MapMarker NZL Features and Enhancements MapMarker NZL provides a broad range of address location and geocoding features. See the New Zealand Post web site for information about the New Zealand postal system. This includes a link to the Address and Postcode Finder. MapMarker NZL includes the following capabilities. A standard street/segment Address Dictionary and a parcel/point Address Dictionary with rooftop precision for each unique street address. These dictionaries are is based on the Critchlow Limited data source, which includes data licensed by Land Information New Zealand. Street level geocoding. Handles single-line, double-line, and multiline address input. Intersection geocoding. Locality aliasing is supported. Segment IDs are returned for street geocoded candidates Supports Standard, Relaxed, Exact, and Custom Match Modes to provide a simple way of setting match restrictions (constraints). A variety of street types, numbered street names, common words, and abbreviations are handled by the geocoder. Postal level geocoding. Geographic level geocoding. Reverse geocoding returns the address for the given X/Y coordinates. After successful geocoding, MapMarker NZL v4.5 returns matching candidates with standardised address fields, latitude/ longitude, result codes that indicate the category and precision of match, and additional information. The returned address may be a standardised version of the input address or an alternative candidate address if the input address was inaccurate or incomplete. The following sections more fully describe the MapMarker NZL v4.5 features and capabilities. Address Dictionary The MapMarker NZL v4.5 data refresh includes updated Critchlow Limited Streets data and PostCodes data. Data has a vintage of November 2011 ( ) The Data Coverage table summarises the scope of coverage. Data Coverage Feature Coverage Number of Discrete address points Roads with Address Ranges spanning the 30 largest urban metro areas Roads commonly used for addressing (excludes forestry roads, accessways walking tracks etc.) km 139,184 km MapMarker NZL v4.5 Release Notes 2

Street Level Geocoding MapMarker NZL performs street level geocoding based on the following input address components: street name, town, suburb, and postcode. Street geocoding is possible with street name and postcode only. The geocoder returns a result code for every returned candidate. The code represents the success or failure of the geocoding operation and conveys information about the quality of the match. Each character of the code provides information on how precisely the geocoder matched each address component. Result Codes Returned Geocoded records return an alphanumeric result code showing the category and precision of match. Result codes are returned in Additional Fields. For example, the returned XML for a candidate displays the result code as follows: <KeyValuePair> <Key>RESULT_CODE</Key> <Value>S5HPNTSCZA</Value> </KeyValuePair> For street level geocoding, the S result code indicates the type of match found. The first two characters of the S result code indicate the type of match found as shown in the table of S Result Codes Match Precision. For Postal geocoding, Z result codes are returned. See Postal Geocoding Result Codes on page 11. For Geographic geocoding, G result codes are returned. See Geographic Geocoding Result Codes on page 12. For Reverse geocoding, R result codes are returned. See Reverse Geocoding Result Codes on page 12. S Result Codes Match Precision Result Geocoding Precision S8 S5 S4 SX Indicates point/parcel level precision (highest accuracy available). S8 candidates come from the Point Address Dictionary. Candidate located at interpolated street address. Candidate located at the street segment centroid. S4 candidates come from the Street Range (Segment) Address Dictionary. Candidate is located at street intersection. SX candidates come from the Street Range (Segment) Address Dictionary. S4 and S5 geocode results are followed by additional characters, indicating details of the match precision. These characters appear in the following order, immediately after the S#. S Result Codes Matching Details Character Description H P N T S C Exact match on house number. Street prefix direction. Exact match on street name. Exact match on street type. Street Suffix direction. Exact match on town name. MapMarker NZL v4.5 Release Notes 3

