1 Block Registration Instructions Page 1 of 10 To register for first year classes you need to log into the Hamline University School of Law (HUSL) student registration system. The system goes by the name of Piperline (the Fighting Piper is Hamline s mascot). You may access Piperline at by clicking on the Login to secure area link.

2 Block Registration Instructions Page 2 of 10 Log in to Piperline using the student ID and PIN provided in your deposit confirmation letter. (If you changed your PIN already, you should, of course, use your current PIN.) Your Hamline student ID number is a seven digit number starting with the numeral 9. If you need assistance with your student ID or PIN, please call the Office of the Registrar at

6 Block Registration Instructions Page 6 of 10 Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Class/Block Search From the drop down menu choose one of the Weekday blocks. Click on Class/Block Search to view the courses in the block.

7 Block Registration Instructions Page 7 of 10 You may enroll in these classes as a block only. If you uncheck any of the selected classes you will not be able to register for any of the other listed classes. Similarly, if any one of the classes is full (check the Enroll column), you won t be able to register for any of the listed classes. Click on the Submit Registration button to register, or, click on the Class/Block Search to select a different block of classes. Please note: these screen shots are merely examples; you will see something similar when you log in to Piperline.

8 Block Registration Instructions Page 8 of 10 When you click on the Submit Registration button, a screen similar to the following should appear (if it doesn t, please see the Common Error Messages section below). You may then print your schedule or click on the Student Detail Schedule at the bottom left of the screen for more information about your classes (not shown). To drop these classes, click on any of the Action drop-down lists, select **Web Drop/Delete** and click the Submit Registration button. You may not drop just one class from this block and add one from another; you must drop all classes and then proceed to select a new block. Click on the EXIT button on the top right of the screen to logout.

9 Block Registration Instructions Page 9 of 10 Common Error Messages There is a hold on your record that precludes you from registering. You can view current registration holds by clicking on the View Holds link. Holds can only be lifted by the office that placed them; you must contact the office that originated the hold. Someone at Hamline is currently reviewing your registration records. You should wait a few minutes and try again. You are attempting to register for extra classes (as a first year student you may register for up to 14 credits). You may only register for one of the predefined blocks of first year required classes. You are attempting to register for a non-first year class. You may only register for one the predefined blocks of first year required classes. You are attempting to register for a class outside your college, typically, it means that you are a day student trying to register for weekend classes. A list of registration errors like the following typically means you are missing one of the classes from the predefined block or one of the classes in the block is full. You must register for a complete set of classes, all must be from the same block and all must have available seats. To determine what the problem might be, click on the Back button of your browser to return to the prior screen.

10 Block Registration Instructions Page 10 of 10 If your screen looks something like the following (notice the c in the last row of the first column), then one of the classes in this block is closed (sorry, no more seats!). You must select a different block. To do so, click on Click/Block Search button. If your screen looks something like the following, you need to make sure all the checkboxes are set before you click the Submit Registration button.
