2 Summary The campus StarID support function is available to persons who are approved for one of these roles: StarID Help Desk StarID Student Administrator StarID Campus Administrator Persons with these roles have capabilities as shown below: Capability Search for a StarID account using StarID First, last and middle name address State employee number Tech ID and Institution Activation Status View StarID account status & attributes Activation status Password status and dates Lock status First, last, middle & informal name list Scoped Tech ID list Scoped Library Card Barcode list StarID Help Desk? 3 StarID Search After logging into StarID Support, the user lands on the StarID search page. Search can use any combination of the following attributes: StarID First Name Last Name Middle Name Address Tech ID State Employee Number Activation Status (True/False) School Search results display the user StarID, first and last Name, institution List (where user has affiliations) and list. page 3 of 5

4 View StarID account status and attributes Selecting a StarID from the search results listing displays all account details on a single window. The window includes an option to generate a verification code and an option to reset the user s password. Activation Status will display True if the StarID has been activated. It will display False if not activated. Lock status will be ENTSEC or OTHER if locked by an enterprise StarID administrator and PWEXPRD when the password has expired. Decommissioned will display Y if the StarID is associated with an ISRS account that has been deleted as part of a duplicate resolution or core merge process. Password Expired will display True if the password has expired. It will display False if the password has not expired. Generate Verification Code A verification code automatically expires one hour after it is created and can be used only once. StarID Campus Administrators can generate a verfication code for employees and students at their authorized school. StarID Student Administrators can generate a verfication code for a student unless the student is also an employee. Student Administrators are not allowed to generate a verification code for anyone who has an employee affiliation at any MnSCU institution. StarID Help Desk staff are not allowed to generate a verfication code. Reset Password The Reset Password option creates a system generated password that is compliant with StarID password policy. The StarID user is not forced to change this password until it expires 180 days later. StarID Campus Administrators can reset a password for employees or students. page 4 of 5

5 StarID Student Administrators and StarID Help Desk staff are not allowed to reset a password for anyone. Who is considered an employee? StarID Student Adminstrators cannot create a verification code for someone with an employee affiliation at any MnSCU school. This includes: Staff: Persons with a current staff assignment. A staff assignment no longer qualifies the person as an employee the day after the assignment ends. Faculty: Persons with a current or impending faculty assignment. This also includes persons with a faculty assignment that has ended within the last 120 days. Student employees Persons with a current student worker assignment. A student work assignment no longer qualifies the person as an employee the day after the assignment ends. page 5 of 5