S Result Codes Matching Details (continued) Character Description Z A U Exact match on postcode. Address is returned from the Address Dictionary. Address is returned from the User Dictionary. If any of the fields do not have an exact match, then its position is replaced with a dash. Segment ID, UFI, and Meshblock Returned Depending on the type of returned candidate, MapMarker NZL can return the Meshblock number, Unique Identifier (UFI), or Segment ID. Candidate Result Code Segment Candidates (S7, S5, S4, RS5, RS4). See Reverse Geocoding for information on the R result codes. Point Candidates (S8, RS8) Returns Meshblock, UFI, and Segment ID (Currently the Segment ID is identical to the UFI.) Meshblock and UFI These codes are returned in Additional Fields. For example, the returned XML for a segment candidate includes the Segment ID, Unique Identifier (UFI), and Meshblock number as follows: <KeyValuePair> <Key>KEY_UFI</Key> <Value>67355</Value> </KeyValuePair> <KeyValuePair> <Key>SEGMENT_ID</Key> <Value>67355</Value> </KeyValuePair> <KeyValuePair> <Key>NZL_MESHBLOCK_ID</Key> <Value>MB </Value> </KeyValuePair> Multiline Address Input The Address Input Fields table describes the input fields for MapMarker New Zealand. Address Input Fields Input Field Description MainAddress AddressNumber: AreaName1 AreaName3 Street Address House Number Region Town MapMarker NZL v4.5 Release Notes 4

Address Input Fields (continued) Input Field Description AreaName4 Postcode: Suburb (Town can be entered in AreaName4) Postal Code (four-digit) Input example: Following is a typical input address with MainAddress, Postcode, and Suburb. This example also shows how unit type (such as flat) and unit value (such as flat number) are handled. MainAddress: Flat 2/31 Kings Road Postcode: 1041 Suburb: Mount Roskill Returned candidate: The following candidate is returned. AddressNumber: 31 MainAddress: KINGS PostThoroughfareType: ROAD unittype: FLAT unitvalue: 2 Postcode: 1041 AreaName1 (region): Auckland AreaName3 (town): Auckland AreaName4 (suburb): Mount Roskill country: NZL Result Code: S8HPNTS-ZA UFI: Meshblock: MB X: Y: Input example with town and swapped: If town is entered in the suburb input area, the geocoder will still return the correct candidate. It this example, the town Glenorchy is entered in the suburb (AreaName4) input area. MainAddress: 314 Routeburn Road Postcode: 9372 Suburb: Glenorchy Returned candidate: The following close match candidate is returned. The town of Glenorchy is returned in AreaName3 and the suburb Kinloch is returned in AreaName4. AddressNumber: 314 MainAddress: ROUTEBURN PostThoroughfareType: ROAD Postcode: 9372 AreaName1 (region): Glenorchy AreaName3 (town): Glenorchy AreaName4 (suburb): Kinloch country: NZL Result Code: S8HPNTSCZA UFI: Meshblock: MB X: Y: Similarly, the same close match candidate is returned if the suburb is entered in the town input area. However, in that case the result code is S8HPNTS ZA with a dash in position 8 indicating that the town name was not exactly matched. MapMarker NZL v4.5 Release Notes 5

Single-Line Address Input Single-line address input is supported. You can enter addresses in a number of single-line formats, such as the following. Other variations are also accepted. StreetAddress;Town StreetAddress;Postcode] StreetAddress;Town;Postcode StreetAddress;Postcode;Town Postcode; StreetAddress Postcode; Town; StreetAddress Town, Postcode, StreetAddress Postcode; Town where: StreetAddress can be Street Name and House Number (with Street Type immediately before or after the Street Name) Postcode is the complete postcode, and Town is the city or town (AreaName3). Fields may be separated with commas, spaces, semicolons, or colons. These delimiters do not affect geocoding. The matching accuracy for single-line addresses is comparable to that of formatted (structured) address input. The performance of unformatted address input may be slower than that of structured address input. Input example: The following single-line input example includes the street address and postcode. 56 NAMATA ROAD;ONE TREE HILL;AUCKLAND;2001 Returned candidate: A close match candidate (S8 result) is returned. MainAddress: NAMATA AddressNumber: 56 Postcode: 1061 PostThoroughfareType: ROAD AreaName1 (region): Auckland AreaName3 (town): Auckland AreaName4 (suburb): One Tree Hill country: NZL Result Code: S8HPNTSCZA UFI: Meshblock: MB X: Y: Intersection Geocoding Intersection geocoding is supported. Use && as the delimiter to designate street intersections: Street 1 && Street2 Input example: The following example illustrates multiline input, but single-line input can also be used. Note that the suburb (AreaName4) of Mount Roskill has been input as the town (AreaName3) but the correct close match candidate is still returned. MainAddress: Admiral Beatty Av && Hardley Av Town: Mount Roskill Returned candidate: Any of these input examples returns a close match candidate with an SX result code: MainAddress: ADMIRAL BEATTY AVENUE && HARDLEY AVENUE Postcode: 1041 AreaName1: Auckland AreaName3: Auckland AreaName4: Mount Roskill country: NZL Result Code: SX MapMarker NZL v4.5 Release Notes 6

