However you can also install data updates and supplemental address dictionaries. ThIs MapMarker Data Installer document describes how to install, update, and configure the address dictionaries that are supported by the Data Installer. 2 Installation Overview MapMarker USA can be installed with either the Tele Atlas or NAVTEQ street Address Dictionaries as the primary address dictionary. One of these address dictionaries is bundled and licensed with MapMarker USA software. You can also purchase and license Centrus Points, Tele Atlas Points, or NAVTEQ as supplemental address dictionaries. The Data Installer provides a simple way to install all supported address dictionaries. The table of Available MapMarker USA Address Dictionaries describes the address dictionaries and data sources that are available with MapMarker USA. The dictionaries are named according to the specific data vintage. where YYYY_MM represents the 4-digit year and 2-digit month. After data installation, you must configure MapMarker USA to point to the new license file and use the newly installed data. See Accessing the New Data on page 3 for details. A primary street network (Tele Atlas or NAVTEQ ) must already be installed before you can use a supplemental address dictionary. Also, all Address Dictionaries (primary and supplemental) must have the same data vintage. Installing Data Updates MapMarker USA Data updates are provided on media. Shut down MapMarker if it is running before beginning the installation. 1. Insert the media into your DVD drive. The installation should start automatically. If the installation does not automatically run, navigate to the installer/ platform directory, where platform represents the platform name that you are installing to. 2. Depending on whether you are installing on a Windows, Linux, or other platform, do one of the following: On Microsoft Windows or Linux platforms, Double-click the install.exe file. For example for a Windows installation, run install.exe from the.../installer/windows folder. On Solaris or HP-UX, run the shell script from the root folder. Use the command: sh startinstall.sh To bypass the startinstall.sh script, go to the /installer folder and run the executable appropriate for your operating system. For example, on an HP UNIX system: sh hpux/install.bin MapMarker Data Installer 2

3 3. The Introduction dialog identifies the data product that you are installing. Click Next to display the What s New dialog. This identifies the data vintage and provides information about the MapMarker USA data product family. 4. From the What s New dialog, click Next to display the License Agreement dialog. 5. After reading the License Agreement, click I accept the terms of the License Agreement and then click Next to display the Specify Data Folder dialog. 6. In the Specify Data Folder dialog, select the location where you want to install the MapMarker data. The default location is: [drive]:/program Files/MapInfo/MapMarker_USA_v##/MapMarker_USA_v##_Data/ You can choose a different location for the installation data folder, but you cannot change the data folder name. For example, the folder name for the Centrus Points April 2011 Address Dictionary is: USA_CPT_2011_04. So the final location of your installed data would be: [drive]:/program Files/MapInfo/MapMarker_USA_v##/MapMarker_USA_v##_Data/ USA_CPT_2011_04. If the installation data folder does not exist, the folder is created. After specifying the location of the data folder, click Next to display the Summary dialog. 7. In the Summary dialog, review the name and location where the data will be installed, disk space requirements, and other details. To edit any selections, click Previous to go back to the earlier dialogs. 8. When you are satisfied with your installation choices, click Install. A progress dialog reports progress as the data is installing. 9. When the installation is finished, the Install Complete message appears. Click Done to exit the installer. After installing the data, you must take additional steps to properly configure the data so that it can be used by MapMarker. As noted, you can install supplemental data even if MapMarker software is not installed on the machine. However, you must configure MapMarker before you can access and use the newly installed data. See Accessing the New Data. We recommend that you shut down MapMarker before installing data updates. If MapMarker was running during the data installation, you must shut down and restart MapMarker before you can use that data. Uninstalling Data To remove a premium dataset that was installed by the Data Installer, simply delete the appropriate data folder and all of its contents. For example, it you had installed the October 2010 Tele Atlas Points Address Dictionary in the USA_ TPT_2010_10 folder, you can delete that folder if you no longer want to use that data. You may also need to adjust the address dictionary path so that MapMarker no longer tries to use the removed dictionary during when geocoding. See Specifying Dictionary Path from the Desktop Application on page 4 and Specifying Dictionary Path from the Server on page 4. Accessing the New Data After installing the data, you must configure the data for use by MapMarker USA. Licensing the Data You can install additional data without any licensing and without MapMarker USA installed on the target machine. However, the data must be licensed before you can use it. MapMarker USA software includes a license file named mmusa##.lic for the Server edition and mmusa##d.lic for the Desktop edition (where ## identifies the version number). This license file controls what software and data you are authorized to use. During MapMarker software installation, this license file is copied into the MapMarker Data folder. 