Compatibility The PREEvision client, the database server and the PREEvision application on the application server are only compatible within exactly the same PREEvision version. Using a new client version on a previous server version or a previous client version on a new server version is not supported and may lead to data inconsistencies or data loss. The customized metric block SW Component Update now provides a new Data Source Port that returns the created Product Line. The connector can be decoupled from the connection via the dereference button next to the drop-down list. 13 PREEvision 8.0 SP5 1.5 Known issues Online help is not displayed correctly ( ) Depending on which default browser and which settings are configured on the client computer, the online help may not be displayed correctly, in this way that: > images are not automatically fitted to page size, > the help navigation tree cannot be expanded and > the top of the page is cut off. Workaround: 1. Activate active scripting in your system browser. 2. Open the PREEvision online help in a separate browser instead of in the integrated help browser of PREEvision. 17 PREEvision 8.0 SP4 2.3 New features LDF slave extract The new LDF slave extract narrows the LDF export of a LIN bus. It contains the communication of one specific LIN slave with the LIN master including the schedule tables. The export only considers the communication description of the selected slave with the master. Communication aspects related to other slaves are not contained in the exported LDF file. The Data Element of a UML Parameter can be access on the Service Implementation property page. New Java version License server version Compatibility Java 1.8.0_112 is now provided with the PREEvision client installation. Existing application server runtimes should also be updated to Java version 1.8.0_112. The new version of the stand-alone license server is available. 28 PREEvision 8.0 SP3 3.3 Changes Further information > Harmonization of computation method limits Harmonization of computation method limits In PREEvision the computation method limits are based on the concept. That means that the minimum and maximum values of the conversion represent the limiting values before the conversion. In detail: > If the conversion is defined from internal to physical, then the limits are internal values. > If the conversion is defined from physical to internal, then the limits are physical values. Error in PREEvision up to In DBC, the concept for computation method provides a formula to convert internal to physical values but the limits are physical values. Up to the version DBC import in PREEvision creates a computation method with the direction internaltophysical and sets the physical limits contained in the DBC into the place for the internal ones. That is a wrong modeling. The DBC export (up to version 8.0.2) read the limit values from the wrong place. Solution in PREEvision With PREEvision the DBC import and export have been changed to fix the described error: The DBC import sets: > Factor and offset into a LinearVerbalTableConversion at the internaltophysical role. > Minimum and maximum into a LinearVerbalTableConversion at the physicaltointernal role. The DBC export reads: > Factor and offset from the LinearVerbalTableConversion at the internaltophysical role. > Minimum and maximum from the LinearVerbalTableConversion at the physicaltointernal role. 29 PREEvision 8.0 SP3 With this solution, the DBC roundtrip still works. Correcting the data Using the metric for correction The changes made at DBC affect the modeling made by the DBC import and the resulting DBC file created with the DBC export. If you have imported DBC files with PREEvision or former versions, we highly recommend you to correct your existing data. The following use cases are affected: > DBC roundtrip > Signals which have been imported from DBC files with PREEvision or former versions have to be corrected. > Data imported using DBC and exported using > Signals which have been imported from DBC files with PREEvision or former versions have to be corrected and completed. PREEvision provides a metric to correct the data. The metric is located in Administration Metrics Utilities NetCom Calculate signal limits. The metric requires the following inputs (Data Target Ports): signals: Set of signals the correction shall be applied to. correct_min_max: When this parameter is set to true the minimum and maximum values set in the LinearVerbalTableConversion under InternalToPhysical role are moved to a new LinearVerbalTableConversion created under PhysicalToInternal role. This correction shall be applied to all signals imported from DBC with PREEvision or former versions and shall be exported to DBC. Calculate_internal_min_max: When this parameter is set to true, the internal minimum and maximum for the selected signals are calculated based on the physical minimum and maximum and set into the LinearVerbalTableConversion under InternalToPhysical. A mandatory condition is to set the parameter correct_min_max to true, otherwise it does nothing. calculate_physical_factor_offset: When this parameter is set to true, the physical factor and offset for the selected signals are calculated based on the internal factor and offset and set into the LinearVerbalTableConversion under PhysicalToInternal. A mandatory condition is to set the parameter correct_min_max to true, otherwise it does nothing. delete_physical_conversion: When this parameter is set to true, the LinearVerbalTableConversion under PhysicalToInternal role will be deleted. A mandatory condition is to set the parameter calculate_internal_min_max to true, otherwise it does nothing. This setting may be used to obtain only one correct LinearVerbalTableConversion on the InternalToPhysical role (e.g. for configurations). decimal_places: Set the number of decimal places for the calculation of minimum, maximum, factor and offset: > Set it to -1 to obtain the maximum decimal places supported by the internal data type. > Set