results, use the Filtering options shown in orange on the next page or go directly to Advanced Search. For example, you can limit your search by format type e.g. DVD Video, Audiobook, Large Print, Print Book, ebook and more.

3 3. When you locate your item, click on the title to view the complete record. Click the title to open the record Search Term box: type in title, author, keyword, ISBN Filtering options: limit your results by format, author, date, language or topic. Click See All to get the complete list of options. Search Tips Too few results? When you begin your search, be careful not to enter too many search terms or limits at one time. This could leave you empty handed. Capitalization is not necessary, but spelling is important. For the most accurate book search, enter an ISBN number. This can be done in Basic Search. To obtain magazine or journal articles, search by periodical title. In the Comments field of your request include article title, author, volume number or issue date.

To find out the number of owning libraries, click on Availability / Holdings or Editions & Formats.

5 Submitting an Interlibrary Loan Request 1. Once you locate your item of choice, click Request Item : 2. You will be prompted to enter your name, phone number, and pickup location: Sedona Public Library or the SPL in the Village. 3. In the comments field specify if you want your request to be in-state or a U.S. search. Pro tip: the more libraries that carry an item, the greater your chances of obtaining it, so to get the best results conduct a broad nationwide search and avoid limiting the number of lending libraries. Conducting a broad nationwide search is the most successful. To keep costs low, we begin the ILL search in-state whenever available: Nationwide: $3.00 In-state: free 4. When completed click Submit. You will know your request was sent successfully if you see a message like this displayed on the bottom of your screen: 5.