4 You may need to obtain a new license, depending on the specific data that you are installing. This license file will be sent to you by , so make sure that you have provided your address to Customer Service. Contact Pitney Bowes Business Insight Customer Service at if you need assistance. Replace the old license file with the new one that you received from Customer Service. For example if you installed MapMarker 24 in the default area, replace the existing mmusa24.lic file in: [drive]:/program Files/MapInfo/_USA_v24/MapMarker_USA_v24_Data/MMUSA24.lic You can verify that MapMarker is pointing to the correct license file. For the Server edition, examine the USA_ DataManagerSettings.properties file in: [drive]:/program Files/MapInfo/MapMarker_USA_v24/sdk/tomcat/webapps/mapmarker40/ WEB-INF/classes/ For the Desktop edition, examine the USA_DataManagerSettings.properties file in: [drive]:/program Files/MapInfo/MapMarker_USA_v24/desktop This properties file must have a LICENSE_FILE= entry that specifies a complete and correct path to the new license file. This should already be configured correctly, but if you changed the name or location of the MapMarker license file you should verify this entry. Refer to your MapMarker USA product release notes for additional details of how license files are obtained and used. You must also specify a path for every Address Dictionary that you want to use. If you are using the Desktop Application, see Specifying Dictionary Path from the Desktop Application. To configure the Server edition, see Specifying Dictionary Path from the Server. Specifying Dictionary Path from the Desktop Application To configure an additional Address Dictionary for the Desktop Application, add the dictionary path from the System Preferences dialog. 1. From the Desktop Application, select Options > System Preferences and select the Dictionary tab. 2. Click Browse to open the Choose Directories dialog. Browse to the directory that contains the Address Dictionary that you want to add. For example to add the path to the Tele Atlas Points dictionary, browse to: C:/Program Files/MapInfo/MapMarker_USA_v##/MapMarker_USA_v##_Data/USA_TPT_YYYY_MM (where ## identifies the version number and YYYY_MM identifies the year and month of the data vintage). 3. Click Add to add this directory to the Selected Directories column. Click OK to update the Address Dictionary path. 4. If you are using more than one Address Dictionary, you can adjust the search priority order of Address Dictionaries. In the Choose Directories dialog, use the Up and Down buttons to change priorities. Address Dictionaries at the top of the list are given higher priority. So if you wanted the newly installed Tele Atlas Points Address Dictionary to be the first dictionary searched, move it to the top of the list. Click Apply, then OK when done. In order to get point dictionary precision (S8 result codes), the point dictionary must have the highest search priority. You will not get a close match from the point dictionary (such as Tele Atlas Points or Centrus Points) if a close match is found in the segment dictionary first. Specifying Dictionary Path from the Server To configure an additional Address Dictionary for the MapMarker USA Server, you must add a DICTIONARY_PATH# entry to the USA_DataManagerSettings.properties file on the server. You must also update the DICTIONARY_COUNT to reflect the correct number of dictionaries. This server data dictionary properties file is located in: [drive]:/program Files/MapInfo/MapMarker_USA_v##/sdk/tomcat/webapps/mapmarker40/ WEB-INF/classes/ MapMarker Data Installer 4

5 (where ## identifies the version number). By default, the USA_DataManagerSettings.properties file appears as: DICTIONARY_COUNT=1 ## Required - The path to the highest ranking dictionary. ## Note that DICTIONARY_PATH is required from 1 to DICTIONARY_COUNT. DICTIONARY_PATH1=C:/Program Files/MapInfo/MapMarker_USA_v##/MapMarker_USA_v##_Data/ To enable the server to access a second data dictionary, change the DICTIONARY_COUNT to 2 and add a new DICTIONARY_PATH# for the new dictionary. The DICTIONARY_PATH# specifies the location of the dictionary and the # (an integer from 1 to N) determines the priority of the dictionary. For example to configure the Tele Atlas Points dictionary as the first dictionary to search and your standard Address Dictionary as the second dictionary to search, edit the USA_DataManagerSettings.properties as follows: DICTIONARY_COUNT=2 ## Required - The path to the highest ranking dictionary. ## Note that DICTIONARY_PATH is required from 1 to DICTIONARY_COUNT. The standard Address Dictionary (PATH2) is searched next if the Tele Atlas Points dictionary does not return a close match. Note that the order of entries in USA_DataManagerSettings.properties is not important. The PATH# is what determines the dictionary priority. In order to get point dictionary precision (S8 result codes), the point dictionary must have the highest search priority. You will not get a close match from the point dictionary (such as Tele Atlas Points or Centrus Points) if a close match is found in the segment dictionary first. MapMarker Data Installer 5
