1 T ECHNICAL NOTE Product: PayBase 8.5 Last modified: December 4, :45 am Created by: Development Inside this note: PayBase Client Installation PayBase Removal INSTALLATION AND SIGN-ON This technical note outlines the installation of the PayBase 8.5 Client, the database connection, signing on and the removal of PayBase from your computer. PayBase Client Installation ODBC Database Connection Signing on for the First Time PayBase Removal Note The following permissions must be set prior to installing PayBase. Installing the PayBase Client - Prior to installing, the local user must have local administration rights to the machine. Running PayBase - When using PayBase, the local user must have at least the Power User privilege on the machine. 2 2 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 PayBase Client Installation The following describes the installation of the PayBase 8.5 Client to your local computer. To install PayBase, you must have Administrator privileges on the computer. Once signed on to the workstation, insert the installation CD-ROM. After a moment, the PayBase Installation splash screen will appear: Note Features that are not available for installation will appear crossed-out on the splash screen. The PayBase splash screen appears along with the InstallShield Wizard initialization screen: Figure 2.1 The PayBase splash screen On the PayBase splash screen, click Install PayBase.

The PayBase installation process includes a utility to check for previous installations of PayBase using DLL based version checking. Prior to installation, it will automatically appear and scan for an existing PayBase installation. The installation will be interrupted when found. Note When a previous version of PayBase is located, it must first be removed. See the PayBase Removal section for more information. Scroll to read the entire PayBase license agreement. Click Yes to accept the agreement.

Notes If at any time during the installation process you need to go back and change a setting on a previous screen, click Back, locate the screen and make the necessary changes. Click Next to return to the original screen. To terminate the PayBase installation process at any time, click Cancel.

10 10 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 Figure 2.9 The Select Features screen Important Note Before you click Next, see the ODBC Database Connection section below to properly configure your database script installation. If you do not configure this section properly, you could have potential issues when you connect to your database. Use the series of check boxes on this screen to select features to be installed with PayBase. Expand the PayBase Reference Library to confirm subdirectory components. Expand the PayBase ANSI selection to select and install the database configuration scripts for your application. Select an applicable BT Service for installation into the PayBase Services directory. Refer to the Modules and Services chapter of the PayBase Reference Manual. When you have confirmed and/or modified this screen, click Next.

Refer to PayBase 8.5 Technical Note 18 Alternate Registry Settings for more information. 12 12 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 Figure 2.11 The InstallShield restart screen Once installation of PayBase is complete, your computer must be restarted to finish the installation. Click Finish. The PayBase client is now installed.

13 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 13 ODBC Database Connection The PayBase installation process installs the components necessary for an ODBC database connection for each supported PayBase database. During installation, you selected the ODBC components applicable to your database. The ODBC database configuration scripts are located in the PayBase installation directory in the SQL Scripts folder under your database name. Note The PayBase database must be installed and configured prior to the PayBase client installation and performing the ODBC Database Connection. 14 14 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 Expand ODBC Database Access to view and select the components that are compatible for your database. All supported PayBase databases are available and named accordingly. Once the ODBC Database Access components are installed for your database, continue with configuring the ODBC connection. Click Start - Settings - Control Panel and double-click Administrative Tools. Double-click Data Sources (ODBC) and select the System DSN tab. Click Add to configure a data source. Microsoft SQL 2005 Oracle 9i or 10g...install this driver SQL Server (Native Microsoft SQL driver) BT ORACLE WIRE In addition, you will need to install... Oracle in OraHome10 (Native Oracle driver) This is for all Crystal functions. This driver is installed once you have installed the Oracle client to your machine. You will not see this driver unless you have installed the Oracle client. For this example, the BT SQL SERVER driver is selected to configure a Microsoft SQL Server database. Click Finish to complete the configuration. The following screen will appear:

17 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 17 Type the PayBase Database login ID in the Default Logon ID field. Click Test Connect to test the database connection. Figure 2.16 The SQL Server Login dialog box Confirm the Server name using the drop-down menu. Type paybase and paybase as the Login ID and Password or as applicable. Click OK.

18 18 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 Note Depending on your configuration, the SQL Server Login dialog box should appear. When SQL Server Enterprise Manager is installed on your computer, and configured with a registered server and the default login ID has not been defined, the SQL Server Login may not appear. Once the database connection has been established, a success prompt will appear: Figure 2.17 The Test Connect prompt with success confirmation Click OK. The PayBase database ODBC connection has now been established. Creating a Second ODBC Connection (Oracle Users Only) If you are using Oracle, you will need to create a second ODBC connection to install the driver needed to run Crystal. Refer to Table 2.1 for a list of drivers you must install based on your version of Oracle. Note When installing the native Oracle driver (Oracle in OraHome10 or Oracle in OraHome90 depending on your version of Oracle) the DSN name must be PBCrystal.

