2 Floating License Model The floating license model reduces cost for customers. Multiple users can share a license as long as only one user is using the Workstation at any given point of time. The floating licensed CE system requires a Window 2003 or 2008 server to control the license. The floating licensed CE Workstation must be connected to the license server. However the user has the option to check out the license up to a certain time (7 days by default) to work offline. The installation of CE Workstation is simpler: download and run the Workstation setup file from the license server web page. No license activation is required from the Workstation.

4 L2 Map Improvements Improve L2 map layout, showing the core switches at the top and edge switches at the bottom. Better support for Port channels: show connectivity in physical port level and port channel level, the corresponding port-channel name for physical port and all physical port name for the port-channel port. Port-channel, trunk port and access port are highlighted. Display the connected ports prior to unused ports. The drawing of L2 path is improved so that each hop port is clearly displayed in the map.

5 Auto Update Map Validate the map against the current baseline and the differences are highlighted in the map. In just one click, the map can be regenerated with current network data.

6 Usability Improvements Use the ribbon menu bars instead of pull down menus. A six-step Workspace Wizard has been added to help setup workspace easier Define Access Credentials and Proxies Discover Live Network Add More Devices by Importing Configuration Files Tune Live Access Benchmark Network and Build L3 & L2 Topology Create L3/L2 Topology Maps Start page has improved An entry point is provided for each frequently used functions on the start page. The user can drag and drop the devices to the start page to map out these devices. Feature Guides are provided. Each feature guide provides tips on how to use NetBrain in real world use case.

7 Bug Fixes and Other Improvements Handle the more return elegantly while issuing show command in CLI. So even if no paging command fails, the system can still retrieve live data. Able to retrieve the live CLI data from ASA firewall without pager line 0 configured in device and thus able to discover L2 topology for devices behind the firewall. Allow access to live network from the local machine directly when no Proxy or Jumpbox exists. Discover L2 port information via SNMP. Improve the logic of Tune Live Access so that any failure will not affect other items, for example, Telnet/SSH device settings will not be reset when SNMP fails. Add Telnet/SSH Setting to specify the Jumpbox for Smart Telnet/SSH.
