1 Step 1: Confirm desire to be connected to the NS DIS To confirm your readiness to connect to the NS DIS, Danielle Paes at McKesson will contact the NS DIS Team indicating that we have reached out to you and have begun the process of getting you connected. You will receive an from the NS DIS Team containing the Nova Scotia Pharmacy Go Live Toolkit and forms that need to be completed and returned to the NS DIS. The NS DIS Team will review the Toolkit with you to ensure each pharmacy understands what is required. Step 2: Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) Please find attached a sheet provided by the NS DIS Team for both Aliant and Eastlink, for your reference. You must ensure that you are very clear on what you are requesting from the ISP. Your existing internet connection must be upgraded to a STATIC IP. As per the requirement of the NS DIS your internet must be STATIC. You do not need a separate connection! All existing traffic and the new DIS traffic will use the same Static IP connection. When your ISP has confirmed this is completed, this step can be marked complete and you can proceed to Step 3. Information for Aliant Customers Information for Eastlink Customers To upgrade to a static IP service the following information has to be sent to smb@bellaliant.ca Identify the name/service address of the pharmacy Provide the fax number with the existing service on it Advise they want to upgrade to static IP service and remove the old internet service once the static IP is up and running The static IP service can have 1-5 static IP s available, identify how many are required (it s usually just 1) There is a router that is required, Pharmacy can purchase their own or rent one from Bell Aliant for per month Provide a name/number for onsite contact person for the tech To upgrade to a static IP service the following information has to be sent to paul.bugden@corp.eastlink.ca or call Identify the name/service address of the pharmacy Advise they want to upgrade to static IP service Provide a name/number for onsite contact person 1 P age

2 Step 3: Contact McKesson with your Static IP You must send an to or call with the following: Subject: PID Name of Pharmacy Static IP As requested my ISP has upgraded my internet connection to Static IP. Can McKesson please confirm they have completed the necessary changes in order that NS DIS can be advised of this change in internet. Ensure to include the Static IP credentials Once McKesson has completed this change, they will send you a confirmation that your VPN has been configured. Once you have received this , this step can be marked complete and you can proceed to Step 4. Step 4: Contact NS DIS with your Static IP Your pharmacy must send an to DIS@novascotia.ca when the Static IP has been confirmed by McKesson. The is to include: Subject: Name of Pharmacy Static IP Configured As requested my ISP has upgraded my internet connection to Static IP. McKesson has also validated this. Please confirm when you have completed your activation. Ensure to include the Static IP credentials This is essential. As well, it would be helpful if you can include the Upload and Download speeds. Your pharmacy must ensure all forms required by the NS DIS Team are completed and returned. Forms are required to complete activation. The NS DIS Team will reply to both the Pharmacy and McKesson that they have completed the necessary activation of the store s IP in their security system. Once you have received this confirmation, this step can be marked complete and you can proceed to Step 5. 2 P age

3 Step 5: Confirm NS DIS Connectivity The next few steps are very important. Please read carefully. Scheduling of your Go Live Date and training will not take place until this has been confirmed. In a web browser click on the link: If you see this page, as shown below, it indicates that you have physical access to the DIS POS portal/gateway. If the page does not appear, please contact Customer Care by at ptscustomercare@mckesson.ca or by phone at to report that the connectivity has not been set up. If the page above appears, then you must send the following s: 1) Send an to the NS DIS team at DIS@novascotia.ca Subject: Name of Pharmacy Connectivity Test Complete As requested, I am advising that our pharmacy has successfully completed the connectivity test. 2) Send an to McKesson at ptscustomercare@mckesson.ca Subject: Name of Pharmacy NS DIS Connectivity Test Complete Please be advised I have completed the necessary connectivity test with the NS DIS. The NS DIS has been advised that this test was successful. Please contact me to discuss the necessary go live dates and training. Once these s have been sent, this step can be marked complete and you can proceed to Step 6. 3 P age

4 Step 6: Now you are ready for training and Go Live It will be essential that your staff complete all NS DIS online training. It will be the pharmacy s responsibility to review the NS DIS Pharmacy Go Live Toolkit as discussed with the NS DIS Team. You will be contacted by McKesson regarding your Go Live and training dates. Training is essential to a successful implementation. Once you go live, you can mark this step complete. 4 P age

5 Nova Scotia Drug Information System Internet Service Provider Pricing The Nova Scotia Drug Information System project has secured internet rates for static IP service for pharmacies. These rates are provided by Bell Aliant and Eastlink. Pricing and contact information is provided below. Your pharmacy software vendor can assist you in determining the service that you will require based on your pharmacy volumes. When contacting the Internet Service Provider indicate that you are seeking the Nova Scotia Drug Information System pricing.