19 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 19 CreateArchive Setup (CreateArchive Users Only) Note The information shown below is only for those who have purchased the CreateArchive module. Once you have installed the CreateArchive software (refer to the CreateArchive documentation for full installation instructions), it is recommended you adjust the Archive default indexer settings. The default setting for scheduling the watch interval in Create!archive server is Continuously. You do not need to change this setting if the applications being processed in PayBase are producing 1-2 page PDFs for archiving. However, if you have documents with 3 or more pages that are producing PDFs for archiving, it is recommended that you set the watch interval in Create!archive server to 1 minute. To set the watch interval in Create!archive server 1 From your main Create!archive server view, click Administration - Configure Archive. 2 On the Configure Archive screen, click Watch. 3 On the Configure Watch screen, click the Scheduling tab.

20 20 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 4 On the Scheduling tab, click the Every radio button and set it to 1 minute (as shown above). Click OK.

21 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 21 Signing on for the First Time (SQL2005 Users Only) If you are a SQL2005 User, you will have to run PayBaseSQLPasswordUtility.exe and set the Login ID to paybase and the Password: to paybase1 before attempting to login to PayBase for the 1st time. Your screen would look like the following: Once you have installed the PayBase Client, launch PayBase by selecting Start - Programs to configure your computer. When PayBase first appears, a message will indicate that the Security Server is initializing. The Supervisor must sign on first and begin adding Sites to the Database. After one or more sites are added, the Supervisor can sign onto the computer and assign a Site name. The first time a user attempts to logon to a site, they will be asked to pick the site name for the workstation. New Sites are always **Undefined** until an assignment is made.

The system will verify the site creation, and the following confirmation will appear: Figure 2.19 The PayBase site selection confirmation dialog box Click OK. After the site name has been chosen, the sign on screen will appear:

23 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 23 Figure 2.20 The PayBase Logon dialog box When you initially log on, the default UserID is SUPERVISOR and the Password is SUPERVISOR (case sensitive) as well. This password should be changed immediately to ensure security. Click OK. Once you have signed into PayBase, the last step is to import your license file. This ensures that all PayBase features are functional. Click the Supervisor menu and select Import License File. The License File Import dialog box will appear:

24 24 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 Note You must sign on as SUPERVISOR to carry out this action. If not, the Supervisor menu will be greyed-out. Figure 2.21 The License File Import dialog box The license file is provided on the PayBase 8.5 CD-ROM. Locate your license file and click OK. The following dialog box appears: Figure 2.22 The PayBase license import confirmation dialog box A license file import confirmation message will appear if the import was successful. View your system settings in the About Box to verify you have all of your features. Loading Sort Code Information (BACS Users Only) If you are a BACS user and you have purchased the BACSTEL-IP module, you will need to load your Sort Code directory for proper account validation. Use the following steps to load your Sort Code information.

25 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 25 To load your Sort Code information 1 Open PayBase and log on as a Supervisor. 2 On the PayBase main screen click Security - BACS ISCD Import. 3 On the Import ISCD Data File screen, locate your PayBase directory, highlight Update.dat and click Open. 4 On the prompt, read the message and click OK.

26 26 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 5 Once you click OK a blank DOS screen appears. The DOS screen will remain blank for approximately 4 minutes. When the load is complete the following confirmation screen appears. 6 On the PayBase prompt, click OK. Starting the IPBACS Manager (BACS Users Only) If you are a BACS user and you have purchased the BACSTEL-IP module, you will need to start the IPBACS Manager service to properly submit BACS payments. Note You must have access to the internet (either via RAS or a LAN connection). To start the IPBACS Manager 1 Open PayBase and logon as a Supervisor user. 2 On the PayBase main view, click Security - Register IPBACS Manager Service.

27 TECHNICAL NOTE PB The Services screen is automatically displayed. On the Services screen, highlight IPBACS Manager. Right click and click Properties. Note You can also reach this screen, by clicking the following: Start - Settings - Control Panel. On the Control Panel screen, doubleclick Administrative Tools. On the Administrative Tools screen, doubleclick Services.

28 28 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 4 On the IPBACS Manager properties, in the startup type section, highlight Automatic, and click Start. The service is now running.

29 TECHNICAL NOTE PB02 29 PayBase Removal Important! It is imperative you completely uninstall your prior version of PayBase using the instructions shown below. PayBase 8.5 uses a different install program which will cause conflicts if you do not uninstall via the control panel. Follow the instructions below to ensure you have completely removed PayBase and all its components. To remove PayBase from your computer, you must have Administrator privileges. Once signed onto the Workstation, from the desktop click Start, point to Settings and select Control Panel: Figure 2.23 The Control Panel with Add/Remove Programs selected Note All graphics that appear are from Windows 2000 Professional. Double click Add/Remove Programs.