it to 0 to obtain an integer number. > Set it to 1..n to obtain as many decimal places as wished up to the maximum decimal places supported by the internal data type. 30 PREEvision 8.0 SP3 Settings for the different use cases: DBC roundtrip If you are importing DBC files and later export this data as DBC files, apply the following settings: > Set the affected signals into the Metric Context Block signals. The metric corrects the referenced computation method. > Set the Parameter Block correct_min_max to true. > Optionally it is possible to calculate internal minimum and maximum and physical factor and offset. Data imported using DBC and exported using If you are importing DBC files and later export this data as files, apply the following settings: > Set the affected signals into the Metric Context Block signals. The metric corrects the referenced computation method. > Set the Parameter Block correct_min_max to true. > Set the Parameter Block calculate_internal_min_max to true. > Optionally set the Parameter Block delete_physical_conversion to true in the case that the physical conversion is no longer needed. > Optionally it is possible to calculate physical factor and offset to have a full description of both directions. > For both use cases > Set the Parameter Block decimal_places to the wished number of decimal places to be considered in all calculations (set it to -1 to take all calculated places without cut). PREEvision 2-tier Collaboration Platform discontinued Java 8 Backup/restore and migration The 2-tier Collaboration Platform has been discontinued for PREEvision 8.0. This also includes the Oracle based license server. Existing 2-tier environments must be migrated to the 3-tier Collaboration Platform. 2-tier to 3-tier migration has to be performed on PREEvision 7.5, first. Afterwards, 3-tier to 3-tier migration from PREEvision 7.5 to 8.0 is possible. Java 8 is now supported. Java 1.8.0_74 is provided with the PREEvision client installation. The following migration paths from PREEvision 7.5 to PREEvision 8.0 are supported: 2-tier to 3-tier migration from PREEvision 7.5 to 8.0: > without history (migration of latest model version only) > must be carried out in two steps: 1. Please use an operating system with a full character set of your language. For example, in order to support Japanese in PREEvision, the Japanese operating system has to be installed. Initially used for onboard diagnostics, communication with electric charging stations and camera-based driver assistance systems, the application areas of Ethernet are still expanding. PREEvision 8.0 supports the model-based design of Ethernet networks starting from the modeling of services and the corresponding software components to the final communication and system description. PREEvision 8.0 supports a service-oriented function design with SOA diagrams and the modeling of service interfaces. Ethernet networks can be designed in an -compliant way and can be imported and exported as files. Mixed topologies consisting of different bus technologies connected via gateways can also be modeled. Switch configuration and signal router for Ethernet The switched topology of Ethernet differs in many ways from topologies of CAN, LIN and FlexRay. Instead of a common bus used by all parties, in Ethernet different independent and separated networks within the bus, so called VLANs, can be defined. This is an advantage when it comes to security requirements. And it allows the management of the available bandwidth. The maximum bandwidth can be split and assigned to different function groups. PREEvision offers diagrams and tables to set up a switched topology and to configure the switches for different VLANs. The PREEvision signal router can set up an initial VLAN structure as a starting point for the development, but can also route signals through a given topology with defined VLANs. Furthermore the signal router automatically creates a big part of the communication artifacts needed to define the bus communication and automates failure-prone design steps. The DBC ECU Extract complements the -based extracts like the Cluster Extract or the Software Component Description. These extracts aim for a focused data exchange between OEM and suppliers. Furthermore extracts for or DBC can now be defined for specific needs. Query rules determine which data of the standard export will be included. From which model artifacts the extract can be started, e.g. on an ECU, is definable. PREEvision offers a default setting that meets the needs for most customers and is yet only a recommendation. E.g. if you drop an ECU on another ECU, you may want to merge them, replace one of them or start a comparison: PREEvision can now be customized accordingly to the needed use case. The figure below shows an example that simplifies the assignment of artifacts to tickets. Redesign and unification of rule-based extensions in export dialogs New customizing possibilities to support this feature are: > Model queries and virtual folders are now valid drop targets. > Grouping folders can be shown without any artifact (as drop target). > A metric-defined action can be set as default action. > Allowed drop targets can be restricted by name parts in addition to a defined class. > A priority can be set for Metric Executors to sort actions in menus. > A new option is available for Model Queries to show children. JMX monitoring Monitoring and managing the PREEvision server application is possible via the Java Management Extension (JMX). Standardized management interfaces (MBeans) provide statistics of the current state of the server application and allow to reconfigure settings during runtime. Management access is possible with the help of a standard JMX Console. Examples: > Monitoring the currently logged-in users and displaying a list of all configured users. > Setting the maximum number of bug reports to be stored in the database. Performance monitoring For dedicated actions performance measurements are logged in the application server.
