1 Aggregation Pattern Follow these steps to prepare two different options of aggregation patterns: 1. Begin by opening Photoshop. From the menu bar, click on the "File" menu -> "Open". Then locate your scanned file and open it in Photoshop. (Left) TIP: Unlock the layer once opened. Do so by clicking the lock image on the right side of your opened layer in the Layers window. (Right) TIP 2: As you work, save your file as a Photoshop file (.psd) at least once every 10 minutes!

To clean up your scanned file, start by ensuring that your scanned file layer is selected (active) in the Layers window which is located in the Panel System on the right, then use the "Magic Wand" selection tool (in combination with any other selection tool, if necessary) from the Tools Panel on the left and begin selecting blank areas of your scanned file that need to become clean and blank. (Left) TIP: Hold down the "Shift" key to keep adding to your previous selection(s) until you have all necessary areas selected. Now proceed by pressing the "Delete" button to erase and clean up the selected regions. (Right) Then press "Ctrl+D" (Windows) or "Command+D" (Mac) to deselect your selection. You should now have a fairly clean drawing. If further cleaning is required, use other tools from the Tools Panel such as the (Spot) Healing Brush, the Clone Stamp, and/or the various Eraser tools available.

Now with the new layer selected, make sure the active color (located at the bottom of the Tools Panel on the left) is black, then click on the "Paint Bucket" tool from the Tools Panel, and clock in the blank space between the double lines of your wall thicknesses (as many times as necessary) to make them black. (Left) 7. By dragging and dropping your scaaned file layer copy onto the "Create a New Layer" icon in the Layers window wo times, create two copies of the copy with filled wall thicknesses. (Right)

Select one of the two new layers, then select the "Paint Bucket" tool, then from the context-sensitive Control Panel bar right below the Menu Bar, change the Opacity of the fill you are about to add down to %50. Then fill in the appropriate planes. 9. Repeat Step 8 for the second layer duplicate, this time with a %10 Opacity for the fill.

6 10. Now, proceed to rename the four layers that you should now be left with appropriately so you can have quick access to them easily. You can do so by double clicking each layer name and typing in the new name in the Layers window. (Top Right) 11. Next, change your Canvas Size (Menu Bar -> "Image" -> "Canvas Size") to 11" by 17". (Bottom Left & Bottom Right)

From the Layers window, select all four Elevation layers by clicking the first one, then holding down the "Shift" key, and then clicking the fourth layer, then

7 12. Double click the "Hand" tool from the Tools Panel to fit you 11 by 17 document to your Photoshop workspace. Then from the Menu Bar, click on "View" -> "Rulers". (Top Right) Once again, click on "View" -> "Show" -> "Grid" (Bottom Left). 13. From the Layers window, select all four Elevation layers by clicking the first one, then holding down the "Shift" key, and then clicking the fourth layer, then use the "Scale" tool and scale all four of the elevation modules to fit within a 1" by 1" square of the grid. (Bottom Right) Then press "Enter" to verify changes. TIP: Hold down the "Shift" key as you scale to keep scaling proportional.

14. Separately, select each of the four elevation layers, and create copies with the following transformations: Original, Horizontal Flip, Vertical Flip, and 45, 90, 135, 180, 225, 270, and 315

You can do so by having the desired elevation module's associated layer sected, then using "Flip Horizontal," "Flip Vertical," and "Rotate" tools from the Menu Bar -> "Edit" menu -> "Transform".

Separately, select each of the four elevation layers, and create copies with the following transformations: Original, Horizontal Flip, Vertical Flip, and 45, 90, 135, 180, 225, 270, and 315 degree rotation of each of those. You can do so by having the desired elevation module's associated layer sected, then using "Flip Horizontal," "Flip Vertical," and "Rotate" tools from the Menu Bar -> "Edit" menu -> "Transform". (Left) 15. You are now ready to populate your modules and create your composition by creating as many copies as necessary and moving them to the desired position. (Right) Good luck! TIP: Select the Move tool from the Tools Panel on the left, then from the context-sensitive Control Panel bar above, check the Auto-Select option. This will allow you to readily move any module on the document by simply dragging it around, instead of needing to first selecting its associated layer from the Layers window. TIP 2: Group layers together when necessary by selecting them and clicking on the folder icon at the bottom of the Layers window. (third one from the right)