X: Y: Postal and Geographic Fallback You can use Postal geocoding or Geographic geocoding as fallback options if a Street geocoding operation fails to return close match candidates. See Postal Geocoding on page 11 and Geographic Geocoding on page 12. Aliases for Suburbs MapMarker NZL supports locally used suburb names in addition to the officially recognised suburb names. Input example: The following input uses the alias of Rosedale instead of the official suburb name of Hargest. MainAddress: 212 Ward Street Postcode: 9810 Suburb: Rosedale Returned candidate: The following candidate is returned. The official suburb name (Hargest) is returned in Areaname4 and the alias (Rosedale) is returned in an Additional Field. MainAddress: WARD AddressNumber: 212 postthoroughfaretype: STREET unitvalue: SS Postcode: 9810 AreaName1 (Region): Invercargill AreaName3 (Town): Invercargill AreaName4 (Suburb): Hargest Aliased_Suburb: Rosedale country: NZL Result Code: S8HPNTS-ZA UFI: Meshblock: MB X: Y: Thoroughfare Types New Zealand Thoroughfare types and their common abbreviations are recognised and fully supported on input and output. Common Words and Abbreviations in Addresses MapMarker NZL v4.5 recognises common words, directionals, house number indicators, and abbreviations used in addresses and can geocode these addresses successfully. Numbers, Numeric Equivalents, and Ordinals Numbered streets are mapped to the named equivalents. Ordinals are also recognised in input addresses. City/Suburb Swapping If a city name (Areaname3) is entered in a suburb (AreaName4) field or conversely if a suburb is entered in the city name field, MapMarker NZL v4.5 recognises the input and geocodes properly. Previously, if these input fields were swapped, MapMarker would not always return a close match. Suburb alias swapping is also supported. That is, if a suburb alias is entered in AreaName3 and a city is entered in AreaName4, MapMarker geocodes the input properly. MapMarker NZL v4.5 Release Notes 7

Level/Unit Information Unit types and unit values are used for scoring and matching geocoding purposes. Unit information can include apartments, suites, flats, shop numbers, and other unit types. For example, the following unit information included in input addresses is geocoded and returned by MapMarker New Zealand. Flat A, 30A Owens Road, Epsom North Flat 1, 82 Luke Street East, Auckland Suite 1, 1 Rhone Avenue, Waitakere Intersection Geocoding Intersection geocoding has been improved to support both the double ampersand and single ampersand as intersection separators. This behaviour is controlled by using setsingleampersandasintersectionidentifier( ) method of NZL_GeocodeConstraints, or by using the setcustomstring(key, value) method. The key for this additional constraint is: NZL_Constraints.KEY_CONSIDER_AMPERSAND_AS_INTERSECTION_IDENTIFIER The default value is false. When this constraint is set to true, the following addresses can be geocoded. Browne Street & Victoria Street, Timaru Corner Browne Street & Victoria Street, Timaru CNR Browne Street & Victoria Street, Timaru Some streets contain an ampersand in the street name itself. In that case, the single ampersand does not designate an intersection. If you set the Single Ampersand Intersection constraint to false, the ampersand is properly interpreted as part of the street name and the following address is geocoded to street level precision (S4 result code): Hole & Corner Rd, Gore If you set the Single Ampersand Intersection constraint to true, then the above address (with single ampersand) fails to return any candidates. If you use the double ampersand syntax for Hole && Corner Rd, this will be treated as an intersection address, but since this address is really a single street, no candidate is returned. Unit/Flat with House Number Formats MapMarker NZL v4.5 accepts unit/flat with house number input in a variety of formats. Previously, the input format was limited. Acceptable input variations for Unit 7, house number 128 include: Flat Cooke Street Flat7 128 Cooke Street Unit Cooke Street Unt7 128 Cooke Street U7 128 Cooke Street Apartment7 128 Cooke Street Apt7 128 Cooke Street A7 128 Cooke Street 7/128 Cooke Street 7\128 Cooke Street Cooke Street Some New Zealand addresses contain unit information of apartment, flat, or sub-building numbers. Unit numbers may be a combination of numeric and or alphabetic characters. Rollup of Candidate Ranges If you are using a point data source, house numbers within the same segment are rolled up into single candidate. House numbers are then listed as ranges within that segment. MapMarker NZL v4.5 Release Notes 8

