1 Parallels Plesk Panel 11 Hands-on Product Tour for Website Owners This document provides a brief hands-on tour of Parallels Plesk Panel 11 hosting control panel for a website owner who is evaluating the product for the first time, or having a look at what s new in this release. It s designed to be used together with a live instance of Parallels Plesk Panel 11 in Power User view, which you can access online via your web browser. The tour illustrates a few common tasks that a website owner using Parallels Plesk Panel would do as part of configuring or managing their websites and server, and introduces new users to the intuitive user interface. Each task is independent of one another, and can be performed in any order. Tasks: Build a Website using Parallels Web Presence Builder Install WordPress, or any of hundreds of other Web Applications Create Account Upload Files for Sharing Changing PHP Settings Build a Website using Parallels Web Presence Builder 1) Open Plesk in Power User view by Clicking Here - power.demo.parallels.com:8443/login_up.php3?login_name=admin&passwd=panel&login_locale=en-us, or pasting the URL into your browser. This is the interface that VPS/Dedicated server administrators (that are not selling hosting services) will see when they log in. It is very similar to the interface seen by customers of shared hosters as well. 2) Click on Launch Web Presence Builder from the customer dashboard

3) (Optional) If an existing website loads (meaning a previous visitor was testing the demo), you can easily start

precreated websites complete with multi-page navigation structure and content relevant to the chosen business category.

They can be chosen by category on the left or by keyword search in the upper-right.

2 3) (Optional) If an existing website loads (meaning a previous visitor was testing the demo), you can easily start over by selecting More -> Start Over 4) Web Presence Builder contains over 100 website topics which are entire precreated websites complete with multi-page navigation structure and content relevant to the chosen business category. Start your website by choosing one of these topics. They can be chosen by category on the left or by keyword search in the upper-right. Let s start by searching for Flower and choosing the Florist or Plants Shop website topic. 5) Enter a name for your website (will be used in the header) and select the language for the generated content. Then, click on Create Site

6) Fill out the information to Prefill the website.

When filled out, click on Submit and Create Site 7) Your starter website is generated and you can begin modifying it by clicking

When filled out, click on Submit and Create Site 7) Your starter website is generated and you can begin modifying it by clicking anywhere on the pages and making your edits. Begin by clicking the Modules tab in the floating control panel and dragging the Embedded Video option anywhere on the page you would like it to appear. Just enter the URL to any YouTube video such as 5GI and click OK. Your video is added to the page embedded in the content.

4 9) Easily change options such as page layout (including headers and sidebars) or the color scheme of the website using the Design tab in the floating control panel. 10) When you are finished making changes, click the green Publish button to push your website live within seconds.

This is the interface that VPS/Dedicated server administrators (that are not selling hosting services) will see when they log in. Locate the web application you d like to install (such as WordPress) and click Install. 3) Within seconds, the application is downloaded and ready for installation to your web space. Begin by reading and accepting the license agreement for the application.

It is very similar to the interface seen by customers of shared hosters as well. 2) Click the Mail tab in the top navigation bar and select Create Address from the resulting page. 3) Enter the desired address and password. 4) (Optional) Define mail forwarding rules, aliases, etc.

2) Click on the File Sharing button in the top navigation bar and click Upload Files on the resulting page.

It is very similar to the interface seen by customers of shared hosters as well. 2) Click on the File Sharing button in the top navigation bar and click Upload Files on the resulting page. 3) Click on Choose File in the pop-up window and select which file you would like to upload from your computer. Select the folder where the file should be uploaded and click on Upload. 4) Once uploaded, you can choose to keep the file isolated to your Plesk user account, or you can share the file with other users or even externally on the Internet. 5) To share the file externally, just checkbox the file and choose Publish from the

10 options list above. Optionally, you can choose to password protect the file. 6) Once you click OK, the file is copied to the Public folder. Once here, you can checkbox the file and choose Link to receive the publicly accessible URL to the file that you can distribute to others.

In the new options that display, select Website Scripting and Security. 3) In the page that comes up, click the PHP Settings tab. Once here, you can change several predefined PHP settings on your web space (such as the PHP memory limit). Alternatively, you can enter any PHP configuration parameter you want in the text box at the bottom. Once finished, you can click OK to save your changes.
