6 Overview The Mac OS inode intelligent client (Mac OS inode) is client access software for Mac users. It works with IMC EIA and EAD Security Policy to authenticate and check the security of access users. The Mac OS inode supports 802.1X and portal for authenticating users. This document describes how to install, operate, and uninstall the Mac OS inode. 1

7 Installing the Mac OS inode If the inode client of an earlier version has been installed on the PC, uninstall it before installing the new version. Supported Mac operating systems The following Mac operating systems support the Mac OS inode: Mac OS 10.5 Mac OS 10.6 Mac OS 10.7 Mac OS 10.8 Mac OS 10.9 Mac OS Mac OS Mac OS Installing the Mac OS inode through the GUI The following example uses Mac OS 10.9 to describe how to install the Mac OS inode. NOTE: You must have the administrator privilege to install the Mac OS inode. To install the Mac OS inode through the GUI: 1. Log in to Mac OS as administrator. 2. Replicate the installation file to the installation directory. H3C recommends that you replicate the configuration file inodeclient_macos.tar.gz to the custom directory of the login user. 8 Figure 2 Decompressing the installation file Figure 3 shows the decompressed files. inodeclient is the installation program. Figure 3 Installation program 4. Double-click inodeclient. The installation wizard appears, as shown in Figure 4. 3

9 Figure 4 Mac OS inode installation guide 5. Click Continue. The Standard Install on "Macintosh HD" page appears, as shown in Figure 5. Figure 5 Standard Install on "Macintosh HD" page 6. Click Install. 7. Type the username and password, and then click Install Software, as shown in Figure 6. 4

10 Figure 6 Typing your username and password 8. In the message dialog box shown in Figure 7, click Continue Installation. On the installation success page, click Restart, as shown in Figure 9. The operating system restarts to make inode settings take effect. 5

11 Figure 9 Completing the installation Verifying the installation After installing the Mac OS inode, you can check the status of AuthenMngService. If this service is enabled, you have successfully installed inode on the Mac operating system. To check the service status: 1. Click the Spotlight icon in the upper right corner of the desktop, and then search for and open the activity monitor, as shown in Figure 10. Figure 10 Searching for the activity monitor 2. O the Activity Monitor page, click Disk and search for AuthenMngService. If AuthenMngService appears in the Process Name column, you have installed the Mac OS inode successfully, as shown in Figure 11. 6

13 Using the Mac OS inode for authentication 1. Enter the installation directory of the Mac OS inode, as shown in Figure 12. NOTE: The Mac OS inode must be installed in the Applications folder in the Mac OS system. Figure 12 Installation directory of the Mac OS inode 2. Double-click inodeclient. The inode configuration page appears, as shown in Figure 13. Figure 13 Mac OS inode configuration page 3. Click the Add icon on the configuration page. The Create New Connection page appears, as shown in Figure 14. 8

14 Figure 14 Creating a new connection 4. Select a protocol and click Next. This example uses the 802.1X protocol. 5. Configure parameters for the connection, as shown in Figure 15. Select a NIC from the Select NIC list. Make sure the NIC used for access authentication is selected if the PC on which the Mac OS inode is installed has multiple NICs or virtual NICs. Configure other parameters based on the network requirement. 6. Click Finish. Figure 15 Configuring a connection for authentication 7. On the inode configuration page, click the Logon icon. The connection properties page appears. 8. Click Connect, as shown in Figure 16. 9

16 Uninstalling the Mac OS inode 1. Click the Spotlight icon in the upper right corner of the desktop, and then search for the terminal, as shown in Figure 18. Figure 18 Searching for the terminal 2. Uninstall the Mac OS inode, as shown in Figure 19../uninstall.sh NOTE: The administrator password used to log in to the operating system is required during the uninstall process. 11