The following input address generates a single close match candidate: 23 Rhone Avenue Auckland The single close match candidate includes 14 ranges, sorted by closeness with the input house number (if a house number was input). See the Rollup for Candidate Ranges topic in the MapMarker NZL v4.5 Server Developer Guide for additional details and an illustration of the results. PO Box and Private Bag Geocoding PO Box and Private Bag addresses are handled by MapMarker NZL v4.5. This content is identified and removed, but does not affect the street match. RD Numbers Handled Previously, Rural Delivery (RD) routes was aliased to a suburb name. With the data refresh, MapMarker NZL v4.5 returns RD numbers in the suburb field. See Rural Delivery route returned as suburb. on page 13. Maori Alias Names Where known, some areas include aliases for Maori names. This coverage is limited. Care of Indicators MapMarker NZL v4.5 recognises Care Of indicators (C and C/O) that designate the registered occupant. The indicators can appear at the beginning of any address field. C/O Wellesley Hotel 2-8 Maginnity Street Wellington 6011 Unique Identifier (UFI) Returned The Unique Identifier (UFI) is returned for the street segment that the geocoded address belongs to. UFIs are up to 7-digit numbers, assigned by New Zealand Post, that uniquely identify each postal delivery point. For example, the UFI returned by 212 Ward Street, Rosedale is: The UFI is always returned if available, but you cannot use the UFI for input. Original Coordinates If you are using a point dataset, the original (untruncated) latitude and longitude coordinates can be returned in Additional Fields. The original X / Y coordinates are not rounded or converted in any way. MapMarker NZL v4.5 Release Notes 9

Match Modes MapMarker NZL v4.5 provides the following match modes: Match Modes Mode Description Standard Mode Exact Mode Relaxed Mode Custom This generally provides the best combination of accurate geocoding, few false matches, and high performance. This provides strict matching rules. In general, this will return fewer non-close matches than would be returned in Standard mode. This provides less strict matching rules. In general this will return more non-close matches than would be returned in Standard mode or Exact mode. This is the default mode Any combination of Must Match criteria can be selected. Custom Match Mode Constraints Custom Match Mode allows you to select exact match (Must Match) constraints. Custom Constraints Custom Constraint Must Match Street Must Match House No. Must Match Post Code Must Match Suburb Must Match Town Description If selected, a candidate must match the street name for it to be considered a close match. By default, street name must be matched. If selected, a candidate must match thehouse number for it to be considered a close match. By default, house number must be matched. If selected, a candidate must match the postcode for it to be considered a close match. If selected, a candidate must match the suburb (areaname4) for it to be considered a close match. If selected, a candidate must match the town (areaname3) for it to be considered a close match. Matching Options You can control several options that determine the type and number of candidates returned and the information that is returned with the candidates. Close Matches Only You can specify whether to return only those matches that are considered close. The close match criteria can be controlled by selecting Match Modesor custom match constraints. If you do not specify Close Matches only, additional candidates may be returned as non-close matches. MapMarker NZL v4.5 Release Notes 10

Maximum Number of Candidates You can specify the maximum number of candidates to be returned. Close matches will be returned at the top of the list, followed by non-close matches (if you allow non-close matches). Maximum Number of Ranges You can specify the maximum number or address ranges to be returned for each candidate. Maximum Number of Range Units You can specify the maximum number of candidate range units to be returned per candidate range. Address Browsing The Address Browsing feature returns all potential candidates from just a few input characters. MapMarker retrieves a list of possible address candidates using a partial street with a town and/or postcode as input. No geocoding occurs when you browse, but you are able to view the list of possible candidates. Street browsing can be used in the following input field combinations. Other variations of steet, town, suburb, and postcode can also be used: Street and Town Street and Suburb Street and Postcode The following input produces browse candidates. wai nelson 7010 (Street address with town/city and postcode.) The returned browsed candidates have a street address beginning with "wai" and are all located inthe city of Nelson with a postcode of All Browse matches are returned, regardless of the setting of the Maximum Number of Candidates setting. Postal Geocoding New Zealand uses a four-digit postal code. The first digit represents the geographic region. The second and third digits represent the postal sort area. The last digit represents a specific urban area, rural delivery or PO box lobby. If the input address contains a postcode, you can geocode your records based on the postcode and return a postal centroid. Matches in the Z category indicate that a postal match was made. This could be because a street level match was not possible and you allowed the geocoder to fall back to Postal Code, or because you chose to geocode the postal level. The New Zealand Post web site includes an Address and Postcode Finder. Postal Geocoding Result Codes Result Z1 Match to four-digit Postcode centroid. Geocoding Precision MapMarker NZL v4.5 Release Notes 11

