1 MATLAB installation instructions All existing and new MATLAB accounts must be associated with the College of Charleston's MATLAB license. Once your account is associate with the college license, you can then proceed to download and install MATLAB. Note: During the installation process your will be required to log into your MathWorks account three separate times. This is noted in the instruction below. Students: Before installing MATLAB contact your professor to obtain a list of modules and toolboxes to install. INSTRUCTIONS Associating an existing MATLAB account with the College of Charleston license 1. Existing MATLAB users click this link Associate my MATLAB Account log into MATLAB with your existing MATLAB credentials. This will associate your account with the College of Charleston license. You will receive a confirmation from MathWorks. New MATLAB accounts with the College of Charleston license 1. New users click this link Create my MATLAB Account this will take you to the Create MathWorks account page. a. When creating your account you must use your College of Charleston address. i. Faculty & Staff: username@cofc.edu ii. Students: username@g.cfoc.edu. b. After completing the required information and clicking create, you will received an from MathWorks asking you to verify you address. Once you click the verify link in the , you will receive a second confirming that your MATLAB account has been associated with the College of Charleston license. Continuation for all Accounts 2. This is an individual MATLAB license. Only the user who is logged in at the time of activation can use the software. Professors requiring multiple user licenses must contact the Helpdesk and request a lab or classroom install. 1 of 13

2 3. Once you have associated your account with the College of Charleston s MATLAB license continue to the downloading and installation MATLAB section. 4. Go to MathWorks.com and log into your MathWorks account 5. In the upper right hand corner of the web page will see your username. 6. Click the down arrow and select my account. 7. If you do not see your username, click the link for Products at the top of the page, this will refresh your page and you will see your username. 2 of 13

3 8. Click the download arrow next the word Academic 9. Click the R2016B in the middle of the page 3 of 13

4 10. Select your operating system (MAC/Windows) 11. Downloaded installer file click Run the installer starts automatically. 4 of 13

5 12. Click Run 13. Log In with a MathWorks Account option selected (the default), and then click Next. 14. Review the software license agreement and, if you agree with the terms, select Yes and click Next. 5 of 13

6 15. To log in to your MathWorks Account, enter your address and password, and click Next. The installer contacts MathWorks to retrieve information about the licenses associated with your account. 16. Select install and click next. 6 of 13

7 17. Select a license from the list of licenses associated with your MathWorks Account and click Next. 18. Accept the default installation locations. Click Next. 7 of 13

8 19. The list shows all the products associated with the license you selected. Select each module or toolbox that you want to install. Students should contact their respective professor to get a list of the products and toolboxes that you need to install. 20. If you do not see a product listed, it is not included with the College of Charleston MATLAB license. 21. After selecting the products you want to install, click Next to continue with the installation NOTE: DOWNLOADING ALL OF THE PRODUCTS WILL INCREASE THE DOWNLOAD TIME. We recommend only downloading what applications you need. 8 of 13

9 22. Click NEXT to accept the default installation options Windows 23. Click Install to confirm you license and products 9 of 13

10 24. Confirm the modules and toolboxes on the confirmations page click NEXT Note Your selection may differ depending which modules and toolboxes you downloaded 10 of 13

11 Activating MATLAB 1. After the installation finishes, you must activate MATLAB. The activation screen will start automatically. 2. Ensure that the Activate MATLAB box is checked. Click NEXT 3. Click NEXT 11 of 13

12 4. Ensure that I will use the software box is selected, verify your name as the logged in user and click NEXT. Note: The College of Charleston MATLAB license is a single user base license. Contact the help desk to request a multi-user license.. 5. Verify that the activated by and login names correct. They do not have to match. Click Confirm 12 of 13
