External Driver Configuration in Process Integration 7.1 Using JSPM Applies to: This article applies to PI 7.1. If PI 7.1 needs to talk to the other external database, we ll need to deploy the respective drivers in PI. Finally this document might be useful for those interested in preparing for PI Certification or attending for some XI/PI Interviews. For more information, visit the Service Bus-based Integration homepage. Summary A Business Scenario involving communication with an external database or a messaging system using PI 7.1, you need external drivers for the JDBC Adapter to be installed. The external drivers are provided by respective vendors in the form of Java archives (jars). You have to deploy these drivers to make them usable for the adapters in the SAP J2EE Server. For this purpose, the Adapter Engine installation provides the archive com.sap.aii.adapter.lib.sda, to which you have to add the required driver files. If PI does not have an external JDBC driver, you cannot use JDBC adapters to connect to external DB servers. Author: Sandeep Sharma Company: HCL Technology Noida Created on: 5 January 2010 Author Bio Sandeep Sharma is working as a SAP NetWeaver Consultant for HCL Technology Noida INDIA. He is SAP PI 7.0 certified developer. He is having a good experience in ALE/IDOC also SAP AG 1

Introduction and Overview Earlier till PI 7.0 we were using SDM to deploy JDBC and JMS drivers but in PI 7.1 we do not have SDM. In place of SDM, we are using JSPM The following steps are a summary of the step by step configuration described in this document. 1. Download the required JDBC driver from DB manufacturer's side. Note that the Driver version shall be considered, you can get the DB version first, and then determine which JDBC driver version you shall use. 2. Add the driver to the com.sap.aii.adapter.lib.sda archive. 3. Edit the provider.xml descriptor by adding the line <jar-name>driver-jar</jar-name> for each provider-specific JAR file in the <jars> section. 4. Start JSPM and deploy the changed com.sap.aii.adapter.lib.sda. Restart AS Java. The drivers are now known to the JDBC adapter and can be used. Thanks to my colleague Gagan Sharma for helping me in understanding BASIS issue during deployment of drivers. Pre-requisites: Download the Jar files for Oracle For Downloading the JAR files for Oracle. Go to this below link: Download the ojdbc14.jar (since I am using Oracle Driver) SAP AG 3
Installation Steps 1.1 Add the Driver Jar file to.sda file The SDA file format required for the deployment is basically a Zip-file format that contains additional text files, called descriptors, which describe the deployable library content (the JAR files packed in the SDA). Therefore, adding a JAR file to the archive means adding the JAR file with a Zip tool You can find com.sap.aii.adapter.lib.sda in directory DATA_UNITS\JAVA_J2EE_OSINDEP_J2EE_INST on your SAP NetWeaver 7.10 PI Java installation DVD. Or you can find on your server at following address: Drive:\PIInst\nw7.0widEHP1 Java based sw comp\data_units\java_j2ee_osindep_j2ee_inst Add the driver to the com.sap.aii.adapter.lib.sda archive as follows: Copy this SDA file to your local folder and open with winrar 2010 SAP AG 4
Open lib folder and add the ojdbc14.jar to this folder, as shown in the screenshot below Note: In the same way you can add other respective driver of databases to which you want to connect. For example: SQL or DB2 1.2 Edit the Provider.xml file Click on server folder, there you can find provider.xml 1. Open this provider.xml file with notepad and make the entry of the jars which you have added in previous step 2010 SAP AG 5
2. Return the changed provider.xml descriptor to the archive. Note Make sure that the original META-INF\ and server\ directories are retained under Path in the Zip archive. 1.3 Deploy using JSPM 1. Put the edited com.sap.aii.adapter.lib.sdafile in the JSPM inbox At this location Drive:\usr\sap\trans\EPS\in 2010 SAP AG 6
2. Run JSPM by clicking on go.bat file at this location Drive:\usr\sap\XD1\DVEBMGS00\j2ee\JSPM 3. Enter user name and password for J2ee_admin 2010 SAP AG 7
4. Select radio button Hot Fixes and follow the wizard Select the current version of the file which is shown in the screenshot and click on next 2010 SAP AG 8
Select the current version and click on start Click on next 2010 SAP AG 9
After some time status (IN PROGRES) will change to Deployed Restart AS Java. JDBC driver has been installed successfully. 1.4 Known Problem I am unable to see any SCA/SDA in the Specify Queue dialog box. OR I get the message "No applicable development component(s) found in the Inbox directory" OR How do I force the deployment of a component ignoring version rules? 2010 SAP AG 10
Cause and Prerequisites This behavior is by design. Normally users want to update their system to a newer version. JSPM filters the inbox directory content and shows only updates applicable to this system. Still in some special cases you may need to redeploy an SCA with the same version. Solution: If you want to redeploy an SCA with the same version and all contained SDAs regardless of their versions, start JSPM with this command line: go -config=/jspm/forcemode=true -config=/jspm/deployversionrule=updateall Related Content Java Support Package Manager SAP AG 11