Input example: Following is a typical input postcode. Postcode: 9679 Returned candidate: Postal geocoding produces a close match Z1 candidate with postal information and X/Y coordinates. No AreaName information is returned for postal geocoding or postal fallback. Postcode: 9679 Result Code: Z1 X: Y: Geographic Geocoding If the input address contains of a valid combination of town, suburb, and state with no further address information, you can geocode to the city or suburb centroid. Matches in the G category indicate that a match was made at the geographic (town or suburb) level. This could be because street level match was not possible and you allowed the geocoder to fall back to Geographic Area, or because and you chose to geocode to geographic area (Geographic Geocode). Geographic Geocoding Result Codes Result G4 Geocoding Precision areaname4 (suburb) locality/minor town centroid match. Input example: For example, you can geocode the suburb of Wanganui. Suburb: Wanganui Returned candidate: Geographic geocoding (or geographic fallback) returns a close match G3 candidate. AreaName1: Wanganui AreaName3: Wanganui AreaName3: College Estate Result Code: G4 X: Y: Reverse Geocoding MapMarker NZL v4.5 provides reverse geocoding. If you provide X/Y (Longitude/Latitude) coordinates, MapMarker New Zealand returns the closest address for the given X/Y location based on the available Address Dictionaries. Reverse geocoding includes the geographic fallback option. Reverse Geocoding Result Codes Result Geocoding Precision RS8A RS5A RS4A Indicates point/parcel level precision (highest accuracy available). RS8A candidates come from the Point Address Dictionary. Candidate located at interpolated street address. Candidate located at the street centroid. MapMarker NZL v4.5 Release Notes 12

Input example: The following example specifies the X and Y coordinates. X: Y: Returned candidate: This returns a candidate with an RS8A result code. MainAddress: BURBANK AddressNumber: 58 Postcode: 2102 postthoroughfaretype: Avenue AreaName1: Manukau AreaName3: Manukau AreaName4: Manurewa Result Code: RS8A UFI: Meshblock: MB Fixes to Customer Reported Issues Rural Delivery route returned as suburb. Previously, Rural Delivery (RD) routes were aliased to a suburb name. Based on customer feedback, MapMarker NZL v4.5 data refresh now returns RD numbers in the suburb field. For example, the address: 29A GORDONS ROAD RD 1 Waiheke Island Auckland 1971 returns RD 1 is in the suburb name field, representing Rural Delivery 1. Shift in some postcode boundaries. Based on some spatial re-alignment of postcode boundaries in the data, some addresses on postcode borders may change postcode. Known Issues If a street names starts with a number, and the Must Match House No. constraint is used, some addresses are returning as non-close matches when they should be close matches. For example, with Must Match House No. selected, the address: Acre Road, Kotemaori, Wairoa returns a non-close match candidate. If Must Match House No. is unselected, the close match is returned. Similarly, Standard and Exact Modes do not return a close match, while Relaxed Mode does return the expected close match. In unusual cases, the St abbreviation for Street returns no candidates. For example, the address: A St, Ahaura, Grey does not return any close match candidates. This only happens when the street name (A in this example) can be confused with a unit value. If the input address uses Street instead of the St abbreviation, the correct close match candidate is returned. IA hyphen used as a separator between unit and house number does not produce the correct results. For example the address: 12A-40 Obyrne St, Waikiwi, Invercargill does not return the expected close match. If the input address is given as 12A/40 (using the slash as the separator) the expected close match candidate is returned. MapMarker NZL v4.5 Release Notes 13
