1 Installing XGW & VCS on a New Computer from Scratch You will be installing two packages; the first is XGW (Xenetech Graphic workstation.and the other VCS (viper communication suite). 1. Download XGW version from ftp.xenetech.com/development/files You want the file marked xgw full install,exe 2. Install XGW first; make sure you select the correct table from the list. When it asks you about fonts, you can pick any 40 in the list. 3. Download VCS from 4. Install VCS. You will see a list of machines during the installation of various systems. Some lasers, some rotary systems and some retrofit systems. Each will have a choice of color and monochrome screens. Please select the correct option. 5. After agreeing to the terms and clicking on next, you will see a window that looks like this: 6. Deselect any system that you don t have. And click on next. 7. When it is finished installing, you will see a window that looks like this:

2 8. Click on OK 9. A new connection manager will automatically pop up like this 10. You will see an unassigned viper or laser number in the list. Select this unassigned number and then right click on it. Select add. 11. It will then ask you for a default machine. Select the appropriate machine. Weather it is a laser or a rotary machine, if it is machine #1 or #2..

3 12. Next it will ask you to select a folder. The folders are Rotary or Laser. 13. If Rotary, select color or monochrome.

4 14. Then select original or RPD ***. 15. Then select the appropriate table manufacture and select the system you have.

5 16. If Laser, select color or monochrome. 17. Then select original or RPD ***. 18. Then select the appropriate table manufacture and select the system you have.

6 19. If you are not sure what laser to select, contact Xenetech Tech support at 20. If it asks you to over right anything, answer yes. 21. The last thing that must be done is a machine update. If it prompts you to do a machine update, do it. You will have to click on the reload button when it appears.

7 22. After the update is complete, you will have to reset the permanent XY home position. 23. On the touch pad, select service. 24. Select permanent XY 25. Using the cross hairs on the touch pad move the red pointer to the corner of the rulers. If you do not see the red pointer, touch settings on the touch pad and select pointer and make sure it is on. After setting the correct position, on the touch pad, select Yes or set origin. 26. Next, move the lens carriage to the center of the table, touch service and table home. Select reset table. The table will move up and reset itself and then go home. ***If you are not sure if you have original or RPD electronics, in connection manager, if the machine name is LMC or viper, it is original electronics. If it says laser or rotary or RPD, then it is RPD electronics. Checking settings 1. Right click on the VCS icon in the system tray 2. Select Job Name Server. You should get a window that looks like this:

8 3. The root folder should look like the sample. If not, click the browse button (red arrow) and browse to the correct folder. 4. Next click on the Hot watch tab (blue arrow) and the window will change to this: 5. Make sure the in box and outbox match. 6. It should say active at the bottom. Setting up Xenetech

9 1. Open the Xenetech program. 2. Click on the MISC pull down menu and select Edit INI files. 3. In the bottom left hand box, select Xenetech 4. In the bottom right hand box, select Ancillary 5. In the top box (green arrow) Make sure VCS is set to =1. If it is =0, change it to =1 and click OK. 6. Click on the PAGE pull down menu and select Engraving Table Defaults 7. Make sure the box marked Ethernet is checked ( dark blue arrow) 8. Last step, click on the MISC pull down menu and select Engraver setup

10 9. Where is says No Connection Selected (black arrow) click on the down arrow and select your connection. You are now ready to send a job to the engraver. Thank you for choosing Xenetech
